It's not inappropriate at all Wednesday. Booze contains so many empty calories that it can be as bad for putting on weight as stuffing yourself with cakes and crisps. Wine is certainly my preferred treat so I knew I had to get that under control before I'd lose weight. I found this thread helped me greatly and I still use it. Why not take a look?

RL is busy at the moment with lots of preChristmas things going on. On Friday we went for a meal in a country pub where the food is good but I remember being cold there on my last visit. I wore my culottes from Zara for the first time

with a pale pink angora type jumper, black opaques and ballet pumps.

I'm really confused about the colour thing. I know I look best in a bit of colour but I also like fawn/caramel colours (definitely not beige!!). Almost all my jewellery is gold too. I really should take a test. Which site are people recommending?

Sorry to hear about the job chanie. I can see why you'd prefer 4 full on days but if it's not usual in your workplace it's hard to ask:(. Well done for getting the leather skirt in Tu. You're always there for the 25% off and it's good to hear about you getting something and not just basics for the children. :)

Hopefully your new machine behaved itself sugarbaby.:)

Quiet day at home today. I'm looking forward to a nice roast.:D
  • I just saw the shop assistant in the shop (a drop dead gorgeous woman) and I noticed that she had changed her hair and I said how nice it looked. She blushed and said "Thanks, my hair is always such a mess usually". It isn't at all, it is just naturally wavy usually and looks lovely that way too. Why do we women give ourselves such a hard time?!

I think we are all helping each other to be more kind to ourselves on here.:A

To help men as well, if there are any on here of course.

Maman - given that you seem to veer towards the camel shades rather than beige I'd use these as your 'basic' colours for things like trousers and skirts with a pop of colour near your face. Turquoise is a 'universal' colour and suits everyone. Spring and autumn reds need to be yellow toned - Peach through to tomato reds whereas Summer and winter are pale candy pinks through to fuchsia and cherry reds to Burgundy's.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

mamankettlewell colours has a colour analysis quiz. I like this quiz because its visual, whereas a lot of the other ones online just throw lots of words at you.
I know you like people watching, so look for celebrities/people on the street who have a similar colouring to you and see what colours they wear.
  • I have been a lurker for quite some time and today have decided to come out of the woodwork and the inspiration was this woman. Caroline Hirons, I accidentally found her this morning and thought that perhaps I would share. Yes she endorses products but only items she truly likes. So today I was reminded that I love l`occitane almond shower oil and found the cheapest on qvc, now winging to me. The gorgeous smell stays in my en suite for a long time

I was a bit scared at first that it would be slippy but it was not so back to l`occitane I go. I see that they have a tsv in 3 days, I am going to put it into my calendar, may or may not get it

I might be a hopeless case because I am definitely not glam these days. I just want to be tidy and neat with a nice bright appearance, one that attracts other people to me

    Good for you! and welcome.:)

I used to use L'Occitane a lot. It may be considered an old lady's 'scent' but I like the smell of lavender. I had a spray eau de toilette and their hand cream. Only last week I decided to open a pack of 4 small L'Occitane hand creams I'd been give as a gift set. I'll give that shower oil a try when I next need some. I see they sell it in M&S so I can sniff it first to see if I like it.:) I'm using Argan Rose at the moment and that has a great smell too.:)

Next fabbing occasion for me is Wednesday. We're staying over at a hotel for a black tie event. Decided to make a mini break out of it so we'll go in the morning and enjoy the day sightseeing and some shopping on the Thursday morning after. I've booked to go here
    https://www.charleston.org.uk/about-charleston/
on the Wednesday. I've always wanted to go to the farmhouse and I'd like to see more of the Famous Women dinner service while it's on display. They had a few plates at Tate St Ives and they're fascinating.

I'm wearing my long black dress. It's completely plain with spaghetti straps. I might wear my black suede heels but will definitely be taking ballet flats as well.:)

Thanks for the ideas about colour. It's strange but although I know certain colours suit me, there are days when I don't want to wear colour if that makes sense. I'm not being grumpy here. It's just that sometimes I don't want to be bright. Is that odd?

It's incredibly mild here for December and the sun is even trying to come out.:D
  • I love the lemon L'Occitane scent.:) I burn lemongrass oil in my diffuser all the time.

I am now having a bath with lavender oil and salt at night (sometimes with a face mask) and then making sure I take off my makeup and put on serum. I'm also putting some sweet almond oil on my eyebrows and rubbed into my fingernails.:)

I've had such a bad sleep the past couple of nights, probably from cutting down on booze.:o It will improve in a few days hopefully. I'm trying to get into a night-time routine and taking melatonin before bed and then listening to a podcast in my room with just a low light on.

I had to cancel my haircut today. My hair is well past my shoulders without any real style so it looks okay without trimming so it can wait until the New Year to be cut again.

I am wearing a black short skirt with my usual black leggings and boots and a turquoise tee with a navy cardigan over it, along with a silver necklace. All in my colours, apparently, and they were all hanging in my wardrobe.:A

  • I think my hairdresser is becoming slip shod, it always seems to happen when I have been loyal to a salon for a couple of years, some seem to stop the effort. One more chance and if I get a haircut and blow that I hate within a week, then I will be off to find another salon. Small steps for me
  • Fingers crossed my hairdresser (found after trying out several others here first) will continue as per plan.

They were sitting down by me and carefully snipping every last little bit of hair that they wanted off at my last visit and my hairstyle is now fully "restyled" from last style/last hairdresser.

Look in mirror and thought "Now that is a sophisticated/elegant hairstyle:D". I've just got to get the sophisticated/elegant body to go with it:rotfl: - winces visibly at the thought of yet another diet meal cooking up at the moment. Can't be much longer now I hope before I have my figure back to normal......

    Hello Ladies,

I went to the pub for a night of dancing on Saturday and to Karaoke on Sunday. I had a really good time on both nights. I sang 4 songs at Karaoke. :D

I am on track to replace the £300 I spent from my holiday savings by the end of this week. I got £50 from my sister J and a £25 refund for the dinner dance I had to pull out of attending as it was taking place on the day of my ESA Appeal. My older son gave me £40 on Saturday and I sold 6 items on eBay on Sunday and I made just over £150 profit after PayPal fees and post and packaging costs. I now have £1,965 in my holiday savings. :j:D
