  • Just a quick update about my energy bills from edf.
They have decided to change my direct debit for gas from £45 to £12
I am not happy about this , and went onto their app and pressed a button to change it back to £45. This means I should hopefully get a rebate next year if I overpay like I did last time . I wish these companies wouldn't meddle . I refuse to be trapped by these companies . I do use ( and have been using ) a lot of electricity . They have been taking £67 , but now it will be £76 p m . I have had the dyson on religiously etc. At the end of the day ,even if I combine both bills I shlould be on top of things next year and not owing .

Only 22 degrees here, and mostly overcast again. It was lovely and sunny when I got up this morning, but by about 10.30, the clouds were back. :(

Your electric is high. We use a lot too, and there are 2 of us in a house. My husband is a retro games collector, and has a room with all his old computers, consoles, TVs and monitors in, which he uses most nights as he does filming for his YouTube channel, and he has lots of coloured lights in there too. We've also had a couple of fans going 24/7 upstairs, and cook on electric, but our bill is about £40 a month, and we haven't been in debit yet.

You must be very patient with your brother. I'd have been tempted to "run out of battery power" after an hour! Hopefully his threat to come and visit you won't come to fruition!
  • Just received an email from the managing agents . They say that they " have been in contact with the window cleaners and their next visit is due this month ,and that they will be attending today or Monday ."
This will be interesting to see if it is the cowboy I suspect ,or if I have got the wrong end of the stick. I haven't replied as yet , as I want to ask what time of the year do they send these out etc.

    Where is the rain ?

Hi everyone .....still no rain here. We've not had any at all for gawd knows how long.......reservoirs are low, next county has had some bad fires.

Athough my house is quite cool (Victorian terrace, high ceilings etc) I finally succumbed and bought a fan......:rotfl: it arrived yesterday and I must say I was pleased to have it. It was like a furnace outside and today is about the same.

BTW. There will be a blood moon lunar eclipse tonight, well worth a look. I bet it would look pretty spectacular over the sea......

No legal completion date yet.....just the solicitors doing their thing, although as mine is on two weeks holiday I'm not holding my breath. :rotfl:

Hey ho as long as I can get it all wrapped up some time in September early October that will be fine.

It's been drizzling here again today, and really gloomy. Apparently it's going to be like this over the weekend too. No chance of seeing the blood moon here, with all the cloud.
Our lovely cleaner bought some solar fairy lights for me, and she put them in the fuchsia outside the living room window on Wednesday. They lit up for about an hour that night, and not at all last night, as there'd been no sun. Did see the bright moon though! The weather is the only thing I don't like about living in Wales, even when it's not wet, clear blue skies are usually few and far between.

Fingers crossed your move goes through smoothly.
  • My friend in Southampton sent a txt telling me he has rain . I have not . Just humidity . Sounds like the house purchase is going well LL

Holiday to North Pole may have to be taken .
  • So , I’ve just had a very heated conversation with EDF.
My mobile rings .. I pick up “ it’s EDF we are changing your meters , what day would you be available “ etc ..
I asked if it was a smart meter . “Yes”. I told the woman in no uncertain terms that I don’t want one and that I haven’t signed anything to say I want one . I told her the reputation of these things is not good . She was shocked . I told her that the company shouldn’t be hoodwinking me into something I never requested. In the end I told her that she needed more training and that Edf have no right to treat their customers in this way. She never had a clue what to do with me .If it were mandatory then fair enough . It isn’t and I don’t want smart meters . Beside that , the 3 other neighbours haven’t got them either . I do understand that in the end we will all probably have them , but the problems need to be sorted out first . I have been with Edf for many years but not sure about next year.

Anyway , back to Friday night/ sat morning . I’m lying in bed uncomfortable because of the heat . I hear some loud crackling and think that my dyson is about to catch fire . I quickly unplugged it . I was wrong .. it was a thunderstorm . :rotfl:
Sat and yesterday were great weather wise because of the wind and rain which I’ve been praying for .

Saw Mr trainer for another session . He thinks I’m losing weight again.
Eating ice cream and ice lollies .. how could this be ? Not having bread for the last 2 weeks or so may have something to do with it .

It was raining briefly . There was some water on the windows . Was that because of the rain ? Has the window cleaner been ?
I’ll have to send another email to the managing agents . Lord Lucan has been seen apparently , but the window cleaner hasn’t .

Changing your supplier won't make any difference, they're all trying to get everyone on smart meters because the government have told them to. We've been getting several calls a week from Scottish Power about it (I recognise the number, so just let it go through to the answerphone).

We've had tons of rain here, and yesterday it was really windy too.
  • Yes it’s true giigervamp. I’m on a fixed tariff anyway . I just didn’t like the way that I was treated. If I’m asked feedback , I will give it .
    It’s forgotten about now .
I sent 2 emails to the managing agents , regarding the windows and my replacement key to the riser cupboard where the electric meters are. The window cleaner never arrived . If they did , the job was done unsatisfactorily . I received a replacement key for the cupboard as the original went missing . Cost ten pounds . Asked them how it should be paid . I noticed that the others never received one as far as I can tell. One thing that is for sure.. I will tell anybody that I cannot find it if I am asked for a loan of it .

Achey today . I guess I am at that age now :)

Went down to Poole for some shoppping . Before I did, I had a quick chat with one of my neighbours ( the one who could be moving ,but saying nothing ). I told her about my windows , and she wasn't sure when they do come and clean them. The chap I saw doing the upstairs, was the other house next door . So I receive an email telling me Tomasz did clean the windows . The office manager asked if I wanted to have my number passed onto him to discuss .
I politely refused, and sent her about 5-6 photos taken from my iPhone . The annoying thing about that is that it has got really sunny and pictures may not have the impact I was trying to point out .
I did suggest that the windows looked like they have been hosed with water but not wiped . Or that maybe it was dirty water being used.
I suggested that Tomasz come over and try again . I don't think I should be getting involved with contractors..just me and the mgt co who I mentioned were professional in the short time I have been here

I mentioned to my neighbour upstairs that I have a key to the electric riser cupboard. Somehow I doubt if the other neighbours have one .

Btw , the windows should be cleaned every 3 months . Could be wrong, but I doubt if they've been doing that .
