Never been to Hamleys but my neice use to take my DS there every year and then her kids when she lived in Bromley. I am glad you had a good day and getting that toy for half price was a bargain. My son is just getting into Jazz but it's not my thing. My dad was a big fan.Well done on the book win.0

:T Well done on your book win leanfun & bargain buy from
Hamleys! :T :j
We used to love taking the kids into Hamleys all those years
ago, can remember all the floors and toys!! Also used to
visit Harrods Toy Department, could never afford to
splash out but still loved to have a nose! :rotfl:
Never seen such an array of every type of toy imaginable &
how much money people had! Unbelievable!!
We used to treat kids to smaller, more reasonably priced
toys which were in the Harrods sale!
On a different note - interesting article below, particularly
the final paragraph of the Aftermath. _pale_
Today in 1911...the Siege of Sidney Street. Two armed anarchists
are holed up at 100 Sidney Street, London. Surrounded by police,
a fierce gun battle breaks out. Home Secretary Winston Churchill
gives permission for the army to be deployed and at noon Churchill
himself comes to watch the action, putting himself at risk by
taking up a position close to the firing line. Three police officers
are killed.
Siege of Sidney Street
Nowhere in the world is as famous for its murders as the East End
of London. Jack the Ripper, the Krays, the Ratcliffe Highway
murders of 1811 are all cases for the connoisseur of crime.
Matching these were two related cases which occurred in
December 1910 and January 1911; the Houndsditch murders and
the Siege of Sidney Street which left three police officers dead and
three more seriously injured. [Cont'd] >>>

It is nice to be getting back to normal here. Went to see parents earlier and called in at Tesco on way back and got quite a few bargains including a small frozen turkey, 2 huge packs of casserole steak, box of crackers, selection of cheese and few other things. Didn't have any turkey over the festivities so looking forward to it. Ds3 coming down on the 9th so another Xmas celebration! We saw him on the 31st and 1st at DS2s but this will be his first chance to come home.
Well done on another book win leanfun. Hope your present to GS got there ok yesterday.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

:hello: Good morning all
I'm just back from a lovely walk in the forest - it's a
beautiful sunny day here and not chilly either. Saw quite a
few ponies enjoying the sunshine, also loads of doggy walkers
out and about, making the most.
Today is the day the Christmas tree comes down. I've already
pre-warned the puddy cat!At the moment she's sending up
the zzzz's on a comfy armchair in the corner of the lounge ....
doubt she'll be there for long when she sees what's occurring
to 'her' beloved tree! :rotfl::rotfl:
Have a lovely & lucky day all and please take care whatever
your plans.

Morning. It was a really brrr.. day here yesterday, even though it was sunny. We picked GS up from child care centre and had to have all our winter woolies on. He’s here this morning as DD has had to go into work and he’s not a happy bunny.
Sheils I sent GS a Harry Potter game through John Lewis. It’s odd but some of their toys are good prices. I had an email to say it had been delivered to a neighbour on the 2nd. In the end I messaged ex DIL yesterday and she said he had just received it and was pleased.
On line I’ve bought DD2s 3 year old lots of dolls things from Hamleys at half price or less. For Christmas i bought her a picnic set for £12 which had absolutely everything in it and came in a zipped container. It would have been good valve for £24. Also bought a toy dish washer for £15. She is mega into dolls and was so delighted. She had a picnic with her dolls in the bay in the front bedroom.
Well I’ve been on a roll with WEMs. When I looked up the book I won was from an author I’d signed up with emails. Next day I had an email from a book club to say I’d won a book. Same day I won a scarf. Yesterday’s WEM from click to win Mother and Baby was for AlOka Sleepy lights.
So two books, a scarf and lights over two days.
Particularly pleased with the lights win as I have only entered a couple of click to wins since Advents.
Hope there are some more wins in the Inn soon. Good luck all.
Take care and keep warm.0 -
Been fairly cloudy here but not cold. Looking forward to getting away to Newcastlefor a couple of nights and then DS3 coming on 9th.
Bought some Xmas paper and cards in Tesco yesterday so all set for next Xmas! :rotfl:
Well done on more wins leanfun. Not sure what has happened to my luck - used to be fairly lucky a few years ago. Have won £2 from GfK Media so starting to build up my Amazon account again as taken some of my Quidco cashback and winnings as Amazon too. Bought lots of my Xmas presents from my Amazon account.
Hope you got the tree down safely Alfie.
Hope everyone is getting back to normal and good luck to all.

Morning, cold and frosty here this morning. I went into work yesterday, they had 4 permanat staff phone in sick. Knew some would as they were offered time and a half for any extra shifts they did so of course most did as many as they could before christmas for extra money and are now paying for it. I did try to warn them as see it every year in different homes i go to but they learnt the hard way.Never mind. When i came out of work after 8 last night i had to scrape the ice off the car, it was that cold.I have dropped son and GF off at work, popped into Tesco for a few bits and am now relaxing. Not doing much else today.
Well done on the wins lenfun, good start to the year.Hope you all have a good weekend.0 -
:hello: Good morning all,
Brrrrr! Same here indie - had to remove the ice from the birdy
baths before topping them up with more water! Got another
brisk walk in this morning, said hello to all the ponies, thankfully
they didn't answer me back.
Yep sheils, decs are all down here now including the Xmas
tree ...... puddy cat was not a happy bunny! She did her very
best to playfully disrupt me & it actually took most of the day
but I finally got there in the end! She appears to be ignoring
me today - can't imagine why!
:T Very well done on all your lovely wins leanfun, brilliant start
to the New Year! :T :j
Waes Hael! It's Twelfth Night...
Wassailing
by Ellen Castelow
Anglo-Saxon tradition dictated that at the beginning of each year,
the lord of the manor would greet the assembled multitude with
the toast waes hael, meaning “be well” or “be in good health”, to
which his followers would reply drink hael, or “drink well”, and so
the New Year celebrations would start with a glass or two, or
perhaps even a drop more! It is likely that such celebrations were
being enjoyed many years before Christianity began to spread
throughout Britain from around 600 onwards.
Depending upon the area of the country where you lived, the
wassail drink itself would generally consist of a warmed ale, wine
or cider, blended with spices, honey and perhaps an egg or two, all
served in one huge bowl and passed from one person to the next
with the traditional “wassail” greeting.
The Wassailing celebrations generally take place on the Twelfth
Night, 5th January, however the more traditional still insist in
celebrating it on ‘Old Twelvey’, or the 17th January, the correct
date; that is before the introduction of the Gregorian calendar
messed things up in 1752..... [Cont'd] >>>
