2018 - No Clutter To Be Seen
Options
Comments
-
1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)
3. THE LAST WASHING UP OF THE DAY WILL BE PUT AWAY BEFORE I GO TO BED
Yah, boo, sucks - my motivation to do anything ran away again:( on Thursday
Woke up at 5:30 due to a call of nature & decided it was way too early to get up - so went back to bed:o actually woke up 5 hours later with a headache & feeling like I had been run over by a steam rollerDid my ablutions, brushed teeth then decided to gargle - big mistake
nearly drowned myself as the liquid went down my windpipe & I panicked  After what seemed like a lifetime I finally managed to gasp in enough air to wheeze out a cry to my DH - he gave me a couple of sharp slaps on the back & calmed me down:T Managed to drink a beechams rather than breath it :rotfl: So yet another excuse not to do anything much - although I did go shopping late afternoon
Friday was such a gloriously hot & sunny day that I took the opportunity to sit in the sun, with cups of tea & a magazineWhen I ventured indoors it was to knit a new baby blanket :rotfl:
I have ‘finally’ decided that I will not feel too guilty if I don’t declutter - but I will keep up with my mantras & if the spirit moves me I will dive into a task :rotfl: I know everything will get done ‘eventually’
DH’s eyesight is improving daily but slowly. He is continuing his office decluttering/tidying & spends an hour or so in the garage working on the garden tub :T
DSis had yet another appointment with the doctorbut this time took a notebook & made notes :T - she has a memory like a sieve and or a selective memory :rotfl: Has to go back for yet another blood test & also has a couple more hospital appointments:( To cap it all off she now has the beginnings of a cold
Re my three mantras over the last 2 days: aired & made bed; washed up; worktops washed down; filled sugar bowl, sugar, coffee & tea bags jars; watered plants; cooked; general tidying

Marmiterules : every little bit counts. Its all carp and out of your life forever, yay.
Mrs SD: Just read back a week. You have still managed to keep it together despite DH eye. Maybe you just needed a rest when you mojo went on strike. Take it easy, you don't sound 100% at the moment.
Myself. I have been busy and took another 5 bags to the CS increasing my total to 50/52.
Another bag of clothes and another one of books are being filled. I am still being given stuff for the CS but I am just checking though it and 99% has gone back out. Trying not to buy anything at the CS but did get a gorgeous handbag. In turn I threw an old faveourite handbag out with the strap totally trashed.
The house us a mess right now with the builders at a pause waiting for a reliable electrician (they are like hen's teeth round here).
Today it's raining so catching up on paperwork, doing some cleaning, wrapping boxes for Christmas Child and going to attempt to sort out DS2's room as it is stacked up with his clothes and my craft stuff.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Today I've jettisoned 6 bottles of toiletries and a nail brush (open for ages) and been to the dump twice with:
a lamp
two pans with their lids and a metal sieve
a broken flask
a sleeve ironing board (never used)
a large plant holder and base.
All quite bulky so I'm pleased to see them away.
I've also cleaned the kitchen and bathroom floors (tiled) and am going to do some paperwork later on.
Happy decluttering everyone.
PS I might do some paper shredding too.0 -

Hello, everyone, have had a week or so off, as had visiting dog and other extras eating into my computer time, also no decluttering done, will catch-up on everyone's progress tonight.
For me, limited progress is that my pine bookshelf is possibly wanted by my friend with the broken shoulder, as it might go better in her room than the MDF laminate one she currently has, which doesn't fit in with her other (pine) items. I'm taking in just a loose shelf first, so we can see whether she likes the finish, and also because I couldn't remember the exact size of mine. This will then mean taking her current one to the charity shop, so a good result if it works. If not, I'm back to my original plan of mine going to a charity shop. This, with the trolley having gone, means I did hit my target of two items of furniture out during September, just a bit of a delay because of trying to find it an ideal home.
Haven't set a target yet for October, but will contemplate today when I'm out. My tiny wins this week were several old remote controls and unknown-source cables went to the small appliances recycling bin in a local car park. I'm certain there is more of that stuff lurking, e.g. card-reader from a bank with a dead battery. They don't replace the batteries, and just sent a new one.
One tiny item of sentimental clutter is a watch I lent my mother in hospital, when the ward wall clock stopped (sadly, it needed the husband of another patient to renew the battery, after several days of waiting.)
The watch stopped at the exact moment my mother died, and I have had it put away in a drawer ever since. She never actually wore it, but looked at it frequently on her locker, as she liked to know the time. I am now going to see whether I can have a new battery for it, and if not, will think about what to do with it, but otherwise will start using it again myself.
Tonight as an easy little task I'll also go through my huge stash of knitting needles, and remove all duplicates to donate to my craft group, or a charity shop if any are left over. As I prefer crochet, and only knit occasionally, I don't need the enormous number I have (came to me from mother, two aunts, and grandmother) There will still be a lot, but will rethink at a later stage if they are sitting unused for too long.
See you all this evening. Happy Sunday.0 -

bit by bit, thanks for your kind wishes. My cold is only mild - a sniffly nose & a slight feeling of not being 100%so not really feeling like starting a decluttering project. (A couple more B*echams & I will be as right as rain
)
:T Well done on keeping stuff moving out of your home. You have been very busy :T I also like that you are a ‘one in, one out’ person - saves clutter building up in the first place :rotfl: Saturday was very wet here as well - so settled in on the sofa - heating on, knitting & watching a load of recorded episodes of Bli*ndspot - now fully caught up & ready for the next season
Marmiterules, you have also been very busy :T It is always great to get rid of bulky stuff :T Not to mention cleaning, paperwork & shredding :T
Wanna Bee Free, ticking along very nicely :T
villagelife, :T a steady stream of items leaving the your home :T
Molillie, nothing that goes out is ‘a tiny win’ Everything out is a ‘big win’ :T because it has been shown the door :rotfl: Knitting needles - do you have odd ones? because they can be used in the garden as plant canes
I inherited a large supply of knitting needles from my dearly departed DM - even though I haven’t used them yet, it is ‘sentimental clutter’ so I will not make any decisions
that I might regret
. I know I have the memories of my DM knitting like a demon
but even though she has been gone over 10 years, I still like to have tangible items
DH has had a weekend off from the garden tub projectbut is still slowly decluttering his office.
DSis did the cooking on Saturday (after a trip in the car to sm for ingredients) - shepherds pie - with enough for Sunday.
Sunday has been a gloriously sunny day with clear blue skies - occasionally warm but overall very chilly. I had a stroll to the sm past the dock & did my usual litter picking after feeding the birds - crested grebes, mallards, coots, Canada Geese, the single white swan accompanied by a juvenile swan & of course the obligatory seagulls & pigeons. Now drumroll please ....................
I was all set to clear the litter hotspot at the base of the concrete steps leading from the dock up to the main road BUT as the steps came into view my world brightened considerably - not a leaf nor a bit of litter in sight :T The whole lot had been cleared - I cannot tell you how happy I was :rotfl: - I even took a photo :rotfl: So as I was all set to pick up litter, I picked another spot - the grass bank at the side of the main road. Plastic glove on, plastic bags at the ready - 201 items of litter binnedincluding glass & plastic bottles, tin cans, bits of plastic & paper, sandwich boxes & even found 2 pub glasses - which I stood up at the bus stop
If they are still there tomorrow, I will walk them down to the pub :rotfl:
Apart from the sm visit, I have just sorted some paperwork & done some knitting
Re my three mantras over the last 2 days: aired & made bed; washed up; worktops washed down; filled sugar bowl; watered plants; general tidying
Numbers as follows:
C1224 - C1233 Non recyclable - 6 plastic bags, 2 lots of plastic packaging, plastic tray & packaging, uu kitchen sponge scourer - binned
C1234 - C1240 Leaflets, 4 lots of cardboard packaging, toilet roll tube, paper bag - recycled
C1241 - C1247 Three Milk cartons, 2 tin cans, 2 glass jars & metal lids - rinsed & recycled
May the decluttering mojo be with us all :rotfl:
