Yes, I'd hope he won't charge you for sorting out the tap, he installed it after all!
Alternatively, there's a B&Q or Homebase by Homesense (don't remember which), so you could pick up screws and washers there. They do packs with different sized washers if you don't know which size to get. Always handy to have.
I've never heard that about the bedding. I'd just get single size, as double would swamp the beds, and you'd have a load to tuck underneath, which could make the mattress lumpy and uncomfortable.
Have a good weekend with your sisters though.0 -
I have heard about the bedding. I don't think I would get a double duvet for a single though. I got a king size for my double bed. I think if your sisters only stay over now and again two singles would be perfect - or even two single sleeping bags.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

So, the sun is shining .The temperatures rising . Just did some more food shopping in Poole , in preparation for the sisters visit .
I get home , saw an envelope addressed to myself .
"This is not a circular " More rectangular . Is it for my appointment for the wisdom tooth? No it is not ! It's a letter summonsing me to an assessment from universal credit
It's for 10.15 am on tues 3rd sept . At Poole assessment centre.
Still, it is expected . I'm just going with the flow to see where I end up
Busy morning today , finishing off the tidying in preparation for my sisters visit . Been to Poole for more shopping for extra bits and bobs. They should be here around lunchtime .
Have a good weekend ..0 -
You too AC, and good luck with the assessment.0

Thought I'd give another update .
Hope everyone had a great weekend .
Well, my sisters have been and gone . Everything was great , and a shame as it wasn't longer . One is a relief teacher. One works in M&S
This means that bank holiday weekends work out best for them
Then one has to look after her grandchildren which is not rare :rotfl:
They liked the new furniture , but only one chair was used .
One of my sisters used the sofa. Which brings me to the decisions that have been on my mind regarding the whole flat situation .
It seems that the only thing that I need now for the flat , is one settee
( the 3 seater has had its day . ) The 2 seater is leather , but is in very good condition for a 20+ year sofa.
The consensus is that I can just replace that ,and that's it . It doesn't have to be leather either ,as I already have the leather 2 seater.
This is good news , cost wise . Where I'm going to get it is another matter . Possibly Ikea . I just want something that handles my weight
Something that lasts ,and looks good . Shouldn't be too difficult
Maybe I could get online ..
This time around , we spent all sat afternoon in local pub by station having pub food and ( too many drinks ) outside in the blazing sunshine
On Sunday , we went for a meal up the road in a similar fashion in another location
On Monday , we chose the right time to go to Poole quay . Surprisingly not as mad as the previous 2 years . Having fish and chips by the sea is great .
I ate and drunk way too much , and know now that I have to calm down on that . Which brings me to mr.Trainer...
Saw him today . Everything very positive . However, he is moving his practice to Bournemouth . This isn't too much of a problem as it is a 20 min bus ride each way . Less of a walk than what I'm doing from my home to branksome , but a further journey .
It may be time to pack up DW fitness in branksome and change things around . One reason is cost , and other reason is that I don't use it enough to warrant the monthly fee and I have to cut down on things anyway . The other reason is I can actually go for longer walks on a daily basis which should keep the weight off . Lots to consider.
I'll be seeing mr trainer for my next session next weds ,and he should advise me then . Which brings me to a very important week ....
On tues as mentioned previously I have my first ever assessment with universal credit in unfamiliar territory both in location and my life in general .
On weds , I see mr trainer .
On fri, I see my coach at the job centre . They want another fit not provided . I will phone tomorrow to hopefully see Mrs, Doctor who will hopefully give me another ( un) fit note for another 6 months as I'm in no way ready for employment . Difficult times , but by the end of my journey I hope to land on my feet and not my backside . We'll see
I very rarely use Facebook , but was looking to add mr trainer as a friend , due to pics etc. Plus my sister recommended someone . Long story . Anyway , I found some upsetting news regarding a friend .
Trying to be brief here , this chap was someone who I know on and off from around the age of 15 .A friend through a mad friend we both used to know . Anyway ,we had music in common but even then there were bands that we were thinking ' how the hell can you listen to that?' . Moving on from that , he has been a train driver on London Underground for many years . Not great when he decides to phone at unusual hours :rotfl:
Anyway , it looks like he has bowel cancer:( . I left a message on his answerphone on his mobile a few hrs ago.
I left a comment on Facebook . With Facebook changing things every few mins , trying to put the pieces together is a major p I t a .
I'll go back and have a look. One thing about Facebook though..I didn't give them my later email addresses and I can still log into my page . Saves getting lots of unwanted crap.
Looking at the pics of my friend , he looks likes he has been attacked by wildcats . Colonoscopy was mentioned . I had my first examination last year and thankfully all was well . Best get checked by nhs when prompted .
I'll leave it there ..
can't believe it's Thursday tomorrow0 -
AC sounds like you had a lovely catch up with your sisters. I am sorry to hear the news about your friend. It always gives you a bit of a jar when you hear something like this about someone you know/knew. Reminds us that life is short and we should get on and do what we want to do - which you have done.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

So nice reading you had such a nice BH with your sisters. You are right fish and chips by the sea is great
Sorry about your friend. It is good you took the time out to de-stress and look after yourself . Unfortunately in middle age these things catch up with us unless we take care of ourselves (and even then they can happen if we draw the shirt straw)
Even if you stop the PT sessions he has got you to a place where you can take long walks and you couldn't do that before.
As you say time is going quickly.
Enjoy the rest of the weekIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Glad to hear you had a good weekend with your sisters. Best place to eat fish and chips is by the sea, the salt in the air improves the flavour.
Sorry about your friend, hope he pulls through, cancer's !!!!!.
Best to try out sofas before buying. We ordered a Laura Ashley sofabed once, it cost £700 half price, and was rubbish. The cushions went out of shape and drooped in the middle after a year or so, and it wasn't particularly comfortable to start with. A little while later, we bought an Ikea Karlanda sofa, with the attached footstool, in the bargain corner (it was ex-display), for £350 (think the original price was £475) and it's still going strong, after about 13 years. I've just got new covers for it, from Bemz, who do covers for current, and discontinued Ikea furniture (like ours). We have found that some Ikea sofas are quite hard, and not as comfortable as our one (even though we don't need a new sofa, I still like to try them out!) that's why I recommend trying them out. You can buy it in store, and get them to deliver. I definitely recommend them.0 -
AC, thanks for the update, some really bittersweet goings on there.
You're right to ditch the gym costs if you don't use it much and can now exercise for "free" although you'll be replacing shoes/trainers more often so not totally free.
Facebook can be a double edged sword, but one of it's real uses is finding and keeping in touch with family and old friends, just don't accept friend requests from all the "interesting" characters there are out there!
Good luck with the assessment, onwards and upwards my friend...0 -
Good morning
Thanks for all of your kind words and advice . Another update.
Just phoned for appt with Mrs doctor for fit note. That will be on Thurs 12 sept 9.20 am . This has made me wonder if I should try to change next Fridays appointment with the job coach until after I receive the fit note ,as it seems that is what that appointment is about .
I could just go next Friday anyway and advise them that I will be seeing mrs doctor the following week . We'll see.
I sent email to mr trainer asking him what the deal was. When he was going to his new domain etc . It turns out , my session next weds is my first at his new gym. Not sure what to expect . This will obviously be a different gym in terms of atmosphere and facilities . It may not suit . I'm gonna give it a try . I may still be able to afford it , as I'm currently paying 2 memberships ! It seems probably logical to ditch the normal DW fitness gym and just see him once a week .
In place of DW , I would grow some more backbone and walk everyday.
Regarding my footwear , I did the right thing over the first two years when I moved here . I bought a couple of pairs of trainers /casual footwear from Clark's in the sales. As they were half price in the sales
I bought 2 pairs at the time . This means I have quite a few brand new pairs of footwear under the bed
I looked at Facebook this morning , and found that my friend liked my message . Probably way too ill to reply , but at least he saw my message . I will leave Facebook alone , but will check on his status once a week hoping things get better . After that I'm avoiding it for another couple of years ..
Got a message from James . He supposedly got the wrong part sent , and is apparently still in Birmingham till next weds. He asked if evenings or weekends were preferable . I just replied "anytime".
Usual builder speak , but eventually I may have to use someone else
With builders though , if you have a good one and you've had a good relationship then I think it's best to be laid back and put up with a few stories . Having said all of that , if I get more excuses next week I'll have to find someone else .
I have to tidy up today hopefully . ( I'm feeling crappy and tired right now). This is tidying up bedsheets etc and relocating the" to do "crate
Eventually I will have that emptied .
Have a good sunny day ...0
