A big thank you for the chart kathrynha and for so kindly taking over from shala. You're an absolute star!:T

I think the result of the last challenge (virtually 60% of target achieved) is really good. Like most RL groups we had a few who started and gave up which messes the statistics a bit but particularly for the lead up to Christmas you've done really well.:T

Looking forward (and welcome new joiners:)), although there will be personal celebrations and events, the coming weeks shouldn't have the temptations of Christmas parties and the like.

Like you midge, my aim is to get well down into target range (It's the same for denise but she's got to have a holiday first:D).

Today is likely to be my best day since before the holiday. I'm working towards getting back properly at the end of the week.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, scrambled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: LO pork and veg with pickles
    D: SW spaghetti Bolognese
    Syns: squirt of HP, parmesan.

No wine syns planned, unless we have an amazing win tonight and I might need to celebrate!:D

P.S. Out of curiosity greentiger, why did you weigh your roast beef?

    I had wondered the same.

  • Hi all - is it ok if I crawl out of lurking and join in the weight loss challenge - I've been maintaining my 1.5 stone weight loss with SW for the last year with no progress - totally taking the hand by basically eating more or less SW Monday to Friday - losing the plot at the weekends and drinking too much wine in general.

My daughter got married in October and I felt quite happy with my dress and how I looked - but I still have a good 3 stone left to lose. I'd be just really happy losing a lb a week - slow and steady and not too hard work lol

For the challenge I'd like to lose 8 lbs but I'll put myself down for 7lb as I do have a 5 day all inclusive holiday coming up in two weeks so I'll have a bit of ground to make up after that I think (well I never gain too much on holidays as we're normally so active - walking up to 6 or 7 miles a day)

I went back to class on Thursday past (couldn't make my normal Saturday class as we were at a wedding) and went back with a 2lb gain after Christmas - I'm up at least one more since then thanks to NY but back on track today.

    B: FF yogurt and berries
L: HM leek and potato soup and a green apple
D: Veggi chilli made with green lentils - I had this last night and it was yummy - with basmati rice
(do you think I need to add a 1/3 speed with this as it's mostly veggies anyway)

I got an actifryer for my birthday (again I was trying to justify the money for one gadget - so that's why I got everyone to bunch in and buy me one) and I have to say I love it!

I got a pressure cooker for Christmas - it's fab - I batch cooked my leek and potato soup yesterday in 15 minutes!! and I won a slow cooker at my SW group before Christmas so you could say I have no excuse as to prepping good healthy food!

Plus my new resolution is to get toned - I have a rowing machine at home (gathering dust) and I'm hoping to do 15 minutes on it a day and also get my 10000 steps.

(Did I say happy new year?? Happy new Year!!)

I've perfected making SW chips after picking up ideas from various posters. I'm not sure if all steps are essential but it works for me so I'm sticking with it! :) I always use Maris Piper and cut the chips quite chunky (more steak chips than fries). I parboil for 5 mins then spread on one of those mesh trays from £ shop. Leave to cool if possible then spray and bake in a hottish oven (at least 200 ideally) for about 30 mins. I put the tray straight on the oven shelf and turn the tray round at least once during cooking.
I do SW roasties in exactly the same way (except for slicing of course:p).

This is the technique I went with but they were a tad pale so I wasn't sure on them

I'm just doing my roasties in my Actifry as I read this. It's actually my second one as I wore the first one out. I think they are pretty good to be honest - chips and roasties come out more golden and crisp than they do when they are baked in the oven with only a tiny amount of oil.

we're looking at getting an actifry. just need to decide if I definitely want on!

    today:
    breakfast: sweetclem, strawberries and grapes
lunch: more soup (1 syn for horseradish in it) - just a mug full because I also have a beef salad (left over roast beef, spinach, cucumber, yellow pepper, tomato)
afternoon: sweet clem, grapes and strawberries
tea: not sure yet. will decide once home

    hea: milk in brews
heb: not decided yet maybe 2 hifi light this evening

The final chart has now been added to the last tread, with Caterina and ChrisV as joint SOTW.

Thanks kathrynha - imagine, SOTW with a ½lb loss :o

It was just the incentive I needed at the minute though :)
I've got the post Christmas blues already :(, and was just pondering what to eat - so I've had an orange :rotfl:

Probably the only time of the year a ½lb loss will get you SOTW. I am so impressed with all that have maintained or lost over the last few weeks.

Glad it has given you the incentive you needed

  • Hellow everyone, can I join in too please. I'll aim for 21lbs by 4th March. I've around 5 stone to lose (how'd that happen??). Meal and exercise plan done, it's sticking to it that's the problem. Started back on SW today and the plan is:
    B: Egg Muffins
    L: Tuna & Quinoa Salad
D: Lemony pasta with greens (from the latest mag). Snacks are fruit and HEA will either be cheese or milk. HEB = Alpen bars.

    Good luck everyone x

Hi all and Happy New Year!

Would it be ok if I joined the challenge? I have lurked/posted on here before and recognise many of you. I'll go for 7lbs off if possible- I don't have a target as such but looking to shift around a stone then see how I'm feeling. I'm going solo but have been to groups before and may rejoin depending how I get on :)

Well done Caterina and ChrisV - brilliant to get a loss this time of year! and thanks Kathryn for keeping up with the charts - hope this year brings you good news on the health front.

Change of plan for dinner/tea today. The brisket that I slow cooked yesterday was delicious and as there's quite a bit left I'll make a sheperds pie style meal for me tonight with veg. Veggie OH says he's having some soup I made earlier today from my enormous stock of Aldi half price cauli and broccoli.

Welcome all the newbies to this lovely supportive thread and good luck all.
