Nowhere to park! Need advice

I privately rent a flat and only recently got a car, but there is no parking with the property, no free parking any where near by either. There is a church with a car park around the back that I usually use. There are no signs are either entrance saying no parking or private late, there aren't any bays in the car park either or any barriers. I park as out of the way as i can and move it when I can see it is a busy time.
I was approached this morning by someone telling me not to park there or theyll take further action. I've contacted the council before and they said there is no where around for me to have a permit and I cant afford £900 every six months to park in a public car park!
Can they take any action?! Am I allowed to park there?! Is there anything I can do if Not?! Thanks!

As it will be private property there are several measures they can take to prevent you parking, bollards, gate etc.

Just park further away and walk if you're not willing to rent somewhere with parking.

Or sell the car and manage without, as you must have done before you bought it.
  • You should have budgeted for parking costs before purchasing your car.
  • What does everyone else in the block do?

Is it a Christian church? If so, they should forgive you.;)

Move somewhere with parking, do without a car, park further away or carry on parking in the churchyard and hope it’s an empty threat

Where I live is a church opposite, they have a car park they share with adjacent offices, used to be open but now it is locked (gated) at night and weekends except during church service times.

    Can you rent someone's driveway?

Did this come as a surprise?

Anybody else's private land you'd view as fair game? Somebody's drive? An office, factory or shop's car park?
I was approached this morning by someone telling me not to park there or theyll take further action.
    And who can blame them?
I've contacted the council before and they said there is no where around for me to have a permit and I cant afford £900 every six months to park in a public car park!
Yes, that's often the situation in urban centres.
    Can they take any action?!
The most likely route is that they'll close off the land. Since wheel-clamping and towing were made illegal, their only other route is to appoint a private parking company, who will put signage up and issue invoices. Many people think that the concept of stopping people parking where they shouldn't is absolutely despicable, and there's an entire sub-forum here devoted to helping people escape the consequences of parking with impunity on other people's land.
Am I allowed to park there?!
Of course you aren't. Why would you even think you are?
Is there anything I can do if Not?!
Move to somewhere you can park - or sell the car.
