  • My hubby has passed the first interview and the tests and received the work booth cd yesterday. It took a few attempts to get it to work, could that be due to needing an ethernet to connect, which we do have but connect via usb (but I thought he wouldnt have passed the tests so assumed it was ok)

However my main question is can he sign in to work booth even though hasnt had 2nd interview yet... from reading some posts on here it appears that he should have had his sign in.... hirepoint ID is what we dont have (I dont think)

    thanks guys!

I worked for TeleTech in a proper call center in 1996-1997. I was doing tech support (for an ISP) and was also a Supervisor there, so I can relate some experiences...

Tech knowledge - I don't know what roles you guys are going for, but
tech knowledge was not considered hugely important for tech roles. It was also common practice to move Customer Support staff onto the Tech Support queue if it was busy (good for their call answering statistics, bad for customer service!)

Call Times - You got hassled for spending over 6 minutes on a call. And yes, as I was a supervisor I did my share of the hassling (but I was probably more lenient than most). Therefore a lot of the time you had to get the caller off the phone. This was easier back then as it was all dial-up, usually sharing the phone line they were calling on. So you had to get them to try something then call back. Again, great for call stats, bad for customer service.

Monitoring. Calls were recorded and monitored live. I did my share of monitoring. The calls were graded, and it was really minor things that would lead to being marked down. Whilst we didn't have a "script" as such, there were standard ways in which to answer and terminate calls.

Pay - £6/hr seems a bit low... I was getting £5.75 per hour as a techie (which rose to £6/hour) back in 1996. And that was working in an actual call center with the associated overheads.

Overall though, they weren't a bad bunch to work for I suppose, if you accepted their rather draconian staff management - we had to ask to goto the toilet! Or to get a coffee. And only 30mins for lunch. Still, the management liked me so I got away with ignoring that sometimes!

Of course, my info is over 10 years old now!

Oh it's far better than THAT now! You get hassled - or nudged - after about 7 mins - sometimes earlier than that if the SU;s have b*gg*r all to do.

Now you get marked by a selection of agents - some are even in Lipa. Imagine that...getting graded on how you relate and chat with a customer by a person who has English as their second language.:rotfl:

Now you get 12 mins for toilet breaks on a 4 hour shift - heaven help you if you use ALL of those 12 mins though - you WILL be questioned on it. Best not to use them really.

Ten to one someone will say i'm exaggerating...but just wait...that last lot who joined will be back here pronto - and no doubt they will get shouted down as well for 'exaggerating' or being 'negative' or being told that 'it's not the job for everyone' after they'd been told how GREAT a job it was on here!!!!

I have worked for Teletech for 8 months now. I have no problems with the staff, the pay or the breaks. I enjoy the job, love being able to work from home on shifts that enable me to spend time with my kids. Yes, you are expected to work to quality control measures, but they are easy to achieve and lets face it, there's no boss standing over you. The people there to check on you are tolerate, polite and friendly. Don't be put off joining this company, I left a very good job to have a baby and did not want to return to full time work and put him in care, Teletech is as good as any office I have worked in, better, the pay is on time and overtime is paid quickly. I won't be leaving any time soon!!

Sorry, I don't find any of those problems, yes the calls are back to back but I'm used to woking in busy environments so that doesn't bother me, the time goes quicker. The shifts are 4 - 11, but that's what I was looking for, otherwise I would have gone for a position outside my own home. I like this job, it certainly ain't difficult. I have good computer knowledge, maybe that helps. If you couldn't do this job then I can see why you would find it stressful. Also, yes, calls do take you over your shift end sometimes, but you get paid the overtime so I don't hassle about that, and, I am a firm believer that you get out what you put in, so if it's not for you then your right to move on.

    Hi Everyone,

I applied a few weeks ago, took the assesments, even had a telephone interview from America last week. Was told that I would get a final interview via phone on Monday night, and I am still waiting, nobody is getting back to me. Am really gutted as I have been looking for a job for ages, I was laid off in April, and have lots of expirience in this line of work, over 3 years, I am so sick of being led on!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I too applied to Teletech about 6 months ago now. I completed all of the assessments and purchased a router to allow me to do the work (which cost £50!!) as I was committed to doing it. I was told that a Workbooth CD would be on its way to me. I waited and chased by email, and waited and chased by email, and waited and chased by email again (you get the picture). Each time I chased by email I was told that it would be with me within 2 weeks. Eventually I stopped getting responses to my emails at all! I had applied for a Customer Services role. I finally sent them an email to say that if this is the way they treat their potential employees I had no hope for their customers and was withdrawing my application. I did get a response to this email. It simply thanked me for my application and encouraged me to reapply if I was interested in working for them in the future!:rotfl:

What a load of old pants. I would never deal with any company who approach staff with this level of disrespect!

did you get anywhere with them?
i have applied to them for a job and have had to cancel my interview as my lap top did not pass the assessment so have just ordered an external hard drive for the memory.
  • Good luck! I hope you have better luck than me.

I think this company is a bit of a lottery and it depends who's dealing with your application at the time as to whether you'll get anywhere
  • Hi

I have been working for teletech for the last 9 weeks, on the sales side, I do this job as a second job and have been paid correctly every 2 weeks since i have worked for them. The training lasts for 4 weeks and then you have 2 weeks of nesting to get you used to being on the phone. All the trainers are excellent and very friendly.
You do get time to go to the toilet and depending on how long your shift is you also get breaks and a lunch break.
This is an ideal job for the convience of working from home although the recruitment process does take a long time it is well worth it, and to me it meant the company was professional.

Please post any questions if you have any.

Can you not do this full time i.e. 35/ 40 hours per week? I curretnly work in a call centre full time and would take the drop in hourly rate but would need to work min 35 hours per week.
