Also simply documenting crimes isn't really enough, people will stop bothering to report crimes and criminals will see a free lunch. Appearing to do something, even if futile, is a deterrent and builds relations with the public.
Imagine if people didn't report more devestating crimes because they didn't think they'd be taken seriously?
I understand the police is under more pressure with cuts and internet crime, but in this day and age why are we getting less service? Start going to church, hour a week for free parking seems like a deal. Like parents going to church to avoid school fees for a good school.0

But in your experience what more could they do?
The council weren’t forthcoming with cctv evidence, you don’t know who the offeneder(s) were and none of the locals reported seeing the offence take place.
What’s to be gained by sending someone out when it can be done ove the phone or online.
This is the unfortunate result when David Cameron said front line policing won’t be effected by the cuts.0
