I'm quite lucky in that this was a bit of work on the side whilst I am a student, but I do feel quite sorry for anyone who was relying on this as a main source of employment - I was disappointed, some of the others must have been really disappointed!
Yeah, I bet you're right. I made the mistake of signing off on the strength of one of these companies offering work that didn't exist. But that was a long time ago and I am more jaded and bitter now0 -
Hello everyone,
Just to clear something up, the training IS VIRTUAL from your home, it will be done via Adobe or something similiar.
I have my interview next Tuesday, can anyone answer the following questions for me (pretty please) ?
1. What happens in the interview? Are there "group tasks" or is it a simple 1-1?
2. Is the Customer Service position same as tech support i.e. helping Sky Broadband customers?
3. Can we do part time hours? I am going to Uni in September and want to do this around my studies.
Thanks for reading0 -

Hi. Can I ask how you can be sure of this? It seems different people have been given different information. The only conclusion I can draw is that there might be two specific roles - customer service and tech support and that one is training in Belfast, the other is not. This is so confusing. As for what happens in the interview, as I said in my last post (because I can't post links), you need to search this thread for the advice on their Cisco interview set-up as given by the poster "ex-dmp" (page 2 if you have the thread running from first post to latest).0 -

Just to say, I had my 'offer call' last Thursday, was told that training would start early June, and told to wait for the paperwork to arrive.
I received an email this Monday saying that I needed to attend a very important call the next day regarding the job offer and was informed on Tuesday - along with the rest of my offer call group - that there was no longer a job on offer until at least some time from the middle to the end of July.
The lady taking the calls was very apologetic, and told us that this was due to a change in client need. She said that there definitely was to be a job for all of us, and that anyone living in the Belfast area could enquire about continuing the process now if they wished.
Not too sure what has happened, or if the job will in fact ever come to fruition, but thought I'd add my two-cents to this thread.

Well this looks like there is no longer a job with Tele-tech at the moment. Those of us who had the interview on Wednesday are further back in the process, so I think it's safe to say we can all stop checking our e-mail in-boxes0 -

The start dates are in June and then more in July, according to the person's post above.
They wouldn't be advertising still if there were "no jobs". According to another forum, loads of people have left and they're in need of agents

That's not living up to your name, Forever Optimistic!
And I think until we find out the facts for sure, we need to be careful. There are two sets of people here and two sets of information and it sounds very much like there are two entirely different roles0 -
My email says that I have applied for "United Kingdom, @Home" position.
EDIT: Actually I have just found the job I applied for at Hirepoint.com and it does state "6 weeks training in Belfast".
They can't actually be serious?! For a £6 per hour CALL CENTRE job?!0 -
We are still trying to get clarification on this as this would be a massive change from the training for previous groups, however our main manager is on A/L till next week so we can't get anything queried till then. I honestly cannot imagine they would expect anyone from the mainland to go to Belfast for 6 weeks, aside from the pure logistics (childcare etc) TT would surely have to pay to put them up and thats not going to be cheap!! And if they expected you to foot the hotel bill no one will apply! I'm thinking something somewhere has got a lil messed up and situations have changed etc, but if and when I find anything out I will let you know - but tbh you guys will probably know before me! lol0

Yea it's not easy for us to get info from behind the scenes. I asked the newbies team leader last night and was informed it is for Belfast applicants only which would fit in with that has been posted here. But it really should specify that. There was 2 roles up initially a technical one and a customer service one. Both specified @home and then they took the tech one and just left the cust service. What would have made sense is to turn one to Belfast and one to @home. As has been mentioned prob best not to worry about the email in box for some time now!0

Seems you got the info none the less - although I'm not sure what "took the tech one" means. They scrapped it? Fair enough. I tried calling them up at 10am this morning and was met by a half-asleep reception guy who put me through to a total of 4 voicemails and then when I asked to be put through to someone not on voicemail he did exactly as asked - someone not on voicemail but that never picked up and eventually I was cut off. This "opportunity" gets better and better for people.0
