Good news I managed to get access to the meeting point website to log into my interview through my laptop.

Well its better than nothing. I was speaking to an employment adviser who said if you stay on benefits you can't earn more than £90 per week or work more than 15 hours per week which will decline your benefits.

Well I dispute what you were told as true! Go look at the DWP website to verify what applies to you. In my case I had to pay back (believing the same as you were told!) all benefits for 5 weeks PLUS 30% penalty and to attend an 'under caution' interview. At the least you MUST advice the JC if you are obtaing JSA of any employment no matter how few hours. Endure the JC drones speaking to you in monologue as they only work on rules and instructions. This might be one of those times you reflect on MP's and see how 'scot free' they fot away with what they did.
    AFAIK JSA will cease!

Yes you do have to advise them of any changes but they stated to me face to face that if you work or study 15 hours or less you are entitled to keep your benefits. This was one of the managers as the Job centre.

Just wanted to let everyone know about my telephone interview today was excellent. I was really pleased the way it was done as I got worried for no reason. It was a group interview held by a sweet Amy who was not an ounce nasty.

They split us up into groups and gave each group different questions difficult customer how you dealt with it, how you reacted to change and why would you like to work from home? Also, asked a brief overview of your history current situation. I got the question describe a time when you fixed a computer issue.

Also, they will let us know the outcome in 48 hours. A credit check and CRB check is required unsure if its paid by teletech. Also, they will send you paperwork to send back to the Belfast office and will provide you with work booth cd plus a headset. She also said you could possible work up to 32 hours and are expected to work on Sat- Sun 3pm-10pm I think.

You are on probation for 90 days and then go permanent as well. She also mentioned that you need a 100% quiet environment kids, dogs, music free environment.

I need to get a better chair as it is creaking that much thank god no one else noticed!
  • They have just phoned me saying that I have to pay for the background check and I am quite sure it costs £23.00.

Have they phoned you about this yet?

    Thanks.

Well I'm afraid ANY paid work will involve loss of JSA! I have been down this track and paid the penalty. Wait until you tell them about the job and see what happens. If you want me to scan something of what happened to me just PM me. If you can find I am incorrect then nothing would give me greater pleasure than to wizz back to JC HQ and show them that they were wrong. As was said to me, rules are rules.

  • no they haven't but I already have one but not sure if it will be accepted.

I think you will find this is not the case.

I have worked before while claiming JSA under 16 hours and still got my normal job seekers. As long as it is under 16 hours and less than a certain pay per week it is okay - I think it is around £80 a week but it might have changed.

Well I'd dearly like you to show me a link to somewhere that says that. Do you know how it felt to get a letter telling me I was to attend an 'under caution' interview and I worked the hours you are mentioning and only for 5 weeks? To be treated like a criminal in a JC central office and I was totally open and even said what you are saying here.

I just got the following e-mail saying I didn't get a job, but she did say some of us will get two e-mails I think.

"Thank you for your interest in TeleTech and for taking the time to submit an application for our TeleTech@Home Customer Service Agent opportunity.

We were very fortunate to have a number of qualified applicants apply for this opportunity, which made the selection process difficult. Although we were impressed with your skills and experience, we will be pursuing other applicants at this time.

Your interest in TeleTech@Home is greatly appreciated. Best wishes in your career search! Please feel free to visit us at anytime at

    Sincerely,

I would post a link if I was allowed but I can't due to being a new member but here is a quote from an official job centre website:

    "Jobseeker's Allowance

Jobseeker’s Allowance is the main benefit for people of working age who are out of work or work less than 16 hours a week on average. If you're eligible, it is paid while you're looking for work. Find out more information including how to apply online.
    Who can get Jobseeker's Allowance?

To get Jobseeker's Allowance you must be:

    * available for and actively seeking work
    * between 18 and State Pension age
    * working less than 16 hours per week on average

Jobseeker's Allowance isn't normally paid to 16 or 17 year olds, except in special cases.

If you’re a man aged 60 to 64, you may be better off claiming Pension Credit. Contact Jobcentre Plus for advice."
