Went and bought my socks. They came to £12, so £2 reduces with the £10 voucher. They surprised me by honouring the 20% sparks discount off the remaining £2, so I paid £1.60. Just a heads up to use the discount with the voucher if anyone else receives it19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!

Haven't been on since my last posting - So a few spends have occurred - woolly hats & gloves for my & hubby. During the recent snows - it turned out that hubby lost his gloves & hat - so new ones for him and it turned out for me, that my leather gloves which are good for the cold where not good for the minus figures during the cold snap. I also accidentally washed a woolly hat that shrunk my woolly hat - so needed a new one.
Nothing was bought at full price, all in the sale £20.96.
Hope all are OK...0 -
I first saw this challenge in 2012 and I decided to fully committ to it in 2013. During first few months I was feeling strong and kept the urges away. As time went by I did buy several items of clothing in that year but I felt guilty about it every time because I broke my own promise. Those several months of "detox" really kicked in a new habit for me. Something changed in me. Not purchasing new items was followed by donating lots I already owned to a charity.
After decluttering my wardrobe I went on to declutter other parts of my life and belongings. Fast forward 5 years and while I am not a minimalist I own very little amount of clothes. I can fit everything I own for all seasons in one suitcase. In fact, I do not have much personal items apart from books which I keep giving away when I read them but pile is not reducing hugely because I am adding new ones. I still own sofa, armchair, kettle, toaster and things like that which I use with my partner but everything is functional and few in numbers, I used money I saved buying things to invest in my financial and human capital. Some was spent on travelling.
Somehow with less items I feel much happier now then 5 years ago. My mind is clear and burden free.
Not sure who came up with the idea of this thread but whoever did I am ever so grateful to them! thank you! :j
Good luck to everyone who is pursuing the challenge this year. It is well worth it.0 -
Shy wave from the sidelines...
Is it too late to join this challenge? We have just had new bedroom furniture and it has given me a chance to sort through all our clothes. I literally need nothing. What I do need to do is slim back down into at least half the items now hanging forlornly in the wardrobe. Now that's a challenge!
Essential purchases only - underwear for example...x0 -
Can I join too please? My wardrobe is in need of a good sort out, but even at a glance I know I don't need any new clothes. So like Dizzy Imp I'm only going to need essential things only (tights/socks etc). Thanks.0

#6 checking in to say that March had no spends on clothes but my partner bought me a jacket for £12 in the sale down from £30. He paid for it so it doesn't count lol.
I have spend only £1 in April on a pair of novelty socks when I was on a day trip with my partner. When life throws you a curveball, learn to catch it and throw it back! Feb Grocery Challenge/£1000 -
