Um... yes!? Either that or the victim of identity theft. If you agree to repay something that you don't wind up paying... what would you call that?

What's it got to do with how you are as a potential employee though? That's my argument. Take my mother for example, she got behind on loan repayments when I was a youngster because my father had left her for another woman and the loan was in her name. Does this make my mother a thief because of some very bad luck in her past? What about the 18 year olds, back in the day, banks were throwing loans at them - they were young and naive and couldn't afford the repayments after a few years. Does this mean they'll make terrible employees because of a debt in their past?

It's ridiculous. I'd understand it if you were applying for a management position in a bank or at a creditor's but for a CALL CENTRE JOB paid at SIX QUID an hour?!

So CJ, according to your bold statement, you believe all people with bad credit histories are THEIVES?! You need your head testing.

Luck you that you don't have the financial need to better yourself

Add to that that I am ttc as of next month so want to make the most of the maternity pay!!! ;) Whether I will return ...

I imagine the credit check will be in reference to that fact that we take card payments over the phone. So gathering a lot of peoples personal information!

The advert thing is just the most stupid thing ever seen and I have not been able to get to the bottom of it. On the face of it - it is for an @Home job that any one can apply to if you can spend 6 weeks in Belfast and then work from home. This has never happened before. Everyone has been trained remotely. Enquiring around team leaders the last I heard is that it is for Belfast. Reading through that they are trying to get some of the Belfast agents out and give htem a chance to work from home? Or they have a lot of people applying for the inside job at Belfast and cant office space them all so are making their own @home part? Or ... it is due to the trainer leaving and they dont want to replace him. But tbh I cannot see TT paying for an agents travel, hotel and food costs for 6 weeks! Thats for those that do decide to go for it. But for the majority they are parents, hold 2nd jobs or are students and cannot be away from home for that length of time any way. So unless they are just trying to push mainland UK out and take in only Belfastites I do not see this working. Or if it does it will reduce the applications shedloads. The future of @home is not looking bright ... and I for one am now in fear that if they are going to do this ... when it comes to future update training for the rest of us currently there ... will that mean we have to travel over also?!

So, say, I've spent my entire life on a PC. I know my way around a Mac, Windows and Linux - inside out. What do I have to prove it? Nothing really. You will note that credit and CRB checks are typically at the final stage of recruitment - the reason being that, short of mass fraud, you're hired by then.

We all of us got bad luck. But even those with crappy luck don't tend to have more registered credit cards than the names on our electoral rolls.

Would you rather someone solvent contacted you, asking you to invest in home insurance - happy to take your credit card details - or someone well in the !!!!!! who might well abuse those details given their history?

When I first started the company tried to do a FULL disclosure on us for criminal records. The kind they do when you are going to be working with children or vulnerable people. They soon got the knock back on that one.

As far as credit history, I'm a very honest person. Just because you don't always have the means to pay for things on time and your credit isn't great doesn't mean you are going to take card payments and steal everyone's information.

This is technical support. Its not very often we take card payments anyway.

But going back to the 6 weeks in Belfast for @home training, its utterly ridiculous. Oddly a large number of the last @home intake seem to be based in Belfast. So I stand by my previous statement.

We are clearly being phased out in favour of a call centre. Even though the client prefers @home and sees it as a much more efficient and economic way of performing.

This isn't the only forum I've read negative comments about Teletech guys - I am not going to give up my current part time job for these, not a chance!

CJ - I am going to unsubsribe to this thread now and can't be bothered to get into another argument with you as quite frankly I'm too tired & busy for it. But a little advice, if you persist with that 'high & mighty' attitude then it's no wonder you're unemployed. Try being a little nicer to others and doors will open for you. ;)

And several areas in the South East, South West, Wales and Scotland.
  • I don't actually think I'd take the job now after what I'm reading here, and how rude teletech have been keeping us all waiting. My current job may not be perfect, but at least it's secure.

Right people. I am fresh from a team meeting where the update was thus:

    * Training put back until at least the end of July.
    * They are going to use a new training programme outside of the old teletech university that use to be used. The client have made their own and are demanding that this is used instead.
    * Their training programme is too big and complex to be used on the workbooth cd we have.
    * And that is why all those who want the job must go to Belfast to train onsite!
