Afternoon. Alfie good luck with your Lappy. I’m on iPad as it’s easier on my hands but I have not been able to find out how to post pics on here. I did once manage to copy a pic from someone else’s post but I’ve never managed it again.

I’m just back from meeting my brother for his hospital appointment at King’s hospital. He only has to come up every six months now and the liver clinic he goes to used to be full now hardly anyone. They have new treatments and people are recovering. You don’t realise how much medical progress there is.

Having a welcome cup of coffee. I thought it was going to rain this morning but no. Brilliant sunshine now.

I’ve managed to book a night from the mags overnight win plus pay for another night near Windsor. Plan is to go there for a night with SIL before she flys back to America in May. We could take her to Heathrow next day and then stay another night at the hotel. It’s bed, breakfast and evening meal. Just hope DH is a lot better by then to drive us and enjoy the stay.

    :hello: I'm back :D

Not sure what I did to ancient lappy, but whatever it was
it seems to have done the trick - albeit temporary. Where
    there's a will, there's a way! :p :j

    Bobby Moore Fund

Bobby Moore was just 51 years old when he died. Shortly after his
death in 1993, Bobby’s widow Stephanie Moore MBE set up the
Bobby Moore Fund in partnership with Cancer Research UK to fund
    pioneering bowel cancer research

Now in its 26th year, the fund has raised over £26 million and
continues to go from strength to strength. Since Bobby’s death,
mortality rates for bowel cancer have fallen by more than 30%,
but sadly it still kills 44 people in the UK every day, so we still have
    so much more to do.

Our purpose is simple – together we will beat bowel cancer.

    Football Shirt Friday

    https://youtu.be/PCwOufsXdQ8

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, so the Bobby Moore Fund
needs you to get behind us and raise funds for our pioneering
bowel cancer research. Whether you fundraise at work, your
school, your local sports club or go solo, we have lots of materials
    to help get you started.

Most importantly, don’t forget, Football Shirt Friday is back on 26
April. If you give a shirt about beating bowel cancer, make sure
you donate £5 to the Bobby Moore Fund.

    Help a Horse Day

    Horse-Trust-1-346x346.jpg

The Horse Trust is the World's Oldest Horse Charity

For over 130 years our Home of Rest for Horses has specialised in
providing retirement and respite for working horses and ponies.
These hard-working equine public servants have served our nation
in the Police, the Army or with charities which use horses to help
people. We also provide sanctuary to horses, ponies and donkeys
who have suffered from cruelty or neglect and who are in
desperate need of specialist treatment and care.

It is at our Home of Rest for Horses that we demonstrate best
practice and deliver professional training in horse care and welfare.
We have invested in funding veterinary research that has led to
major advances in horse care. This training and research helps
develop the knowledge and skills needed to improve the care,
welfare and quality of life of all horses.

From our very first day on 10th May 1886 we have relied entirely
on donations from the general public to support our work.

Read our story to find out what makes The Horse Trust a very
special organisation and how you can help.

The greatest threat to the Bornean orangutan population is
currently the loss and degradation of its forest habitat, especially
as a result of the conversion of forests for oil palm development. 🐒

In recent years, the Orangutan Foundation has had to rescue a
constant flow of orangutans from these areas, often from the last
tree standing. We are able to support this project because of your
kind donations. Read about how they are protecting their future:

Re Instagram winners are usually informed by an announcement on the competition post. They usually put your Instagram name on that post as winner and this comes up in the ‘heart’ at the top of the page when you are on Instagram with your other tags. It doesn’t have a direct message section as on twitter.

Sorry to butt in and contradict you, leanfun :o I just wanted to say that Instagram does have a direct message function on it. Don't want anyone to miss out. I only realised myself a few months ago.
To see messages with Instagram Direct, tap the arrow in the top right of Feed. From there, you can manage the messages you've sent and received.

Here is a WikiHow article on it: https://www.wikihow.com/Direct-Message-on-Instagram

    Hope that helps!

Hi Defairmans you are certainly not butting in. Thanks for the info.

I couldn’t find the arrow. I have spent sometime looking. I’m on iPad and thought I had Instagram app downloaded and thought I also go into Instagram via Safari. I’m confused but will have another look over weekend. If I dont find it I will get back to you if that’s ok. I thought it was odd that there’s no direct messages.

    Morning all,

Bucketing down and windy here in NE Wales. Not sure what we are going to do today. We were at Llandudno and Bodnant Gardens NT yesterday and the gardens were beautiful, a blaze of colour. Their famous laburnum arch was just starting to bloom. (one year we will see it!)
Met SIL for a meal last night too so been busy. Off to Caerphilly tomorrow via Powis Castle I thnk.
    Well done to the winners.

Leanfun think you need to be on Instagram on your phone to use messaging. There is an arrow in the top right hand corner. I have tried to send you a message on it. That is what I dislike about Instagram so many things need to be done on your phone. I miss messages from people quite often as I prefer my laptop and ipad.

Hope weather is ok for everyone else or not too bad anyway.
    Good luck to all.

    :hello: Good afternoon

Well, at the moment, ancient lappy is behaving himself - don't
think he liked being told off and interfered with! :p :rotfl:

Edit ^^^ The little swine just threw another hissy fit &
shut himself down! Thankfully I'd was copying the post
as I was typing it - just in case! :p

You're most welcome re the PDSA comp fire**fly/indie. In
fact as soon as I found it, you immediately sprang to mind
    fire**fly. :A :D

The weather here isn't too bad actually, just a bit feisty
with a mix of sun, cloud & wind.

Took myself out this morning to get some provisions in &
didn't see much damage from the wind on my travels. Still no
rain though - boo! Garden remains bone dry. Mind you, the
wind has a bit of a chilly feel - I was quite pleased to get
back home. What a contrast to the Easter weekend.

Know what you mean about the weeks flying by indie, can't
believe May is just around the corner!

I can't really enter Instagram comps because the only phone
I own is a bog standard ancient Nokia - good for sending/
receiving texts & making the odd phone call - & that about
sums it up. :p Really must think about updating & getting a
    bit more with it!. mobile-smiley.gif?1292867637

Sounds as if you having a brilliant break in Wales sheils,
despite the iffy weather. My daughter spent 4 years there
(Cardiff Uni) & we would regularly drive to Wales & meet up
with her for weekends. I can remember having to pay the
flipping bridge toll on every visit, which I think was scrapped
December 2018? Beautiful country though & lovely people,
    wonderful places to visit.

Time for a cuppa me thinks, before I crack on with dreaded
    ironing!

Have a lovely & lucky day all, take care.

The country’s biggest celebration of gardening

    Monday 29 April - Sunday 5 May 2019

    jardinage0.gif

    What's happening this year?

We're calling on gardeners up and down the country to share their
love of home-grown produce with this year's RHS theme – Edible
    Britain.

It’s clear that people are keen to reconnect with where their
food comes from. We’re supporting this burgeoning interest
by encouraging people, groups, societies, garden centres,
nurseries and other organisations to showcase their edible
expertise, and highlight all things grow-your-own.

The nation’s largest celebration of coffee, all for a good
    cause.

CELEBRATE COFFEE. HAVE FUN. RAISE FUNDS.

During UK Coffee Week thousands of participating coffee shops,
retailers and foodservice outlets fundraise for Project Waterfall - a
charitable initiative bringing clean water, sanitation and education
to coffee-growing communities across the world.

Whether they donate money from every cup of coffee they serve,
host events, or even organise town coffee crawls, their efforts give
coffee lovers across the UK the chance to support Project
Waterfall, and make their cup matter, simply by enjoying their
    daily coffee.

    #MyCupMatters

COFFEE IS A POWERFUL COMMUNITY · TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE
    A REAL DIFFERENCE

Whether you’re a coffee drinker, independent business or market
leader, UK Coffee Week is an opportunity for you to have fun and
    give back.

100% of the funds raised during the week go to Project Waterfall’s
efforts to bring clean water, education and sanitation to coffee-
growing communities throughout the world. This is made possible
thanks to the incredible support from our sponsors, who
generously fund the running costs of the campaign.
