  • Hello gigervamp and DIA :)
Thanks for the kind words and advice , helpful as always :)
I do like cashews . Interested tho how you dry roast them DIA .
Chick peas? Must admit , I have never tried them as I thought they may be spicy .:o
One thing I know now though is that in a bizarre way , I'm giving myself that six month gap to shape up ( literally ).
One other thing that has just dawned on me , is that having this additional time off to sort myself out will mean I can avoid the potentially bad weather and being forced into job interviews etc in the winter months . I won't mention Christmas ..:o

Chick peas are only spicy if spices have been added. You can drain and rinse a tin of them, spread them out on a baking tray, spray or drizzle some olive oil on them, and sprinkle on some salt, and any herbs and/or spices you fancy. Then bung in the oven until they're crunchy. (I think I'd check them after 15-20 minutes.)

Popcorn is supposed to be a low calorie snack (as long as it's not covered in toffee like Butterkist!).

Just do it in a frying pan, keep moving the nuts until they lightly brown (don't add oil) sprinkle with salt. Enjoy!

  • Thanks for the tip with the cashews DIA :)
It's something I will be doing . I have just bought some bovril and may try that as well . I still have some chocolate spread in the cupboard but may try that also .

Now for some more reality revelations and dear I say , resolutions ..

I have been eating loads of chocolate most of my life . Spending a fortune in the process
Up to the weekend , we are talking 3-4 bars a day .
Anyway , this weekend I've actually managed to go to half a bar of green and blacks . For me, that's something I never thought possible
I aim to keep that up .
I went to Waitrose this morning and for once , I didn't go near the chocolate section. This is equally impressive as going to Marks and Sparks and avoiding their crisp section which I did on Thursday coming back from the job centre .
I am still on bread , but imho the way I'm tackling the other 2 issues, surely I can get away with it . I hope :o
I have been having scrambled egg on toast for a few days with bacon
Back to rolled oats and honey for breakfast , and not much else.
I have been going mad on ice cream for months also . Reduced that also. Surely I should see some progress in the not too distant future
I was making good progress but know that change is now .

Speaking of the health side of things , mr trainer cancelled today's session and that's been put back to weds . He's getting more equipment for his new gym . I could've went today to dw but thought it best to leave that till Friday . I went for a very long ( for me) walk on sat . Nothing yesterday . I will go on another tomorrow all going well. Mr trainer assures me that everyone have dips from time to time and he is convinced that I'll snap out of it . He is amazed that someone with my condition is still training . I was slack at home and did no homework for a few weeks . Something I'm shocked and annoyed about . Well I was , but I started that again last Friday.
10-15 mins at home daily helps a lot .

    Happy Monday ..
  • Half a bar of G&B all weekend is fine AC. A great reduction from where you were.

Personally I thing eggs and bacon is a good breakfast and fine to have especially if the bacon is grilled...

Glad it isn't just me with the housework battles. Little and often is the way but I let it slide sometimes I'm afraid.

Have a good day AC :)

  • Well, a strange week and a mixed bag ..
Saw mr trainer on weds. He was shocked about the ecg I will be having .He thinks my fitness is not in question and that I train harder than a lot of " normal" people who attend the gym etc
So far so good . We discussed the other gym that I have been going to (DW)and today I'm cancelling that membership . Not sure if I give a months notice but I'll find out today when I attend for one of my last sessions there .

Speaking of the ecg ..and my pulse . I haven't been feeling the greatest over the last couple of days . I'm looking at causes and process of elimination. I thought that maybe I've been eating too many scrambled eggs lately , or is it the Berocca that take daily .
I have stopped both since weds. In my fitter days I used to take Berocca daily and would swear by it . Now that I think that it may clash with my medication I just swear . It may not be the Berocca at all. Today , the issues I have seem easier . I'll continue to monitor .

Regarding the tap issue and extractor fan , I'm hoping to find a handyman next week to be the new James . I saw a couple of recommendations on the " next door " website which I joined recently

    Happy Friday ..
  • Good luck with the new James.

Try not to worry about the ECG. They will get to the bottom of it. It may not be scrambled eggs or Berocca. It is good news that it has been found and can be checked out.

    Have a good day :)

  • Thanks DIA:)
I had one when I was going through all the examinations when first diagnosed with myasthenia gravis . I'm just going through the motions again . Hopefully my symptoms will settle down . Could be a lot worse ..

if you can cope with the no carbs, then ketogenic is magical almost.

it transitions your body from using glucose - aka sugar for fuel and burns stored / ingested fat

getting my head around being able to eat cheese, and as much bacon as you like (within limits for your weight / size) was hard, but as i say it burns the fat.. so no carbs (aka sugars)..

i also loved chocs... but then its sugar, so high percentage dark choc was my go to treat, and even then where it would taste bitter before so much so i'd gag, it tasted VERY sweet.. as i say the keto things do strange things, it weaned my off sugar and carbs and my sweet tooth is gone. replace with cheeses, and "fatty" snacks (like i say this is a high FAT low carb middle protein diet, fat is not the bad thing its made out to be. . . good fat is good).

and appetite goes totally downhill, not because i starve myself, but the hunger just isnt there (we hunger for easy carbs / sugars).. i could have one evening meal a day and thats fine.

mention it to trainor and doc, see what they say, it has been noted to reverse T2 diabetes and other illnesses due to the changes it does to our "fuel" systems. - all the above is my experience but theres plenty info out there..
