Morning everyone. Dull and cloudy here this morning. Have decided I need to book a break away so have been looking at whats available. Not seen anything I fancy yet but I'm sure something will jump out at me. Hope I find everyone well. Off to put kettle on.0

:hello: Good morning everyone
I hope you're all ok.It's a lovely weather start to the
day here so I'll be out in the garden attempting to finish the
on-going task of painting the garden loungers.
Went out there yesterday with every intention of cracking on
with them but got distracted by other things!
Pannage Season started yesterday, I receive quite a lot of info
from New Forest Roads Campaign & they sent info re piggies
the other day:
The picture they actually sent had pigs on the front with a
message written across them saying: Watch out! WATCH
OUT! There's pigs about!
Plus the following ....
DRIVERS! Just to make sure you know that the PANNAGE SEASON
starts on MONDAY 10TH September when PIGS and PIGLETS will
be turned out on to the Forest to eat the ACORNS. Please note,
that as one woman put it recently, they are DEVILISHLY WRIGGLY
and can suddenly shoot across the road. Please drive carefully to
avoid hitting one. They will be out for AT LEAST FOUR WEEKS.
Sadly received this from them yesterday evening ....
The Pannage season has just started, but already two pigs
have died on the roads this year. All of these animals are there to
do a job and not there for public entertainment. The Forest would
not be the unique place it is without them. PLEASE RESPECT
STOCK AND REMEMBER THEY ARE ON THE ROADS DAY AND
NIGHT.
Poor piggies - as with all animal accidents in the New Forest,
they didn't stand a chance.
Anyhow must get on, off to the supermarket this morning to
get some provisions in before I get on with the 'oh so boring'
painting chore!
Have a lovely & lucky day all and please take care whatever
your plans.

Morning sunny here today. Yesterday was really warm so I was amazed that I managed to catch up with washing and it’s ironed already.
Hope to garden today. Alfie good luck with you seats hope you finish today before rain comes. Very interesting about the forest and the pigs. People are just in too much of a rush today.
Lo Indie and Sheils no luck with winning a bed. I’ve been going in for them too for DS.
Rose hope something does pop out at you for a break.
Big hugs for anyone needing one. Good Luck everyone.0 -
Apostrophes are back. Great.0

Had a seriously wet night but sun out now so hopefully it will stay and dry the grass a bit. Really need to get the grass cut before we head off again.
Must admit I get panicky driving on unfenced roads Alfie. In Scotland it is usually only sheep in really quiet places but when they have lambs they can be unpredictable. I am not sure it is always the drivers fault.
Hope you find a nice break rose. Are you going to go abroad?
I was caught up on washing too leanfun but have found some more to do as DS3 is supposed to be coming today and is sure to have some with him.
Must get on.

:hello: Good morning everyone
Hope you're all ok & taking it easy on this 'very quiet day'!
Shhh! It’s National Quiet Day on Wednesday 12th September 2018
https://quietday.co.uk/
It's a glorious wet start to the day here!Couldn't have come
at a better time! Will do the garden a power of good, saves me
having to water the patio plants by hand plus I spent a brilliant
few days getting on with stuff gardening wise including mowing
the lawns - happy days!
Lovely of your cousin to give you a gift after you looked after
nephew thru the summer school holidays indie. :A Very well
deserved. :T
You've hit the nail on the head leanfun re animal accidents &
people being in too much of a rush these days.
Went out for a leisurely drive in the forest yesterday, just after
lunchtime, (and to have a break from painting). Destination
Beaulieu - one of my favourite places.
Had a wonderful drive there, plenty of horses, cattle and donkeys
milling around doing their own thing. Loads of sensible drivers
too, all keeping a watchful eye out/showing respect for the
beautiful forest stock.
Majority of the animal deaths occur in the forest through people
speeding - really makes my blood boil.Always used to
be overtaken by 'morons' but haven't been lately. It could be
since I put my sticker on the rear car window 'New Forest Ponies
don't dent, they die'. If it makes people think twice then that can
only be a good thing. :T
On a different note, found the following very interesting - had
no idea .....
THERE’S AN UNDERGROUND FARM IN LONDON, AND IT’S
INCREDIBLE
The Future of Food?
Walking along the busy streets of Clapham in South London, you'd
never guess that 108 feet under the pavement there is a fully-
functioning farm, that's growing produce being sold in the
supermarkets of London.
Swapping sunlight for LEDs, Growing Underground is a new way of
farming, sustainably growing fresh greens, from coriander to
sweet pea shoots, in a bid to revolutionise the way we grow our
food. And it has already gained huge popularity, with celebrity fans
such as Raymond Blanc and Michel Roux Jr.
Built in a former World War II air-raid shelter, Growing
Underground is the brainchild of friends Richard and Steven, who
embarked on the ambitious project to create sustainable, hyper-
local and tasty produce.
The tunnels were originally created to protect up to 8,000 people
from air raids during the 1940s. Now, however, it's home to
thousands of seeds that are grown, harvested and packed ready to
be sold onto supermarkets such as M&S and Waitrose, food
delivery brands like Farm Drop, and at New Covent Garden Market
to go to some of London's best restaurants...... >>>

Morning, raining here as well but not cold. Like you Alfie it saves watering the plants. Thanks for the link re the underground farm. I saw it on a programme a few months ago and it is amazing. We just don't know what goes on underfoot as there are so many tunnels ect that some of them get used for great things.Took Charlie to the vet and he has to go in for a small op this morning as he has a cyst inbetween his toes and to make sure nothing is in the middle of it they are going to clean it out and then put him on anti-biotics. I thought he had just scratched it and was keeping it clean but it could be a grass seed or rose thorn in there. He is not happy with me as i put a cone on him and he don't like it. When i speak to him he ignores me and turns his back to me,lol. Worst than a child he is. Hope you all have a lucky day.0
-
Aww! Lol at the cone indie! I can remember both my dogs (in the
past) & my cat having to wear the 'cone of shame' at various
times! They also kept bumping into things! I used to get ignored
too! :rotfl: As you say, worse than kids! Fingers n paws crossed
for Charlie, hope all goes well today with his op.

Afternoon all. Had a lazy morning. Hip and shoulder are really sore. Neighbour made me lunch as she was trying out a new recipe she had got hold off. It was chicken, smoked sausage noodles and a sauce. Was lovely but is now lying im my stomach like a brick. So it will be a light meal for me later. Electrician is putting in a new outside light for me as old one has been tempremental for a while and the sensor wasn't working properly. No rain here so far today but there was some during the night. Hope you are all well.0
