No hours are between 22 and 26 on the campaign we're on.
We've been told overtime is readily available but i wouldn't rely on it just in case

Looks to me like the pay is £6 per hour then for most of the roles available... Seems a bit low to me, but I guess the flexibility of home working is worth something.

Basically it's call centre work-for me it's better economics to work from home. No fares, no travel time,no petrol or parking, no lunches/coffees to pay for, no work clothes to buy. Especially for part time work those expenses can really bite into actual earnings. For me it's a better deal than earning a bit more (and paying tax on the difference) and paying those expenses.
Personally I loathe the battery chicken approach of most call centres-I'd rather sit in my own home office -some people miss the face to face interaction with collegues of a physical call centre but I don't-we still chat and gossip but via a chat screen :).
£6 is the basic-there are bonuses linked to performance on top.

Well for me I found TT through Jobcentre(plus) would you believe?
I did the assesments - Somewhere it says 45 minutes, ahem not mentioned that was for the 1st of 4 tests. LOL Did them okay and the CD arrived within a couple of days. I'd mention there a bit of tapping in a paragraph in a set time - Erm, you'd probably need 100wpm typing skills for that one!
Great recruiter who has humour albeit probably 5000 miles away from where I am. They email you a add-in for using MSIE or Firefox but I gave up after finding it would simply not work. I was told that was not a problem anyhow. Got to the induction group call okay though, albeit late with playing around trying to get that add-on to work. The funny thing is that I thought it was a recording and patiently listened then was surprised when I heard voices!
I would say that you must have a fixed router and not a wi-fi one and they tell you that before you even start. The Workbooth CD of course takes over your PC on start up and apart from doing the 'test' (which is all I was expected to do) it worked flawlessly. My actual training starts soon and I was a bit surprised it's going to take such a long time so reading the thread confused me a bit on that.
As I see it the Workbooth software is the key for you logging on and off so pay obviously is associated with the data through it. Having to apply to get a 'certified' document impressed me as to the integrity of the operation - Plus points there. My only fear is the pay is simply not going to be enough for me but I'll see what happens. Oh and remember this is for real employment where they take your NH number and it's PAYE so if you are on benefits etc they might well be affected because the DSS will eventually detect it.

  • hi all
ive spent a long time reading all the threads and posts on tt@home.
I would like to thank everyone for the great information given as it has been a great help.
I have gone throught the process and have been offered a postition. My training starts on 27th Oct so im getting ready for that.

Im hoping to meet some good peeps there and enjoy training as much as I can.

I am disabled as a result of a nasty accident and this position enables me to get back into work and get off those depressing benefits and earn for myself again. I know that TT and this job are not perfect but im willing give it a go and do my best not to get too cheesed off with the bad aspects of the company and the job itself.
Im on the customer service/tech side on the sky broadband account.
Does anyone know if there are any government funds available for peeps like me returning to work after a few years on benefits? Any links to info would be appreciated.
Anyway its hello from me and im pleased to meet you all!!!!
  • Walrus, I wish you the very best of luck with training and look forward to hearing about how your group is doing.

I don't know anything about funding, but I'm sure your jobcentre would be able to point you in the right direction.

I'm in sales at the moment, but moving to Tech Support as a team leader next week. I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoy the work. Yes, there are computer errors that drive you up the wall, yes you have strict guidelines to meet - but it is a good job and there are careers there for those who want them. I have 20 years sales and management experience and TT is no different to any of the other 2 companies I've worked for in my career. You get out of it what you put in. Keep smiling, stay positive and you'll do just great.

With the greatest respect to you, (and I'm sure you are well qualified for the job) could I ask where a t/l job in Tech Support was advertised?

I was just wondering, since the entire Tech Support Department have apparently missed it.;)
