Good morning, happy St. George's Day.
Hope you all had a wonderful long weekend - did the Easter
Bunny pay you a visit?
Had a brilliant time with family. :T :j Absolutely glorious
weather over the Easter weekend for everyone!
Looks as if the dry spell will end mid-week'ish with much needed
rain. The garden is now dry as a bone & plants/wildlife will be
thankful for a little bit of the wet stuff!

The Royal Society of St George
1894 - 2019: 125th Anniversary Year!
Recent political events in the United Kingdom have turned the
spotlight on the question of English identity. Political debate and
media pundits might lead you to believe that the English have only
just woken up to their patriotic passions. Let us assure you, this is
definitely not the case...
The Royal Society of St George – founded in 1894
For more than 125 years, the Royal Society of St George has been
England’s premier patriotic organisation, promoting and
celebrating the English way of life. With thousands of members,
more than 60 branches in England and over 30 around the world,
the Society organises a wide variety of social and fund raising
events, from marking significant moments in our history to
enjoying English food and drink.
Queen Victoria was the Society’s first Royal Patron and we have
since enjoyed the Patronage of every reigning monarch. In 1963
the Queen bestowed a notable honour by granting the Society its
own Royal Charter.
Each year we send flowers to Her Majesty on her birthday on April
21st.
Flying the flag
The St George’s Cross flag has been the national flag of England
since the 1300s and the Society campaigns for it to be flown
prominently around the country. In recent years it has been great
to see the flag flying at major sporting events but Society
members want to see it more widely in everyday life – flying from
public buildings, churches, educational establishments and even
private residences. It happens in many countries around the world,
so why not in England?
Celebrate St George’s Day
England’s neighbours celebrate their national days with fervour –
at home, around the world, and among their communities living in
England. So why is St George’s Day – April 23rd – such a low key
event? One of the Society’s long-running campaigns is to have St.
George’s Day declared a public holiday and to encourage
celebrations to be held in every village, town and city in the
country.... [Cont'd] >>

Been really enjoying the lovely weather here but this morning will be an end to it I thnk as showers due in afternoon. Typical when we are heading off to Wales tomorrow. ( Ewloe near Chester, Caerphilly, Barry Island, Abergavennay and last stop Oswestry) Nice decent size break.
DS3 has been here as he starts back at Gleneagles on 29th. Going to drop him at Lockerbie Railway station tomorrow as he is off to stay with DS2 for a few days. DS2 doesn't live that far from Gleneagles so handy.
DD busy with her last 2 exams and has just started her last 12 week placement. She is starting to apply for jobs now. The time has gone in fairly quickly. Her bf just has another week to do after this and then it will be his passing out parade. Then he gets 20 days off when he is really looking forward to. Staying in a Premier Inn for 14wks must seem a long time even if you get home at weekends.
Sounds like everyone has had a lovely Easter.
Wishing everyone lots of luck.

My car failed it's MOT, needs a little welding but she is 11 years old now so that's not bad. Got to pick it up later today. I did get some gardening done yesterday afternoon, put some plants in bigger pots and put out front in garden. May do a little more gardening later.Hope you all have a lucky day.0 -
Woke up to brilliant sunshine here. Don’t know if rain is forecast here too.
We had a very busy day yesterday. DS went back so we dropped him at station. We drove to cemetery to visit my friend’s grave but went in a different cemetery entrance and it took a long time to find her grave even though it only has a wooden cross. It’s a massive cemetery and I walked on ahead looking but when I turned around I couldn’t see DH. I thought now can’t find grave and have lost DH in a cemetery. He turned up in the car. Then it was him driving in car and me walking. As we were about to give up we found the grave. The ground was so dry. No rain for ages.
St George’s day would have been my friend’s 95th birthday. She died last November. Yes, Alfie GD was 4 yesterday. DD2 said she was up at 6am opening presents. She’s an early bird. Party is on Saturday. DD1 is taking her son down for it. Not sure yet if I’m going. Thanks for St George’s info Alfie.
Well last week we had a surprise that this friend has left me some money but cheque had an extra e in my surname. I have not been to the bank for years. Go down to find machines and one counter. Lots of people standing about not knowing what to do. One young assistant trying to help everyone. Eventually when I saw her she said bank would not accept cheque. My other query she said needed more ID. I only had Freedom Pass. So she asked for a signature she went off, came back and said it wasn’t good enough. To do it again. Bare in mind I don’t ever remember giving a signature but it’s years since we used cheques and my right hand has some arthritis. In the end she said they would do my request but I had to queue at the counter and answer security questions. At one point I had been second in that queue and told I was in wrong place by now there were eight angry people in queue and they were due to close. As I’ll have to go back with a different cheque I left. I’m not a stressed person but it was stressful being around all those people and this is progress. I even got on the wrong bus to go home.
At home I sat down and thought oh for a coffee. I asked DH if DD1 had phoned yes, he said he’d forgotten she wanted us to pick GS up from childminder as she had to work late. It was already time we needed to leave. We have not done this for ages but it’s nearly end of April and she works in the city in finance. You need to allow an hour for a twenty minute car journey at that time. Life really has progressed.
Sheils hope you have a good journey to Wales and you miss some of the rain. Been thinking your DD must have finals coming up. Time seems to have gone quickly. Hope she finds the job she wants without too much travelling. Great your DS visited.
Forgot to say I too won 10 and 20p on humming bird. I also won a children’s book and yesterday heard I’ve won an Easter Egg on Instagram.
Enough chat better crack on. Good luck everyone.0
