Hi folks! Congtarts on the birth of your grandson LL. wahoo is a nice and unusual name also :rotfl:
Acupuncture for me was the only thing that kept me going ,before the move . Relaxation is everything . Good luck with the house.

The heat is going on too long for me now . It has meant I've put the job search off for a while . Just no point . Having the fan on at night and lying on top of the bed is not good for my back the next day .
I do exercises in the morning when I wake up but trying to look composed if potentially meeting recruitment agencies would be nigh on impossible in this heat.

I have an appointment booked with Mrs.Doctor on weds morning ,to discuss the possible reduction of the 2 steroids I'm on . The more I reduce , the more chance I have of losing this excess bulk . I am convinced of that . I have another session with mr. Trainer tomorrow morning as usual. I must admit I'm proud to still be seeing him in this heat . He varies my program a lot and I hope tomorrow will be another less intensive session.

The dearer flat opposite is sold . The one above is interesting . I exchanged pleasantries wiy the lady upstairs and she never mentioned herself possibly moving. Not really my business . The estate agents haven't put the for sale sign outside my window just yet. It was listed 9 days ago. Maybe they are trying to sell for someone who will leave her there in situ. Seems strange that there's no sign up yet, considering the interest in my flat on which a sale was agreed in 4 days .

Will be watching the World Cup final later. I think the difference of this England team is that they had a clique of prima donnas and unsavoury characters that were running the team and could not be managed.Age has caught up with them thankfully and Gareth Southgate has been there in terms of playing experience and is in no way a prima donna . The tournament has been better than expected tbh. The last one was good also . 2010 was abysmal . Remember the vuvuzelas ?:rotfl:

Delurking.... curious to know why would the hot weather stop you from job hunting? If you can make it to the gym (and well done on youre impressive results) I dont understand why it would impact on you looking for work. Back to lurking now :)

    Thanks . :)
TBH , we are in a heatwave which has been dragging on a bit .
This type of weather drains me . I am the size of a ( polar ) bear and prefer it a little cooler. Everyone is different . Life isn't black and white.
Anyway , feel free to delurk at any time :)

Well , I have just been to Mrs.Doctor and also gave the specialists secretary a call in st Thomas's hsp in London .
I won't hear anything from the secretary until next week . Fair enough, no problem . Regarding the azathioprine , my doctor cannot alter the dose . Only the specialist can do that . Okay.
As for the prednisolone , I have been given a fair supply of 1 mg tablets . I am currently on 2.5 mg . The idea is to keep reducing by 0.5 mg a month . I'll try this out in a couple of weeks . I have packed my tablets in advance .
In the meantime , I'll just keep chipping away and hope for the best.
I have to remain optimistic ,and remember how much of an improvement has happened within 3-4 years .
I can still remember the really early stages which were frightening.

Mr .Trainer is still happy with my prformance . I'll be doing one or two more bits during the week and will be back at the gym on Friday .

I received a letter from edf energy , who request another reading .
If I don't , they'll tamper with my direct debit and I don't want to be owing them at the end of their year . It worked out last time ,when I kept payments higher. I find that electric is always dearer than gas .
I've been using the fan a lot lately so I expect dearer payments .

I had an annual statement from Wessex water . Being on a meter for the first time , I wasn't sure of my usage etc
When I was in London with Thames water I never had a meter, but my payments were creeping up to £42 per month.
Here in my new situation I thought it best to pay £40 per month and see what gives. On my statement , I have been given £319.38 refund
They want to start the August payment of £40 , and £19 per month until further notice . I will ask them if it's possible to continue paying £40 so I don't end up owing them .
I am , and have been cutting down on spending for some time now .
It was nice to get that refund though. I believe I'm still owed some Money from Hmrc from the plevin payment . Over £100 iirc.

Regarding the flat, my friend has offered to dismantle the wardrobe and reassemble in the bedroom . Hopefully that'll work out . If it does , my moaning about storage is over.
I'm due another visit from my sisters in August bank holiday . That's a good sign that they like the place . My crazy brother is threatening to come in August also . Not sure how that's gonna pan out .
He doesn't buy anything online ,and treats good advice as a conspiracy . I'm gonna try and explain to him how to buy cheaper tkts when he visits me . Hard work :o

I have some more decluttering to do today . Nearly there..

Usually if it's one person then having a water meter works out cheaper. So £19 should be about right. You should be ok.

I will definitely be looking at getting one in my next place.

Had the damp and timber report back. Better than I'd feared. Just awaiting the roof report and then I'll take it from there, but as the damp, guy inspected the roof timbers and trusses and gave them the all clear I am not too concerned now. The roof tiles themselves are still okay, not crumbling so I think it's just a case of a bit of an overhaul and not a full replacement.

So maybe not a money pit after all.

Acupuncture is going really well. Had 5 treatments, 11 to go and I feel so much better already. Definitely one of my better decisions.

Still very hot here so going to sit out in the garden for an hour or so. It's just a nice temperature now and a lovely quiet spot for a summers evening.

    Good luck reducing the meds.

Woke up about 3am this morning with a pounding headache . This humid weather and myself do not get along . I managed to get myself down to the gym anyway and am glad I did . The sky was fairly dark this morning . The sky is getting like that once more . Surely the long awaited thunderstorm should be upon us very soon ,albeit brief.

I will give edf a meter reading of gas &elrctric on Monday . I will give Wessex water a call then also. One or two jobs in the flat that have been put off may be done ..if I have the energy to do so :o

One strange thing happened over the last couple of days regarding washing my clothes . When washing my bedsheets I noticed a rather unpleasant smell . I checked the filter on the washing machine . That was ok and not much water cane out . I gave a few clothes another wash and it all seemed better..except one bedsheet and one towel.
I will give them another wash . Bizarre .

Apparently there will be a few strikes spread over the summer on south western railway . This may effect the visits from my sister and mad brother . It could all change .

What temperature did you wash the sheets and towel? The smell could be bacteria, so use a biological powder/liquid and put them on a hot wash, 60 degrees should be ok.

You should've moved to Wales, we've had rain this week, and it's been overcast for most of it too. I miss the sun!

AC. Stinky washing/washing machine. Caused by a build up of bacteria, usually from always using the cooler wash programmes. Fabric conditioner can also cause problems.

Do a vinegar wash, place a small plastic beaker full of white vinegar into the drum, hottest wash, usually 90, empty machine, no clothes. Should do the trick.

Then, if you can, try and leave the door slightly ajar when the machine is not in use.

Well , I’ve been to Wales a few times . Went to Blackwood by the Rhonda valleys for my brothers engagement party and then wedding.
I was in the mumbles mile in the early 90’s. Not really me tbh
I haven’t been to Scotland though . It seems colder and wetter than the rest of the UK most of the time while watching the forecasts.

I could do Iceland if I could speak the language and eat the food :)

I like the sunshine on a crisp winters day instead of this muggyness.

    Thanks LL/ gigervamp :)
I tend to wash most of the stuff at 40 degrees . Looking at the instructions on the various labels that seems right . I have a few polo neck t shirts that are 30 degrees due to the strange material they are made from . The quilt covers are 40 . Everything is ok to dry in the washer dryer except the t shirts . I’m very cautious / wary incase anything shrinks . I’ll look into it later :)
