Glad the cat was rescued. My husband loves animals, we have had up to 3 dogs and 12 cats at one time. He isn't good at walking them, feeding them, cleaning up after them and taking them to the vet. When our last dog died, we'd had her 19 years, I said enough is enough and we have been petfree for 3 years.
To be fair to him he can't really do much due to his disability but I did start to resent it all even though I am an animal lover. I do not want to go through the worry and the inevitable heartbreak again.
It is odd as I've always had a dog since I was a child but I can't do it again and I don't want to be an 80 year old trying to look after a dog, not fair really.
It is a miserable day here, really gloomy and I've got a lamp on at lunchtime! It is raining heavily as well but it is quite warm. The weather really is crazy. I've got GS coming later so need to go to the shops, I keep hoping the rain will ease off but doesn't seem likely.0 -
We had a bit of a drama last night:Sooty, my 8 month old Grandcat, got stuck in a really high tree, inside a locked allotment. He'd been missing at this point for 24 hoursMy DD rang both the RSPCA, n the fire brigade who both couldn't help .By this time the cat , DD n the Grandkids were all screaming. Anyway luckily one of their neighbours brought a ladder, n SIL finally went up get him, in thr pitch black. He's now home n under house arrest for a while
I couldn't cope with the worry of a cat going missing
Oh weird, I just said something to you about the cat on the champagne thread.:rotfl:
Glad he was fine.
I love cats too. I had 7 at one point.:p0 -
I have some of those Pyrex dishes with lids and some without lids that I use for the freezer sft. I've only used those foil trays to save washing up at our big parties. I know what you mean about the plastic getting stained with tomato based sauces but I live with it as those boxes (like the take away ones) from £ shop stack so well and hold just enough chilli/Bolognese/savoury mince for 2 portions which is all I need most times. I prefer to just freeze the sauce and then decide whether I want to make it into a cottage pie or have a jacket potato or pasta or whatever.
I'm interested in the advice on peels etc. It's not something I've ever really thought about let alone tried. I must give it some thought.:)
We had a great time last night. I had many compliments on my dress. Long and black was definitely the right choice for the occasion. Money, this was one of the few that I kept from before I put weight on as I love it and it's silk jersey and was very expensive.
Eating out for 24 hours does unfortunately result in not the healthiest of food (and drink;)) options. Mainly it's too much white bread.:( In that respect it's good to be back home and eating what I choose....at least until we go out again on Saturday.:)0 -
Still "trudging on" with the diet - about 3 months down and I'm halfway there, so guessing about 3 months to go.
One positive thought on it though was I was checking through some stuff yesterday and I can see I wasnt overweight at 54 (ie 2 years past menopause). Don't know how long it was after that that I kept my figure before that 2 stone or so went on.
But the cheering side of that thought is "I got to at least 2 years past menopause without any weight gain - therefore none of the weight gain is menopause weight gain and it can/will definitely all come back off again". I can't speak for other women - but I've obviously not had any menopause-related weight gain and it's all just a case of "I opened my gob too often and poured some more food or booze down it". I find it reassuring to think that it was definitely all down to me - and not hormones. That tells me it's just down to me that I can get it all back off again and get back to normal:D
So - the old (ie worn for some time - and therefore stretched) size 40 bras have now been binned and I'm in new size 40 bras (ie not stretched) - so they're on the loosest clips at the moment and so I've got to work my way back down through to the tightest of the 3 sets of clips and then it won't be long before I'm back down in size 38 bra and "rinse and repeat" before I'm back to my normal size of size 36.0 -

Brilliant news Sugarbaby! I’m so pleased for you.I was in a very similar situation a while ago with a PIP claim that was finally awarded the day before I was due to go in front of the tribunal panel.
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.
