  • I have just finished training with Teletech and am just waiting for CRB check to go through before I start nesting (there has been a delay with the disclosure company not requesting my maiden name until I phoned them to enquire on progress!).

I am currently an undischarged bankrupt and this does not appear to be a problem as I sent them a copy of the order and they have said it has cleared and will be kept on file - just waiting for me to be CRB cleared now.

I think they worry mostly about fraud as you will be dealing with customer accounts and some financial information, which is obviously quite sensitive information.

Will let you know if this is a problem, but they haven't said anything to me about it yet.

I worked for Teletech for about 3 months and i did find the support you got from team leaders and other agents very good. I was a work from home agent and that means you have to have a wired connection to your router, you can not use wireless connection and you must use a corded telephone connection as well. You also need to have a quiet room to work from so you need to take that into account when looking at setting up your computer connection and phone line.
Also when you log on each day to their system you will only receive incoming calls from their customers so no friends or family will be able to call you whilst you are on shift. Whilst logged into teletech you will not be able to access the internet.
The pay is £6 an hour and i was working as support level 1 for sky broadband connection problems. You do not get many grumpy customers but you will get one or 2 that talk to you as if you are an idiot.

The main problem i am having with teletech is that i have been off sick due to a back problem and i have been trying to speak to someone from the HR dpt for 3 months and the only way you can do that is through a team leader. Although they keep promising to get someone to contact me no one has up to now. Also you can not contact the HR dpt by phone as it just goes to answer phone. At the start of my sick period i needed to have a form sent out by teletech to take to the job centre but they would not reply to the job centres demands.
Although you get the support when you are on shift it does seem that they are lacking to offer the same support when you are off sick for a long period, also with teletech being based in northern ireland it can be a real problem to contact them because they do not answer if you contact them by phone.
I would recommend that you take that into account before agreeing to work for them. Also if you have worked in a call centre before and did not enjoy the experience i would strongly recommend you think carefuly before taking a job working from home such as teletech can offer. The same principles apply as in a call centre, if you are not answering enough calls or taking too long on calls they will start questioning you about it.

It is not a problem another person using the internet it is just the computer you will (hopefully) be using that you will be unable to access the net.

They do require no background noise though. Don't know if this would be an issue or if you have a separate area that you can work.

    Good Luck

great stuff. thanks for the reply.
we are going to get a second line installed for my partners business number eventually, as to how quiet the room will be im uncertain- hopefully it will be completely quiet as my pc etc' is in the "office" room so hopefully can shut the door and keep the noise out.

    Hi Guys,

Just need a bit of advice really.

I applied for the teletech @ home customer service job. The first time I applied on the american site not realising it was different but this was about 3 weeks ago and didn't hear anything. I applied last night on the UK site and today received a phone call from an American Woman she left me a voicemail inviting me for a phone interview, she gave me a Toll Free number and told me to call UK time between 1pm and 1am Monday to Friday. I also recieved an email with the assesments.

Will the Toll Free number be free for me to call from the UK? Does this sound right? Very confused.

    Any response would be appreciated.

I am not sure TBH. Normally they arranged a time to call you. It may be worth contacted her via email or just giving her a quick call.

I am with Talk Talk and receive international calls free but may be worth checking with you phone company how much it costs to phone America.

    GoodLuck with the interview.
