LL - I'm still feeling "worse for wear" after yesterday's rather "active" dancing - whew!

I do hope my body is going to get used to this okay - with my two dancing days each week I've now got on the timetable being two consecutive days. It better had - considering I'm that debating whether I can summon up enough energy to get to the supermarket today! I'm not giving myself any leeway whatsoever for being in my 60's now and I can see clearly that some of the dancers from yesterdays class are up in their 70's by the look of it (though they have been doing this for years - and so are well-used to it).

I think this may be a plus side to this area (not sure if all areas of the country are like this??) - anyone that wants to dance does dance and they "pay no heed" to what agegroup they're in/whether they're going on their own/anything. So I guess that's a plus side to the "Land of Song".

Really curious as to what sort of dancing you're doing money? I've always thought they should introduce a nosy emoji just for me!:D

A bit incongruous but I started Scottish dancing in the 'Land of Song' when I was a child and I still do it now in England. Yes, it can be quite strenuous but it's great fun. I was reading somewhere yesterday that the same 'feel good' endorphins (?) can be released by dancing, cycling and I think singing as running. I know which I'd prefer!:)

Winchester is a very pretty place lucy. I like it too but it can be a bit 'snobbish' for the want of a better word and hugely polarised. I go there very frequently (this afternoon will be the second time this week) but I'm not sure I could live there. I'm much happier in my cosmopolitan city but each to his own.:)

Our boiler is a Worcester LL, although like you we took a recommendation from the plumber. Sadly he has now fully retired but a friend is going to give me the name of the one she uses with a view to doing our bathroom.

Dental hygienist later which is the nearest I get to tooth whitening. I'll probably have to leave my nails until tomorrow.

The weather is still glorious here. I hope it is for everyone else.:)
  • Hello Ladies,

At last, I can stand almost upright. :( I will still need to take painkillers today all day and evening to the maximum doses, use the Ibuprofen gel and get lots of rest. Long relaxing baths with Epsom Salts with lavender, Dove bath oil and The Body Shop satsuma shower gel are also helping. :)

The good weather is welcome although I am unable to take advantage of it, which is a real shame

Sugar - you probably already know but Boots do a 10% Ibruprofen gel - DH uses it from time to time on his arthritic hands.
My fabbing today consists of DGD colouring my hair - a new mix - at the moment its very.........purple! Will rinse off in 10 mins and see how its developed ;) I've got yoga tonight - my teacher is very experienced and cunning! I ached last week for two days but it was the first time back after about 4 weeks and I'm such a sloth when it comes to practising at home - its just not the same lol.
Maman - sounds as if you're not that far from me - I'm on the Hampshire/West Sussex border.
LL - keep the gas oven! Most Chef's use gas and you'll always have something in case of power cuts!
Lucy - DH has just repainted some of my units using Wilco's spray paint - looks great and I'm really pleased.
Keep up the fabbing ladies ;)

Lucy. Just checked some paperwork and yes we have used Worcester boilers Actually the one in the new house is also a Worcester but it’s condensing only rather than a combi. For the unitiated this means header tanks and a separate pump. (Sorry if that’s “mansplaining”. Lol

Anyway although the boiler is technically only 3 And half years old, the guarantee is void because it hasn’t been serviced regularly and although we haven’t actually accessed the tanks and pump yet they are probably ancient.

So I’ve made an executive decision to replace the boiler and get rid of the tanks. They are in the eaves and as I want to upgrade the attic bedroom at some point and they will be in the way Imay as well, plus I will have more faith in a new system.

Tree guy came this morning. And I’ve booked a chimney sweep. So making good progress with the trades. Spent the morning crawling round the loft putting stuff away - all nice and neat.

Time for lunch and then tackle the jungle. I reckon I’m getting a good workout with that little lot.

Sugarbaby. I would recommend the 10 percent gels. The 5 ones don’t do much. I also use the red tiger balm on my knees

I’m having trouble with my feet. I think it’s the floors here - cheap laminate and no proper underlay or cushioning. Eventually it will be replaced but for now I’ll just get some thick rugs.

I’ve just ordered a couple of anti fatigue mats for the kitchen for now, industry standard do not terribly pretty but they will do fir now. Then they can be used in the workshop later.

I have a paraffin wax foot bath. Might try and use that tonight. It helps. Sugarbaby I do miss my soaks in the bath - a shower is not the same. :rotfl:
  • Silvasaver. The plumber overhauled the gas cooker and it does seem better. Both my boys have gone over to gas. - neither of their women cook. :rotfl: And they love gas now.

LL when we updated our en suite bathroom DH wanted to put in a walk in shower - but as we already have a shower in the 'small' bathroom I stuck to my guns and kept the bath. Really glad I did as nothing beats a long hot soak for achy muscles (and he's used it too ;) )
You've also reminded me to ring my 'tree' guy to get the fruit trees pruned before the frosts.
The main fabbing Ive been doing this week is the garden - I'm rather partial to cyclamen for the winter so the two windowboxes in front of our bays will have nice cheerful red ones
Bye the way - the hair is a lovely shade of grey - no purple to be seen lol. Really pleased with it.

  • I've now got some hair curling tongs - must give them their "maiden voyage" tryout later.

Trying to regard my hair as having one asset - now it's changed colour. I might persuade myself yet - as it has gone a shade of white that some people "pay for" and I was noticing it on a couple of distinctly young heads when I had a recent visit to my home city (in other words - it's pretty fashionable then). My latest hairdresser commented favourably on it's natural colour and started reeling off the problems with even the more "organic" hair colours. Think they were trying to persuade me to keep my own colour....

Quick post LL. Until you sort out your floors/rugs, get some memory foam insoles and put them inside your house shoes. That's what I did as I started to be aware of how 'flat' my slippers were compared to wearing Fitflops all through the summer.
  • Will do. I’ve got some gel insoles but I’ve had them a while do they might be past their best.

I bought some red cyclamens yesterday. And a deep red pot chrysanth. Bright and cheery.
