Having a bath is definitely a plus if you need to sell a property. A lot of people are put off if there is only a shower. Luckily with the house I am buying it is dead easy to reinstate a bath.
I agree with the bit about small people too, a lot of them are actually frightened of showers. Much easier to give them a bath and they do love to play in the bath too.0 -
Well, I've had my hair done and I love it. What a difference having nice hair makes to your confidence.
Also I shaved my legs last night. Haven't done that in ages although I have a
perfectly good women's shaver here. Nice smooth skin also makes you feel good about yourself. I'm beginning to think that life took over and I just got lazy.
Thank you all for the tips on brightening up black. I love the idea of bright shoes and bags. I would never have thought of that. Actually, I was on holiday in April and couldn't walk comfortably in the shoes I brought with me (even though they were Clarks). In desperation I bought a pair - flat, soft leather. The most comfortable shoes I've ever had but they are pale blue. I don't think I've ever had a pair of coloured shoes in my life. I love them. In fact I bought a pale blue bag when I came home to match. Part of my problem with shoes is that I have small feet and take a half size. Didn't seem to be a problem in France but is a huge problem to find a good fit here. If anyone knows a good make I'd be grateful.
I also love pearls. I'm sure I have several pairs of pearl earrings but I haven't been wearing jewellery. Something else to look into.
It's a lot cooler here north of the border but still hot. We had a really heavy downpour last night but it didn't last long enough.
Maman - We never use our bath just the shower but I have to agree that if there are little ones maybe a bath is needed. My neighbour took out her bath when she upgraded and it looks amazing but whenever the wee ones come to me they ask can they have a bath. I guess it depends on whether or not you think you need one.
Can I ask what everyone thinks about taking vitamins? I have a fairly healthy diet but is it worth taking a multi vitamin a day just to make sure I'm not lacking in anything?Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Hello Ladies,
Toni when I look back at my life, I can remember the years when I wore mostly all black, navy blue or brown outfits. The brown was my idea of taking a risk. Now I wear lots of colour. I have lots of coloured pairs of shoes and handbags, not just lots of coloured clothing. I also have some colourful accessories. Just to reassure you Toni that it is possible to change and enjoy wearing colour.
I went to Karaoke last night and had a good night out.I sang 4 songs:
1. It's Now or Never by Elvis
2. Dream Lover by Bobby Darin
3. Hurt So Good by Susan Cadogan
4. Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You by Andy Williams
I have not been able to use my 3 day Red Rover Cruise Pass this week because of the excessively high temperatures in London.I have always suffered from heat exhaustion from early childhood, so I do need to stay out of the sun if temperatures are 30 degrees or higher. I do wear Factor 50 when I go out in the mornings to run a few errands before 11am but even at 9.30am yesterday morning the sun was absolutely blistering hot in London.
Tonight I have my 1st Beginners Salsa Dance Class. I am really looking forward to it. :j0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
I was up and about early to beat the heat. Dropped some stuff off at the chazza. Had a quick browse but didn't buy anything. Then on to B@M. Where I picked up some "snake venom" serum for £2.95. Last time I bought it I paid £6.95 at TK Maxx. I do love a bargain. I really must go to B@M often. My hair removing cream was just £1. It's nearer £5 in B@@ts.
Then on to Aldi for a stock up and home again all before 11. I'm off out again meeting up with family for eats later - tea time so hopefully it will have cooled down a bit by then.
Like you Sugarbaby I am not at my best in this heat.
Well I saw the funniest thing this morning. Drew up at the traffic lights and there were several muscle type men all standing around smoking on the pavement, then when they'd finished they went indoors to the gym. :rotfl: all fairly serious body builders by the looks of them,.....how daft can you get. If they had a few brain cells they'd be dangerous.:D.
Tonisfriend. Glad you like your hair. I had mine chopped a couple of weeks ago.....just in time for the heatwave. Soooo glad I did. It would have been impossible in this heat. You doing really well with your lifestyle changes too. Great progress.0 -
Do let us know how the class goes sugarbaby. Will you be able to use the rover ticket some other time?
Delighted that your hair has worked out just as you want it toni's friend (OK if I write TF instead?). I think next to body shape that's the thing that probably affects mood most. sugarbaby is right about colour. I did what LL recommended and used charity shops (I know sugar uses eBay a lot) to try colours fairly cheaply. Some of my CS buys have become real favourites. I'm wearing a pink linen Nicole Farhi skirt today.:D
Thanks for the input on baths/showers. We visited a few showrooms yesterday to see what's about and we're still undecided. Although we're dreadful procrastinators (DH even worse than me) this is part of a longer term plan. The dripping shower is what's giving me leverage to start from here. We've also got a tired conservatory that has to be replaced. I'd like a proper extension with a shower/wet room as part of it to replace existing cloakroom. That way we could have a bath and a shower. Thanks for listening. It helps.:A
I like hearing your ideas for your new home LL. It's your home so you have what you like. I agree you'd need to think of therapies as well as just getting clean!
Talking of therapies TF. I take one of each glucosamine and cod liver oil every day. Although I have a healthy diet I wanted to do belt and braces with joints/bones. I think it helps but it could be psychosomatic.;)
Back t o the bathroom: I'm also undecided about tiling. Our current bathroom is tiled floor to ceiling and it's been very durable and easy to maintain so I'm keen to do it again. It's an old house so I'm looking for a reasonably traditional look. Any views on these huge tiles that seem to be popular? I was thinking metro tiles as fairly timeless. Would you mind sharing views on those?:)
Still baking hot here. Other than popping out to the washing line I'm staying indoors.:)0 -
Maman. It's a trick of the eye but larger tiles make a space look larger. I did this in the bathroom here and it works.0

Maman we have the large ones of these upright on our bathroom walls, with the 2" mosaic as a feature around the mirror, shower and on the curved bath panel, 1" mosaic deep grey on the shower base & natural grey slate on the floor...ours is a 1930s house.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Please call me TF or anything else (well, within reason but if you feel I need a talking to feel free).
I am trying to add or do something every day to boost my confidence and to get into a daily/weekly regime. The thing that I really find difficult is losing weight but I'm sure I can do it. So far I've been avoiding chocolate, snacks and cheese (I could eat that by the pound). My thought is that if I cut things out gradually the weight will come off and stay off. Maybe depriving myself of too much all at once is why I've failed before.
So today I went shopping. Just to the local shops. But instead of looking like a bag lady I wore a pair of River Island jeans which actually fit nicely and a white and lemon linen Monsoon top (with the blue shoes and bag, of course). The top is loose but it's meant to be and it was very cool in this weather. Both have been hiding in the wardrobe for ages. Hair done and perfume on as well. I had a talk with my partner about how awful I feel about myself and he's been absolutely lovely. He says I'm putting myself down but we can't have me feeling this way. Today he bought me some beautiful lace tops to brighten up all my black. He's a treasure.!!!
So just now we're sitting here catching up on "Versaille" with a wee glass of sparkly wine. I do love a good historical drama.
I think I'll have a go at doing my nails tonight. If it doesn't work out the hairdresser I went to yesterday seems to be very popular for manicures.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Couple of pairs of costume jewellery earrings bought today.
Working on the basis of some YouTube makeovers I've seen recently and what the themes of them are. Came to conclusion that I don't need all the constituent "bits" of them. I've got good skin:) - so that doesnt need covering up/colouring - so that's one plus.
The bits of the makeovers that apply to me are eyes/hair/earrings. Figured I could easily sort out some "dramatic enough" earrings - hence buying a couple. Well - that's one stage of the "3 stage process". Still waiting on my "very popular/because they're deemed good" hairdresser first appointment - getting scruffier whilst waiting, but telling myself to be patient and "wait it out" until I start with them and duly get a restyle and hopefully have a hairdresser I'm happy with here at last.
That leaves the eyes - still trying to summon up the courage to take up wearing eye make-up again - with the way they've changed. Takes deep breaths...
Thinks - better investigate whether my home city has live street cameras for "people watching" to check out clothing ideas that match my tastes. The women in this area dress surprisingly smartly for a rural area - but not in "my style" - hence I people watch holidaymakers here and people back when I'm on home visits - to check for ideas/'styles. Now what were those cameras called again - "live streaming" I think??
EDIT; Got it - webcams - now to see if I can find ones for the High Street there.0
