Alfie Well done on the spring Clean up. Loads of rubbish. Such a shame people don’t respect nature.
Thank for the links Alfie. I really don’t fancy staying in B&Bs now. Years ago we had some great times touring around Scotland and stayed in some amazing B&B’s.
Earlier suggested DH and I go out for a coffee and snack earlier. Never seen him move so quickly. He woke up with a few chest pains yesterday but they didn’t last long and he looked fine and has been fine ever since.
Strange day here. Not that warm sun and then dark and showers. Good luck with comps everyone.0 -
Hi everyone,
Been keeping up with all your news but have been very busy on our break.
Thats us back now. Had a very eventful break with a few things going wrong, including catching a stomach bug, having things wrong with first bedroom we stayed at (got upgraded after that) and a day where it rained the whole day. Did enjoy the most of it though especially Caerphilly Castle and seeing Barry Island.
Have been chasing up the Forest Holiday win and hopefully they are phoning first thing on Tuesday to finalise it.
Like the sound of the NZ comp thanks Alfie - not a rugby fan but would love to visit NZ!
Hope everyone is well and good luck to all.
Must get on.

Morning much colder here today. Typical bank holiday weekend.
Sheils sounds as though you had a very busy time. Sorry to hear about the tummy bug. Pleased you enjoyed Caerphilly castle and Barry island.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.0 -
Morning, welcome back sheils. It's been raining here on and off since 1am so think we are in for it all day.I have just finished housework so time to comp now. Hope you all have a good weekend.0

:hello: Good afternoon, Happy Star Wars Day!
It's my son's birthday today. :grinheart Can't believe
he now 33 years old, the time has just flown by!
We had a lovely video chat this morning, he's done so
well with pressies & cards. Little does he know that
his girlfriend has secretly arranged & booked a family
meal up in a London, (this Bank Holiday Monday) to
celebrate his day. Can't wait to see his face when he
arrives at the restaurant to see all of us there. :j :rotfl:
It's a bit bracing here today! We had rain through the
night, :j now it's a mix of sunshine & quite a gusty wind.
Ideal drying conditions for laundry (as long as nothing
gets blown off the line!). I've hung out quite a bit
this morning so keeping a watchful eye on it!
Was also out early giving my car a good wash, he seems
to have been used as target practise for all the local
birdies!
It's also World Naked Gardening Day .....
http://wngd.org/
..... and no, I definitely will not be participating - too
flipping chilly!:rotfl::rotfl:
Welcome back sheils. Sorry to hear about the tummy bug
but pleased that you enjoyed most of the break including
visiting Caerphilly Castle & Barry Island. Fingers crossed
you hear back re Forest Holiday confirmation on Tuesday
morning.
To be honest, I'm not really a Rugby fan either. My brother
used to play & some of the injuries were horrific.
^^^ He used to love this saying! :rotfl:
Have a brilliant Saturday all, take care.

singing away, all is well in my little world (for now!).
International Dawn Chorus Day
Sunday 5th of May, 2019
A celebration of nature's symphony
Taking place on the first Sunday of May, International Dawn
Chorus Day is the worldwide celebration of nature's greatest
symphony. All across the world people rise early to revel in the
sweet sound of birdsong, from rattling wrens in Rotherham to
crooning cowbirds in the Caribbean.
Every year there are early morning walks with experts to help you
enjoy a start to the day filled with birdsong. Use our event finder
to track down a Dawn Chorus walk near you.
And remember, if you can't make it to an event just open your
window - and listen...
Urban beginnings
Dawn Chorus Day has grown from a small event in Birmingham in
the 1980s to a global annual celebration, enjoyed in over eighty
countries. You don't need to be surrounded by countryside to
enjoy nature's symphony - cities have songbirds of their own.
Beyond the cooing of pigeons you could hear the serenade of
robins and blackbirds, the chatter of house sparrows and the
laughing calls of herring gulls, to name just a few!

Imagine spring without bird song. Imagine summer without a
bee’s busy buzz. 56% of UK wildlife is in decline and time’s running
out to protect what’s left. Spread the word – don’t let nature’s
music stop.

Hedgehog Awareness Week runs from 5th – 11th May 2019 and
hedgehoggy events are being organised all around the country!
Hedgehog Awareness Week is organised by the British Hedgehog
Preservation Society (BHPS) and takes place every year. It aims to
highlight the problems hedgehogs face and how you can help
them. This year the Charity is asking people to make a space for
hedgehogs to live in their garden, this could be in the form of a log
pile or wild area (that will also provide a buffet of creepy crawlies)
or a more formal hedgehog home. The Society has a free
downloadable plan for building a hedgehog home on their website
(https://www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk/hedgehog-homes).
There are many other simple things we can all do to help
hedgehogs:
Make sure there are CD case sized gaps in boundary fences and
walls to allow easy passage.
Move piles of rubbish to a new site before burning it.
Check areas carefully before mowing or strimming.
Ensure netting is kept at a safe height.
Check compost heaps before digging the fork in.
Stop or reduce the amount of pesticides and poisons used.
Cover drains or deep holes.
Ensure there is an easy route out of ponds & pools.
BHPS is hoping to raise £1,000 during Hedgehog Awareness Week
2019, You can donate to the 2019 #hedgehogweek appeal at
https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/HAW19
Leaflets and posters are available on the Charity’s website
https://www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk or they can post copies out on
request..... [Cont'd] >>
