I expect it will take up to 12 months. That's the realistic quote with a business broker. I have contacted one before and another one today, to see what they say. The selling fees will be large, and that may be my sticking point. As ideally I would need to find that out of the sale. But I may need some fees upfront.

I still have a lease until next September. So I will have to hope that it is done by then.

I am not sure about another thread at the moment, but it might be an option. I will think about it.

Just be careful with the contracts they are salesmen and will promise you the earth maybe for a small fee but there may well be a sting in the tail even if they don't sell. Someone close to me got stung and they promised so much and told them business would sell due to their fantastic network of investors but all he actually got was a few internet adverts. Just be careful get someone legal to read the contract or stick it on MSE before you sign or even better try and sell it yourself. In the end my family member didn't sell but it cost him £4500 in fees for a very small business due to the clauses he had signed with them.

    Good luck with it all.

I went to see DS at the old house and was shocked to see every room still full of things, large furniture etc and the washing machines etc still in situation. I went to the new house and it was full of stuff in random places in every room, with the decoration half done in every room!
I was not very happy with them, remember I had paid for a van for them for 5 days. What a waste of space my Son and his GF are. They were trying to move without any boxes for a start.
So I have organised boxes for today. Some anyway.
As I have help in the shop I am planning to go over this morning, take the boxes and start packing and debunking. DS and GF have meetings and then he is working tonight. ( she worked last night), so knowing how useless they are I have taken a set of keys so I can start before they get there- and I have plenty of black sacks up my sleeve!)
I cannot leave them to Muddle through because ultimately every week they delay is another weeks rent they don't have, and I cannot afford either.
I am so miffed with them at the moment. Where is their common sense and gumption!
She's complaining she's too tired, and he's complaining that she's not helping and he can't do it on his own!
I will be so glad when I finally get them out of that house and I start putting my own stuff through the MariKondo method and free up my head from all the clutter. I woke at 2 and again at 4.45 what is with 4.45???
Bad dreams all stemming from yesterday.

So sleeves up, bossy boots on, and into the day.
I will try to get the idiots sorted out ASAP

    Thankyou Valuable advice.
I might have to advertise it myself, but first I need some valuations, a solicitor and as much advice I can get.
I will take a look around the forums over the next few days.
    Thanks x

    I am shattered.
I wish I could post pictures of the place but then again I am too embarrassed! I spent 4 hours tidying/packing the house before my son and Gf turned up. By then I had done the whole of the upstairs, including lifting and folding the carpets in two rooms, and cleaned our a glory hole.
When they finally turned up, I had started on the kitchen, but I had to go home, have a shower and go back to work for fittings. This evening Dgd had her school disco.
Oh and just to add to the mix my hand brake cable snapped, while parked on a slope, and if you want a laugh my knicker elastic failed so I ended up being very greatful for the fact I had jeans on!!

  • Sounds like a helluva day . If you manage nothing else find some proper downtime for yourself over the weekend . I expect the shoulder and arm wont react well to all the work you did today so rest when you can .
I wont laugh at the knicker elastic positive is if they're fixable you have elastic and can do it . Thank goodness for jeans!

    Sleep tight

Why...why are you doing this for two people who are perfectly healthy and work part-time so they have plenty of time??? If they are moving house, they should pack up their old place before moving in, what is this crazyness? YOU paid for 5 days of the van rental, which I already think is very excessive for moving, and they didn't even use it! And now YOU are packing up their house. Have they no shame??

Maybe you were worried about them having to pay two rents, but...that's what people do if they can't get their act together! Suffer the consequences of being lazy idiots! Jesus Mooloo, they aren't 5 years old, they have 2 children! How are they going to cope if and BIG IF they are given their poor kids back, which I'm sorry to say I sincerely hope doesn't happen now? Unbelievable. I am so angry on your behalf, and a little at you now for keeping on propping them up when you have zero yourself.
