Hello Ladies,
I went to my open mic poetry evening and I had a great time. :j:D
You can either perform your own poetry or someone else's or you can sing a song. For a change I decided to sing a very short Gospel version of Amazing Grace, which was well received.Everyone was really surprised that I sang though. It was much more nerve wracking than singing at Karaoke, as I was on my own, no backing CD or Karaoke to help me out.
I got some free cakes, giant cheese straws and bread rolls to bring home. :T My grandson and my daughter were happy to eat their share.0 -
Just did a DIY colour test on the internet and came out as Autumn I think. I don't know what colour my hair is because I have been dying it as close to my natural colour as possible since my 40s. My natural colour is a mid-to-dark brown; however my hairdresser says I am pepper-and-salt now, but still with a lot of dark brown at the back. I have skin that tans easily, although I also have freckles. My eyes are yellowish-brown.
The colours that I think suit me are black, white, grey, green, yellow, fuchsia and other quite bold colours. I look awful in beige or other washed-out colours.
I have not worn make-up since my teens, so am not interested in that.
Maybe I should get my colours done!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I think I'd have to get my colours done, I don't think I could decide myself.
Money get a hulahoop, brilliant for the waist and fun doing it.
Sugarbaby that sounds amazing, I do admire you as I could never stand up and do that. Glad you got your reward, especially the cake!0 -
So I just googled and found a site to do my colours and I'm spring, slap bang in there was the green of my school uniform. Everything else seemed very light colours. Not sure about it, that green just can't be my colour.0

Hello Ladies,
My 2nd new washing machine is installed with the 1st load of washing in it. I hope this one is not going to develop any faults.
My older son kindly drove to London to collect all the presents and cards for him and his sister's December birthdays and all of the Christmas presents for the 2 of them, my 3 granddaughters and my son-in-law.Him and his daughters gave me lots of reasons to laugh out loud.
:j
All of the other Christmas presents I had bought for other family and my younger son and daughter are all wrapped. As I have a limited budget this year, I did not have too many presents to wrap. It normally took me days in previous years.0 -
Fingers crossed for you sugarbaby. I hate being without a washing machine.0

Ladies - as a generalisation if silver suits your skin then the winter or summer colours as they are blue toned. If gold suits your skin then spring or autumn shades.
As they are yellow toned.
Colours also tend to remain the same or similar throughout your life as your skin tone doesn't alter.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

I only like silver so this explains a lot"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I must be a winter as i find jewel colours suit me but i look dead and ill in autumnal colours. I admired a gold and red dress of the autumn leaves, when i tried it on it looked terrible. i loved the pattern but it did not like me. dove gray and blues i can carry off.
I found with foundations as i am very cool toned winter that putting purple base with the foundation has made such a difference as it removed excess warmth. if you can adjust the undertone it makes a massive difference- i look real not made up if that makes sense. i was even asked if i was wearing make up and told i should have been a make up artist. i did feel a lot better despite it coming from the eye doctor. Someone else asked if i got my make up done professionally i was grateful.
chanie i know what you mean about someone having their way and its draining. I experience that and sometimes the worst thing is they dispense small nuggets of information on how they want things done only after you do in a different ways (sometimes my way is more efficiently but get the same results nevertheless) .it is like they are closed to new ideas, or even explaining a rational.0 -
I hope this isn't inappropriate on here but it's something I have decided to do to try to care for myself more. I was reading a book called Drinking: A Love Story - Caroline Knapp. I read about this book a few weeks ago as the woman was an alcoholic and she died at my age now, 42 years old. I was squirming and laughing and crying at parts of it as I have had a problem with alcohol on and off since about 13. Both my parents were alcoholics.
She was saying that there is a test to see if you have gone into alcoholism from problem drinking and to tell you have to have only 3 drinks a day for 6 months. If you can't stick to it then you have crossed the line. I am trying this as I have a problem with stopping drinking once I start.
I want to lose weight and start exercising anyway so cutting down on booze will help with that!:A
I feel like I have been neglecting myself so much these past few years that I am really noticing that the small changes like putting on oil or serum every night before bed are already making a difference. The skin on my face is looking much less tired and more youthful. I actually looked in the mirror today and was surprised how good my skin looked as I only had a few hours sleep last night. :ALadies - as a generalisation if silver suits your skin then the winter or summer colours as they are blue toned.
