The only fragrance I use is Dior Addict. It's my go to. I've tried many others but they usually end up on ebay

I'd suggest a miniatures gift set . . . Boots do one where there're about 5 different perfumes with a voucher for a full bottle of her favourite, so that way she has a good choice & can also get the full sized bottle

I got my Mum (68) the Gucci Mini set for £32.50 in Boots as I know she loves Gucci perfumes

I love Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb (smells a bit sweet like candyfloss, very popular & one I use in cold weather), Marc Jacob's Dot (more a summer/light one, very nice), and Lady Million is lovely too & my friend (33) & I (38) both like this a lot

YSL Black Opium seems a peppery/winter one I like & J'adore is lovely but seems to be more a going out/evening one

Most guys seem to love Thierry Mugler's Angel or Alien but it was vile on me, so i'd avoid that as it's a strange smell

    Good luck!

I love Ghost as a light, every day perfume at a reasonable price.

Poison is well-named, it makes me feel sick with its heavy, cloying scent.

My treats are Lancôme Miracle and Estee Lauder Pleasures, which are similar.

    I wear Issay Miyake.

Very distinct and I love the smell of it.

(Have left my almost empty bottle out all week in hope that hubby notices I need some more...)

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Well I must be an unusual female because I smelled some cologne onone of our male friends and asked what it was because I really liked it. It was Dolce & Gabana Sport for Men. So I treated myself to some and that's the one I prefer to wear!

This post took me back to my first date :) - we both turned up wearing Brut :).

Love it too! It's not for everyone though. The men's stuff is divine too.

Also love pretty much all the Ghost ones - but Cherish is a very good 'one size fits all' sort of perfume. Pretty inoffensive.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb is gorgeous. Was very happy to have that until some I]insert expletive[/I at work stole it off my desk  I'd probably opt for that one in your shoes OP.

No Poison in any form. It's a real Marmite of a smell, you either love it or hate it. It makes me gag but I know that some women like it. It's way too strong.

I like Bottega Veneta - Knot. It's a bit more expensive and you can't find it everywhere (large Debenhams, House of Fraser and John Lewis all stock it, though).

  • Well, Thank you ladies. Some fantastic suggestions there. Obviously lots of you realise that this is a Christmas present surprise so it just wasn't an option to sort this any other way. I'm taking our Teenage Daughter to Trafford Centre with me tomorrow and armed with the list of the perfume sugestions from the ladies who have kindly given their opinion here I will let our Daughter select the 'best' one for her Mum. After all... as I guess many of you will empathise with... it is the Daughter who will be nicking it at every available opportunity anyway!!

Another couple to look at - there's a great deal on Vera Wang's Lovestruck at Argos at the mo. £19.99 for a 100ml bottle (saving £50), putting it at the same price as the 30ml in Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4487722

Also, Vera Wang eau de Parfum for Women - £29.99 for 100ml (half price).

Try testers elsewhere as presumably Argos won't have any.

Haven't tried them, but have read good reviews and may risk one for my mum and the other for my sis.
