:hello: Good morning all
It's a beautiful start to the day here, sun's shining away but
brrrrrrrr - it's still chilly!
Had to laugh this morning watching the weather forecaster
on the beeb talking about the low temps expected for next
week. He was really getting into it - especially when minus
15 degrees was mentioned by another presenter.
Very well done on your fb win indie. :T
Hope everything is ok rose and that DIL is feeling a little
better. xxx
Interesting history date today:
25 February 1939
The first 'Anderson' shelter was erected in a garden in Islington,
London
In November 1938, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain placed Sir
John Anderson in charge of Air Raid Precautions. He immediately
commissioned the engineer, William Patterson, to design a small
and cheap shelter that could be erected in people's gardens.
The first 'Anderson' shelter was erected in a garden in Islington,
London on 25 February 1939 and, between then and the outbreak
of the war in September, around 1.5 million shelters were
distributed to people living in areas expected to be bombed by the
Luftwaffe. During the war a further 2.1 million were erected.

^^ Fascinating history.
I can recall an Anderson shelter in our garden when I was a
youngster. Mum and Dad used it for storing garden pots. Bit like
this one except concealed by large shrubs etc.....
Used to hate going inside it - quite dark & too many spiders for my
liking!
Time for a cuppa me thinks.Have a lovely and relaxing day
all & please take care whatever your plans.

:hello: Good morning all
Hope everyone's well.It was such a beautiful day here
yesterday despite the chill & I managed a bit of pottering
about in my garden - doing this n' that!
I'd put off doing a huge pile of ironing  yesterday so
had best get on with that delightful chore today.
The sun's shining away here with no sign of frost (thank
goodness) - must trot out and top up the bird feeders in a
mo - the fat balls are disappearing before my eyes!
Have a lovely and lucky week all and please take care
whatever your plans today. Keep warm!

Brrr and Brr here. Here we woke up to a few snow drops today. It was 0 when we came home from DD1s last night. She forgot to cover her car last night and it was covered in snow this morning.
Alfie you ok. Or are you just wondering if theres anyone out there.
Thanks for info on Anderson Shelters. I remember a friends garden having one but we didn!!!8217;t.
Rose hope you DIL is better. There are some terrible things about. Our DS seems a bit better but not over the cold.

Will you be out making snowballs later fire**fly?
Thankfully not had any snow here or even frost this morning
which did surprise me!
Although it's a beautiful day I must rein myself in and do
the dreaded ironing before puddy starts to think that the pile of
washing would make an excellent place to send up the zzzz's!
:eek: :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Must admit I began to wonder where everyone was!
Been fairly lucky down here at the mo re weather but my
daughter messaged me this morning to say it was snowing
where they live (Lincoln) & settling too. Sent video of snow
(just a sprinkling really!) with little granddaughter talking
in the background sounding very excited and rainbow baby
babbling away! :grinheart Bless! :rotfl:

Morning peeps. It is freezing here. Been out most of the morning had to get GKs sorted and then had some shopping to do. Need to nip out for 10 minutes in a little while so will be frozen again. Need to try and get some comps done today as I have done very few lately. Hope everyone is warm and well.0

Hope everyone is warm. Got pressure cooker and slow cooker on with soup. Ham houghs are getting so expensive now for making soup. Although I take mine out and serve with mash and veg. I am having a bacon and cheese roll and a cuppa for lunch. Would love some new and different recipes from peeps with your leftovers. Although ham hough is not a leftover it can be if you see what I mean. (????)0
