Thought Jimmy Choo was more shoes.
    Cheesy smell perhaps? ;)

I’m sure you’ve probably sorted this now, but depending on how much cash you want to splash, Jo Malone perfumes are lovely. As others have said, perfume is a very personal thing, so why not get her a nice voucher for Jo Malone and she can go along to a shop and choose her own? Their staff tend to be very helpful and attentive and it’s lovely watching them wrap the box.

My favourite Jo Malone scent is Pomegranate Noir, and my other favourite perfumes are Olympia, Euphoria, Coco Mademoiselle, and Alien. :)

Wrong! Read the whole thread and you’ll see I am not alone in disliking Chanel No 5.
I personally hate the Chanel ones & feel they are too old for me also!

I'm talking about the original, not the newer variations.

    Timeless classic.

If it was good enough for Marilyn Monroe, who famously wore it (and nothing else) in bed, it's good enough for the OP's lady :D
  • The point was, you CAN go wrong with that & if wrong it's an expensive wrong
As he's not going to ask, he CAN go wrong with anything, so your point is moot.
And as this is Christmas i would hope he wasnt going to be MSE Cheep.

I also don't like No5, and if I was given a bottle of it, it would sit unused in a drawer.
Perfume is very subjective. My friend used to love Poison, but I always ended up with a massive headache after spending time in her company, due to the perfume.

Samples are the way to go, but obviously as OP wants it to be a surprise, I think he should have listened to the poster who said to see what perfumes she has already and see how much has gone from them.

Alternatively, a gift subscription to The Perfume Society (other subscription boxes are available) would be nice. I have one and I love getting a new box and trying out different perfume samples.

There's a site called Fragrantica which is handy for finding perfumes with similar notes. There are also several sites where you can order sample vials of perfumes. The last one I used was Roullier White.

The trouble with getting a teenager to choose a perfume, is she'll probably like quite sweet perfumes, or fall for the marketing and hype of the latest perfumes, and the mum might not like those ones.
  • I agree the mum and the daughter are likely to like different scents.

Chanel noir. It’s the one perfume people always comment on.
  • OP please do come back to tell us what you went for. I'm curious :-)

For about 20 years now and again I smelt a lovely perfume on passers by that I loved. Was too shy to ask what it was! One day a new colleague had it on so I asked her what it was and the next day went to buy it. Fortunately I tried it first and was shocked. It didn't suit me at all.
Choose something you like and something similar to what she has. Someone who wears something strong like Chanel 5 or opium might not go for something fresh like dreams or j'adore.
