Hello Everyone,
Sugarbaby I'm sorry things haven't worked out for you.Cheating, lying, cowardly weasel scumbag. Add delusional. Round here we call a man like that a "scrote"
So, still keeping up my cleansing regime, etc and trying to get it into a proper routine. I've moved everything into the top drawer of my bedside cabinet beside my medication so I have no excuse not to keep it up. Got to take the tablets every night and morning so got to look after the skin as well.
I thought I'd be very brave and try doing my own eyebrows (used to do them) and you know what, They look good. Just have to keep tidying and practising and it will be fine. Going to have a look at the nails next. I have everything I need to do a manicure myself.
I looked at all my clothes. God, I've been dressing to look invisible! Just about everything is black and baggy. I don't have anything against black as such. It can look very elegant when dressed up properly. Lots of things hanging on the washing line ready for the charity shop.
Really looking forward to having my hair done tomorrow. I think if one single thing will encourage me that will be it.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Hello Ladies,
Toni you have made a really great start. You just need to think about wearing one piece of coloured clothing with your black items and colourful accessories. I have found that makes all of the difference from wearing an all black outfit.
Maman, I have found myself laughing about the whole debacle so I am not exactly feeling sad or devastated.
I also love M & S knickers. They last for years and they are a great fit on me as well.
LL scrote is so apt :rotfl:0 -

I sadly won't need to worry about this where I am on the rainy Lancashire coast...who can I send it to?!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Oh I would love some rain to cool things down a bit...although I think it might be a bit cooler today. But then apparently it's set to sizzle again on Thursday.
Being so far inland it can get unpleasantly humid. What I wouldn't give for some cooling sea breezes. Yesterday I walked in the park. It was only 11am but it was blistering. I hugged the shade so at least I didn't get sunstroke.
DS2 went up into the Peak yesterday and forgot his hat......he felt a bit poorly last night, so obviously too much sun. He's 32!!! They never learn do they.. :rotfl:
I am another M&S knicker girl. I also buy from Sainsbury's and ASDA too. Oddly enough I was looking at my underwear draw the other day and thought it was time I bought some new knickers.
Toni.....you are right. Black can look so chic and elegant. I just wish I could wear it. Unfortunately it makes me look like a corpse..it's probably a bit hot at the moment for a scarf but even a brightly coloured scarf can really give all over Black a lift. SUgarbaby seems to really have got wearing black down to fine art, lifting it with nice tops and accessories. She's the expert on here.
Another trick is pearls (fake or real) near your face, so earrings or necklace. Their soft lustre and glow can be really flattering against your skin. It's up to you of course but I think matching necklace and earrings can be a bit too classic and formal these days.
I think it's all trial and error really, finding out what suits you best. But I think in general people tend do to dress quite casually these days so "matchy-matchy" everything can seem a bit outdated and even, dare I say it, a bit "old lady" at times.
Just experiment and have fun. This is why so many of us like shopping st charity shops. You can try things that maybe you wouldn't normally wear and if you make a mistake and really don't like your look then you've not lost much.
The other day I bought a shocking pink poncho. Nkt me at all. But the shop has a buy one get one free offers on sweaters so in effect it was free. If I don't like it I can just redonate it. Nothing lost.
Off to acupuncture this morning so I had better get cracking.
Have a lovely day and stay safe in the sun.0 -

I am just about to leave the hot and sunny West Midlands for a short stay in our static in North Wales. It has been raining there all night and still is. Obviously the West is different to the west of the country!!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

We haven't had any rain for six weeks now. Not a drop. Everything looks so brown and dusty. Walks along the beach are the only way to keep cool, although there is a nice breeze today. Th UV levels are really high though and sitting outside on tea-break for 15 mins, I can feel/see my legs and arms burning.
I've even started walking the dog early in the morning (6.30am) as its far too hot for her when I get in from work!0 -
Another post from the sultry south. It's baking here and other than a token drop we haven't seen rain for weeks.
Interesting that people still buy knickers in M&S despite their bad press. I went there yesterday (not my favourite place as you all know;)). Yes, they had my favourite knickers back in stock but only in packs of mixed colours: 3 almond (aka beige), 1 white and 1 black. Yes, I have been wearing light colours a bit lately under light skirts but I wanted all black which is my go to colour. If you look at online reviews they all say the same. Please M&S buyers listen and bring back single colour packs! What is it with that store! Needless to say they have racks of unsold sale items and they can't say this year that it's the weather that has left them with summer stock.
I bought just one pack to keep me going until I find something elsewhere. I'm thinking of treating myself to Victoria's Secrets. Unfortunately one pair will cost more than a multi pack.
I agree about a coloured scarf brightening up black outfits toni's friend. Another tip is a bright handbag or shoes. My DD wears a lot of black for work and she has a red and a green bag which always look great. The great thing about bags is that they'll still fit after you've lost weight!:D
I decided today that there was no reason putting off creaming feet so I made myself do it today. It's particularly important wearing sandals all the time as feet can get very dry. I'll still have the pedicure though.
DH has been persuaded that it's time to revamp the bathroom. It's precipitated by a leaky/drippy over bath shower which seems even more appalling with water shortages looming. I want to refurbish the whole room not just fix the shower. Now we have the dilemma of whether to do away with the bath altogether which we never use and replace with a large shower cubicle. Any thoughts?0 -
Just back from my acupuncture so now time for a rest.......
Re the shower/bath. There are pros and cons to both options. Replacing the bath with a good double shower would certainly future proof your bathroom. As you are doing a complete revamp you could look at other options to make life easier as you age. It doesn't have to be boring NHS functionality. You can have very glamourous future proof bathrooms these days. I suggest you try and visit some showrooms.
I shall have a similar dilemma when I move. They have removed the bath and put in a double shower. I think I'll miss my bath but I'm going to keep an open mind and see how I go.
The reason I love my bath so much is it's therapeutic properties. The healing power of warm water but I can appreciate that as I age a shower would probably be more practical.
So I have come up with what I think would be a good alternative .....it sounds a bit off the wall. But you know me......I'm always prepared to look at a radical solution. :rotfl:
I was thinking that instead of removing the shower and reinstating the bath straightaway I might invest in a home sauna. It sounds wildly extravagant but you can buy a portable one for as little as £250. Ok it's only a plastic affair but I thought it would be worth trying.
Then if I really take to it you can install a more aesthetically pleasing Swedish style cabin for around £1k. This would be a dry infra red sauna, not a steam sauna so no plumbing required, just a double power socket. So no expensive installation costs. And of course you can put it anywhere, even in an outbuilding as long as you have power and light.
Initially I shall be using the small spare bedroom (3rd bedroom) as a mini gym/office so I could pop the portable sauna in there. Then later I shall be converting the outside shed into a home gym so a sauna cabin would work very well in there.
I am also considering adding an ensuite to the upstairs bedroom - I think there is enough room. And then I could reinstate the bath downstairs. I think There is also room In the downstairs bathroom to include a separate stand alone shower cubicle as well as reinstating the bath.
So a lot to think about. I shall take advice from my trusty plumber.
Last time I looked ASDA were still doing multi pack knickers in either black or white. They are my go to colours too.0 -
Maman when we redid our bathroom 7 years ago DH was all for no bath but I persuaded him to agree to a P-shape bath along with the walk-in shower (& in fact he hasn't yet had a soak in that tub!). Personally I think it is better resale & also for smalls - I know brother & sis-in-law struggled to bathe DN in a shower when she was small, as their home had no bath.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
