Morning folks. Lovely bright morning here. DS is home he arrived early evening yesterday:j:j:j. DIL picked him up and he came in and picked up his car as he is working today. He has reports etc to put in. DIL told him about me being hit by a car and he was worried until he saw I was OK. Told them about banging my toe and we had a good laugh about it. It is still throbbing but I'll survive. Hope everyone is well. Take care peeps.

Morning, happy first of September. Thanks for the links and competition Alfie. I got most of the fence painted sheils have around 3 quarters of 1 side left to do. It is taking 2 coats to cover so will do the rest monday and tuesday, weather permitting. We had a film crew at work yesterday just making a film to show in there other homes as they started a new thing for residents. On the dementia floor they have a dining experience where they all eat together in one room and the home scored 100% when officials came out. I was working on another floor so i won't be in it, not that i wanted to be,lol. I am off till wednesday now and will have nephew on monday as he has an inset day on the first day back, that 6 weeks went quick.Anyway trying to catch up with comps today, hope you all have a lovely weekend.
  • Morning all..It's a beautiful day here. Alfie..those Whale Sharks issues (and others) annoy me so much. I studied Environmental Sciences right from Gcse to Uni level. I wanted to become something Possibly Marine Biologist. I despise how we travel but make it seem like we are helping, when it comes th things such as drugging lions so we can have a photo taken, . To me even touching something so natural just seems like I am invading them somehow. Different if they come up to me. Did you see the 300 endangered Turtles found dead as they had become caught in a trawling net . Tragic.
    Ho hum. Postitive things.
Children are being nice to each other.
    It's a stunning day here.
    No pain today.
We Have new neighbours (again..Although sad to miss our "snowball fight" Pals who have gone to pastures new)
I have caught up on comps and have enough time to knit (I'm thinking something short and chunky winter Yoga style)
I won £1000. I still can't get my head around it. But I am paying off OD ..a Bill and Hope I should have some pennys left for a short break to Dublin with the family in October.

Have a wonderful weekend all , hugs , love and light to all x

    Morning,

Been such a busy week but got everything done with house, garden, car and parents! Heading off to Bridlington after breakfast (and when DH wakens!)
Weather has been pretty dreadful here with rain and mist so hoping the sun stays out in Brid until we get there.

Saw you had won £1,000 mummy2, great news and hope you have enough left for your break. Everything seems so expensive these days.

    Wishing everyone a lucky week.

    :hello: Good morning everyone

It's another beautiful day here & I'd better knuckle down to
getting on with painting the wooden garden furniture!

You're so good with getting on with everything indie - including
boring painting! :p Love the sound of the 'dining experience' on
dementia floor where you work - think it's wonderful seeing all
the brilliant work being carried out nowadays re helping people
    with dementia. :A :T

I totally agree with you mummy2 re. treatment of animals
especially to enhance 'holiday enjoyment' for humans!!!
It's cruel and disgraceful - poor suffering creatures - all slowly
    disappearing, one by one. _pale_

Anyway - on a much happier note - mega congrats on winning
    £1,000! :T I only realised yesterday after I'd pm'd a comp to
leanfun and she asked me if I'd seen your post in the 'I won!'
    section. What a wonderful & well-deserved prize! :A :T

Have a brilliant time at Bridlington sheils & hope the weather
    is gorgeous for you there!

Forgot to mention yesterday ...... has anyone been watching
Britain by Bike with Larry & George Lamb, Channel 5 (Friday)?

It's fascinating, they're cycling through the Peak District &
taking part in all the quirky customs (which I try to post daily in
the Betty thread) including well dressing, Castleton Garland & :D ...

^^ They missed the actual race day but the pub had set up a
mini hen race for them - it was hilarious! :rotfl:

Also loved watching the Castleton Garland (I was on a break
with family so missed posting it on that particular day).

    https://youtu.be/cqAO8FLKZ-c

The complete Garland weighs about 56 pounds and just before the
start of the ceremony is lifted onto the shoulders of the `King`
who is dresseed in Stuart costume.

Hope you're all ok on what looks to be another warm n'
sunny start to the week here. soleil07j.gif

Ideal conditions to carry on with boring painting chore re
garden furniture. _pale_ I managed to crack on for about
an hour yesterday before I got distracted. :p It actually
took me quite a time to brush off all the cobwebs again -
I just knew all the spiders would be scuttling back - they
must have thought they'd be safe n' settled for the winter
months! :D Little did they know! spider.gif

    drapeaugb.gif It's 'Merchant Navy Day' today .....

Since 2000, Merchant Navy Day on 3rd September has honoured
the brave men and women who kept our 'island nation' afloat
during both World Wars, and celebrated our dependence on
modern day merchant seafarers who are responsible for 95% of
the UK's imports, including half the food we eat, plenty of the fuel
we burn and virtually all the products and goods we take for
    granted!'

For the fourth year running, Seafarers UK is campaigning for the
Red Ensign - the UK Merchant Navy's official flag - to be flown on
3rd September on civic buildings and landmark flagpoles across
the UK. Parish, community, town, city, district and borough
councils are all invited to take part, along with higher-tier local
    authorities and governments.

There are many locations where the Red Ensign can be freely flown
ashore - civic centres, town halls, public libraries, village greens,
churches, sports venues, historic buildings, tourist attractions,
    ports, etc.

    What is Zero Waste Week?

Zero Waste Week is a grassroots campaign raising awareness of
the environmental impact of waste and empowering participants to
    reduce waste.

Launched in 2008, the campaign is conducted almost exclusively
online via this website, e-newsletters and social media.

Whilst Zero Waste Week formally runs for one week in September,
regular newsletters and fresh blog content is sent out throughout
the year. Our friendly online community share practical

    :hello: Good morning everyone

Hope you're all ok today. :) So sorry to hear that your nephew
had been poorly through the night indie, hope he's feeling
    a little better today.

Well, managed to 'sort of finish' painting one item of garden
furniture yesterday. :j It took me ages (very fiddly to do). Plus
it was very warm out, which didn't help. However I persevered.
One down - two more to go! The two recliner chairs are going to
be a nightmare to paint - they're very similar to the one in photo
below (when they were new, years & yonks ago! :p).

    s-l300.jpg

Still, I was fairly pleased with how the newly painted bench
turned out so I'm determined to crack on with the other
two pieces now. It'll be a happy happy day when that
particular job is done & dusted! :j:j

When I was googling for info yesterday evening (re Betty
thread morning post), I came across the following. Have
added it to my list of events. :)
