Morning Mrs Salad Dodger! Wow that’s enough housework to last until Christmas - well done! Have a good decluttering day.0
-
Mrs SD your poor hubby.I seem to remember when I was a student nurse working in the eye ward that patients with a detached retina were told to lie on their front as much as possible to help keep the retina in place....I don't know if this advice has changed.
I took about 12 picture frames to the cs today.Still got to go there with the pet carrier ,teapot and butter dish.Tomorrow hopefully.
Someone came to pick up the medium sized bookcase and will come back tomorrow for the large one.
eta I also got rid of three Swiss flags and a Union Jack: given to a friend.0 -
Mrs SD I hope OH eye will be okay. It's awful when u have a nightmare time at a hospital, especially when u thought the operation was happening after ur OH was right to ring 111 and get himself checked out and a confirmation of diagnosis so quickly
I like quick hospital appointments, I get fidgety otheriwse:rotfl:
3 wasps decluttered today. They either have the basic bin funeral or the deluxe aqua funeral with optional waterfall/whirlpool effects!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I had found an old spray of DDs that u put on ur pillow to help u sleep. There isn't a lot left in the bottle and when checking out the contents found that it contains oils that wasps don't like.......so i like to think I have been decluttering the last of the contents by spraying upstairs with it each morning. It seems to be working:T
Today
*298-306 items(8) taken to the CS
*307 charity auction item posted
*308 Packaging for the above used up
I have to admit I still have a fair way to go on my decluttering travels. It started when the spare room became a dumping ground:( for everything including DDs old cuddly toys. I remember a friend staying and commenting about the state of the room when they were staying but my hands were tied until I had further house adaption work completed. As soon as those works were completed we gutted the spare room, got it decorated, new flooring and i didn't want to clutter it back up. The clutter was now in my room!!
I started to slowly sort it out and then a charity branch I support put out an appeal for cuddlies for summer tombolas. I set about sending parcels of cuddlies and extra present items I had bought 'just in case' to the branch:j.
When my friend came to stay again they were shocked at how different the room was and it is so so easy to keep clean. Will become a treatment room after my surgery.
The storage I had bought (cheap from home bargains) looks very arty but minimalistic so the favourite cuddly toys and bits of DDs that I wanted to keep plus some precious family stuff is now neatly packed away but still accessible and the room looks very 'roomy' in terms of space:j Seeing how the room has turned out has pushed me forward into doing the same with the living room......this is still work in progress but getting there slowly:):):ADecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Decluttering challenge 2024 🏅🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️0 -
1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)
3. THE LAST WASHING UP OF THE DAY WILL BE PUT AWAY BEFORE I GO TO BED
Wanna Bee Free - didn’t quite manage to finish as I went out to P.O. & MrA- so Thursday is clean the last 2 windows & mop kitchen & cloakroom floors.
marmiterules, the only instruction DH received was to make sure to sleep on his side not his back. I turned him into a pirate again yesterday :rotfl: which has stopped him straining his eye but the eye has got worse & now we are both worrying. DH is phoning the hospital later this morning to chase up re his op. He is also feeling guilty that he can’t do any of the projects I have given him - silly sausage that he isBy the way, well done on the decluttering - 2 bookcases
you must have masses of space :rotfl:
Happy Kitties, thanks for your good wishes re DH. He has had the op explained to him & is not looking forward to it but now he just wants it done asap, so he can see.
I fell off my chair at the description of the wasp funerals :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Well done on your decluttering so far :T - All your hard work is paying off :T & I imagine that having a specific purpose in mind is a great help in keeping the room tidy. It must have given you a warm glow when your friend noticed all your hard work. I know we are all decluttering to make our lives simpler & less stressful but it is nice when other people notice & comment
I would like to thank you Happy Kitties :T:T because your success is spurring me on :T
Wednesday was a gloriously dry, bright & sunny day and WARM.
DSis had a Doctor’s appointment where she learnt she has yet another health issue - liver cysts - so more hospital visits in her futureShe then went shopping for her DS as she is planning a visit in the not too distant future. This evening our DB Face Timed her (I am a Luddite - no mobile phone :rotfl: ) from Scotland & they had a long chat.
DH has continued working on decluttering his office - coming along slowly but surely
I have had a busy day - P.O., then sm (only 34 bits of litter picked up & binned), home & put everything away + have started the next bag for The Whitechapel Mission as MrA had reduced prices on men’s undies :T
Had a cup of tea, then started on the housework. Vacuumed the stairs, moved the sofas & vacuumed living room then vacuumed the dining room, cloakroom, hallway & kitchen. Also vacuumed the sofas & swapped over the cushions to get even wear. (Only had to empty the vacuum twice :rotfl:) Dusted the living room & wiped down the skirting, washed down the living room window frame & sill & cleaned the windows. Plus polished three wooden tables. During my frequent rests :rotfl: I made a large pan of soup using lots of bits from the freezer - small jar of lo hm chicken gravy, 2 boxes of salad bits, the last of the frozen mushrooms, handful of frozen leeks, bag of lo mash, a few chillies, half a box of chopped green peppers & some Stilton + I added some lo mash & baked beans from the fridge. One chicken stock cube & water. Cooked on a low heat for about 90 minutes, seasoned generously with salt & pepper - then blitzed. Tomorrow’s lunch with hm croutons :T Yummy & I have a bit of space in the freezer. Don’t know what DH & DSis are having :rotfl:
DH & I had chilli with rice (one portion left for freezer) & I cooked chicken, mushrooms, new potatoes & green beans for DSis & enough left for her to have same again Thursday.
Re my three mantras: aired & made bed; washed up; worktops washed down; filled sugar bowl; general tidying & reorganising

Morning everyone,
Mrs SD I felt tired just reading about your housework and tidying yesterday - well done! Fingers crossed for an early hospital date for your DH.
The Wasp funerals made me chuckle this morning - thanks!
Yesterday’s haul:
62 - 63 2 pairs of holey pants - too religious! (textile recycling)
64 Elastic bands - (released into the wild at work with others of their kind)
65 Black clothes Dye (uu)
66 old prescription that was never used - I can’t remember why now but definitely no longer needed (shredder)
And this morning:
67 Stained white ramekin you get free with a pie (bin)
67/630 - have a good day everyone!0 -
Wanna Bee Free - Oh gawd I had a load of horse books. I still have my 'osses but they're retired, so I just enjoy their company as I don't really miss the riding. As such there's not much need for the horse books and I was a right book hoarder when I was in full horse mode a few years ago. The lowest value went to charity shops, next highest went to Music Magpie and the ones I think I can get over £5 to the secondhand shop.
Managed to declutter some weights and get £15 for them by sticking an ad on FB. The guy came and collected them yesterday so I'm pleased. I go to the gym so there is now no need for my dumbbells to be taking up space.
251-253. 2 x dumbbells, 1 x barbell and associated plates (sold woohoo!)
Had a quick rummage through the kitchen cupboards just now and found the following:
254-276. Various tupperware items in recycling, plus a few mismatched utensils that aren't worthy of a CS.
277-280. Various items of Pyrex / baking trays etc. on the CS pile
And now I have rearranged the cupboard so I can get everything in there comfortably. I used to irritate me incessently when I couldn't get saucepans etc. back in the cupboards!0 -
68 pack of 4 tennis balls (CS)
69 Notepad block (CS)
That’s 69/630 so far. Happy decluttering everyone!0 -
Crumbs. i have aload of catching up to do. Will read back over the weekend.
House is a tip at the moment as the buiolders have ripped out the old kitchen and now all i have is a sink. Learning to cook wiothout the hob and oven but hope to get a temporary kitchen up over the weekend once they have grouted the tiles.
3 more bags and some bigger bits to the CS plus all the stuff everyione gave me has now gone. It is getting easier to thow stuff. i haven't got the headspace to argue for keeping stuff right now.
Well done on all the decluttering you have all done. Mrs SD, sounds like you have been though the mill a bit lately Hugs to you and DH. XWife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Mrs Salad Dodger Sadly those pockets of space I am making already have things waiting to fill the gaps back in  Good on you for tidying instead of heating! I hope your DH eye is getting better, as marmiterulesok said I know my uncle was advised to lie looking down as much as possible after his numerous eye ops. (in fact he had a whole week of not being able to look up )
51 - Glue gun - bin - can't get the right glue any more >.< fed up of burns trying to bodge it
52 -I wouldn't usually count these as they are work, but I've had them soo long.... I finally sold one of my handbound sketch books :j
53 - paint water bottles - ditching plastic - Recycled
54 - shoes - bin
55 - car emergency kit - back in the car :rotfl:
56 - plasters squidged into 1 box - spare box binned
57 - box for glass pot - recycled
58 - empty chocolate box - recycled
59 - spare packaging boxes flat packed
60 - bath oil - bin
I've decided I have a box addiction :embarasse I also have the really bad habbit of having boxes of "stuff" I definitely got that from my mum, it drives me mad when she does it, yet I do it too! Things that don't have a home can just go in that box, but then the idea of sorting that box fills me with dread. My goal for this weekend is to sort out at least 1 of those boxes! And maybe my paper drawers, I need to start making baubles but I don't actually know where the paper I need is...
I'm going to Ikea tomorrow, I'm going try and not buy a box!! haha, and only to buy things which are for the business.... :silenced: we'll see how well that goes....anything's possible if you've got enough nerve
:happyhear
