A trip to the races!!! How fab. I am "well jell" as the kids would say.
Your dress sounds Perfick!!!!
Well I'm off for afternoon tea today and it's a nice warm day so I think I will wear a new linen dress that I picked up in the sales a few weeks ago. It's a sort of coffee and cream colour.....so not exactly beige. :rotfl: honest!!
Didn't manage any yoga yesterday but did go for a little walk after dinner. Apparently a short walk after dinner helps regulate blood sugar levels. Mine have been creeping up a bit....my fault, so I am both being more vigilent about food and trying to walk more.
The cakes won't help today but that will be a one off and then it's back to a strict regime to make sure I get those numbers down. I probably won't dare test myself tomorrow morning.....I would scare myself to death......but as long as treats like afternoon teas are just a once in a blue moon thing I should be ok. Luckily I dont really have a sweet tooth so going without sugary treats is no real hardship. I don't even bother with a pudding when I eat out now. I have even stopped eating chocolate........:rotfl:
Blood sugars are strange. The most recent spike was due to eating a Cornish pasty....so that will have to be another favourite off the list. Hey ho.
Money........coaster oil can be a problem for some people. If you have found it a problem I wouldn't advise putting it on your lips. Not very MSE but just chuck it. Interesting about the nail thing and the hair growth.. As the owner of baby fine hair I am always looking for ways to improve my crowing glory. Not so glorious these days. :rotfl:
Hope you all have a great day. Keeeeep Fabbing.0 -
Just found out it's Ladies Day at the races so need to get my nails done today and thinking of lash extensions - not the Bambi look I hasten to add! Just a little length and thickness will do fine ( depending on price!!) Otherwise plenty of mascara lol.
Your dress sounds nice LL - glad you said not beige though - I have a 'thing' about more mature ladies in beige - I want to scream nooooooooo! and put them in some colour.
Glad you took it easy yesterday - acupuncture needs time to assimilate to do it's best.
Found I've given my fascinator away - wasn't too enamoured with the style so I'll look for a new one in the many CS in my local town
Have a lovely time and enjoy your afternoon tea.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

:rotfl:A woman after my own heart.
That being said, lots of creamy colours suit me as I can't wear white for most of the year without looking washed out. I think you have to be very careful and it can depend what you buy in beige! Beware anoraks and elasticated waist trousers!
What a lovely invitation to have silva. I'm assuming Glorious Goodwood. The summer's come back on the south coast so that'll make choosing your outfit easier. I don't think you're going to need a coat! The wedges idea from floss is great but if you don't have any I'd put some ballet flats or similar in your bag. I did that for a wedding in May and it was really useful.
Obviously if it causes lasting damage to your health then you'd have to be careful but I think an occasional treat is good for you LL. I think strict adherence to a restricted diet can be so boring that you're likely to rebel and give up. Strangely enough though, if you cut something out for a while then when you go back it doesn't always taste as good as you remembered. Hope that makes sense??:o That's happened with me and pasties. I used to love them but now I'm not tempted. I rarely eat anything involving pastry these days. I'm going out for afternoon tea to celebrate with a group of friends next week. I'll have to join in to be sociable but it wouldn't be my personal choice.I really prioritise my treats and they generally come in a bottle.:o
I've taken time to pamper myself today as I've not got anything pressing on. This included creaming my feet! I had my manicure/pedicure on Monday so intend to keep it up.:)
When I was in the city centre the other day a dress jumped out at me from Zara.;) DH wanted me to try it on but I decided I didn't need it. This morning it appears in the fashion pages of my newspaper. I think it won't date. Maybe I'll go and try it on....

Thanks Ladies - getting my nails done but not until 6pm (only slot with the lady I like) I've a perfick pair of shoes - a lovely pair of Clarks sandals with a thick heel - should be OK as the ground will still be baked! Just remembered I've got some patent wedges too so will see which looks best with the dress - thanks for the reminder Floss. I was looking in my wardrobe for a little black bolero that I have - well had as I think Ive CS'd it - it didnt stay put so out with the trusty pashmina that I can put in my bag and tbh I think it looks more elegant (btw I'm a size 12/14 and 5'10'')
I'm getting quite excited now!
I'm glad I'm not the only one Maman - I also feel for the poor blokes who'se wives think that beige is practical - talk about fading into the woodwork!! Bought my DH a bright pink shirt - he took a double take but wore it and basked in the compliments as he's got thick white hair, very blue eyes and a beard - bit Kenny Rogersish! - quite tasty I thoughtSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Hello Ladies,
I went to Karaoke last night and had a really enjoyable evening. From 8pm to 10pm was music by the DJ as hardly any singers turned up. I danced my legs off. Later in the evening I sang 3 songs:
1. Dream Lover by Bobby Darin
2. Hurt So Good by Susan Cadogan
3. Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You by Andy Williams
Unfortunately I could not go to my Beginners Salsa dance class today because I was not feeling well and needed to stay at home and rest.0 -
Hi all,
Reading along as usual. Have re-started yoga (again) & feeling very stiff so need to keep it up. My knees have been a bit sore too so need to be careful what shoes I wear - very flat shoes give me aching knees for days after wearing them. My chiropractor gave me a tip if I do want to wear flat shoes, she said the gel cushions you get for the balls of your feet can be used under your heel instead to give a bit of extra lift/cushioning. I think I'll have to buy some good quality shoes which have a thicker sole & aren't completely flat rather than £4 Primarni flats which have paper thin soles.
I had a bit of an online shopping spree with some birthday money last night. I bought a nice top & skirt in the Monsoon sale. Also ordered a cardigan and another top from New Look. Not to wear together obviously - mustard overload. :rotfl: I wanted to order some jeggings as well but none in my size online which was annoying. I need to go through my clothes again & thin things out, I still have too much that I don't wear.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Can you believe it? I got a compliment today. There I was ready to go collect my prescription from the doctor wearing my nice jeans, pretty top, light grey blazer (rescued from the back of the wardrobe and all cleaned up), nice sandals, hair done, earirngs in when the man upstairs said to me "You look really smart. Going somewhere special?"
Really smart! Me! The bag lady!. Must be doing something right.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

Yay! That's brilliant:T. I l know we do this for ourselves, our own pride and self worth but it is good when someone else notices. Keep it up!:DI need to go through my clothes again & thin things out, I still have too much that I don't wear.
I think we could all say that sashy. Thanks for reminding me.;)
Interesting what you say about flat shoes. I've got a problem at the moment with the balls of my feet getting sore. I'm pretty confident it's from my dancing shoes which are very flat with thin soles. I've thought about gel cushions but I'm not sure they would stay put when I dance.
For walking I'd recommend Skechers. They're not suitable for dressing up but they're great with jeans and everyday wear. At the moment I've just got some boring black Mary Janes but I'm thinking of getting the trainer type ones that they do. With the good weather I'm wearing my fit flops every day. They have good, thick soles but not soft like Skechers.
I've been for an hour's walk this morning. It's been a glorious day here again so silva won't be needing her pashmina at the races!:)0 -
I don't know if this would help anyone else but here goes. I've noticed my hair has really dried out in this hot weather and last week I noticed a product called Got2Be Oil-licious. It is a rich oil and you can use it before you wash your hair, after you wash as a conditioner or when your hair is dry. I use it for about ten minutes before I wash my hair, then use my usual conditioner, if my hair is still dry I used a couple of drops after I've dried it. I used it for the 2nd time today and the difference is really noticeable.
Just thought it might be useful for someone.0
