Hi Jumps. I had my final interview today too, and will hear by Friday if I'm successful. I really hope I am as it seems like a great job to do, especially as it's from home. Good luck with your application too!My Mind Not Only Wanders..... Sometimes I Lose It Completely.....0

I will be there tonight too. I'm really curious as to what this is all about. I'm not sure if I understand correctly, we do call in also, correct?0 -
I had the hardware assesment and as I am using a wireless connection it failed
Could anyone tell me know much the pay is and which shifts are available. I am only available after 7pm on week nights so was hoping to work 7-11 or similar, is this possible?
I hope so as I really need some extra cash
I need to know if it's worth it before I go to all the hassle of re-configuring my home network.
PM me if you prefer.
Thanks.0 -
I worked for TeleTech in a proper call center in 1996-1997. I was doing tech support (for an ISP) and was also a Supervisor there, so I can relate some experiences...
Tech knowledge - I don't know what roles you guys are going for, but
tech knowledge was not considered hugely important for tech roles. It was also common practice to move Customer Support staff onto the Tech Support queue if it was busy (good for their call answering statistics, bad for customer service!)
Call Times - You got hassled for spending over 6 minutes on a call. And yes, as I was a supervisor I did my share of the hassling (but I was probably more lenient than most). Therefore a lot of the time you had to get the caller off the phone. This was easier back then as it was all dial-up, usually sharing the phone line they were calling on. So you had to get them to try something then call back. Again, great for call stats, bad for customer service.
Monitoring. Calls were recorded and monitored live. I did my share of monitoring. The calls were graded, and it was really minor things that would lead to being marked down. Whilst we didn't have a "script" as such, there were standard ways in which to answer and terminate calls.
Pay - £6/hr seems a bit low... I was getting £5.75 per hour as a techie (which rose to £6/hour) back in 1996. And that was working in an actual call center with the associated overheads.
Overall though, they weren't a bad bunch to work for I suppose, if you accepted their rather draconian staff management - we had to ask to goto the toilet! Or to get a coffee. And only 30mins for lunch. Still, the management liked me so I got away with ignoring that sometimes!
Of course, my info is over 10 years old now!0
