If you have gas, you'd never dream of having an electric boiler.  So why don't you have a gas tumble dryer?
by the time you've paid to get the gas piped to the right place (if it is possible at all) you might as well have paid to install a heat-pump electric drier which is even cheaper to run than a gas drier...
Can you really get out five times what you put in?

The owner of British Gas is preparing to launch a new cut-price brand as it battles to revive its fortunes. Centrica has struck a deal to use a low-cost IT platform to run a digital-only "challenger" brand to try to win back customers who have deserted Britain's biggest energy supplier and moved to cheap start-ups.

Outfox The Market must be quaking in their boots this morning (not)!😂

The low-cost IT platform is Pure Planet; with non-existent customer service!😂

It is never as simple as comparing the cost per kWh, when you are looking as gas vs electricity, how they work is important too.
This is a comparison from Which? ...

At some point you need to decide how important savings at this scale are to you when compared to installation costs and purchase price of the drier.

If energy-efficiency is important for you, why not dry your washing outdoors in summer and indoors in winter, it's also better for the environment?
  • Better yet, only hand wash your clothes as well

Great info !  There are many examples of the above, where the so called savings comes at a comparatively large up front cost. Yes over time there will be some savings, but not as much as one may initially be made to believe.

Say I were to get a new boiler, that, in theory, would save 30% on gas - in my case that is around 8000KW @ 2.08p/KW = £166 a year. If we assume for the example the cost of gas is constant, so over 10 years that is a savings of £1666. The new boiler and installation cost would be more than £1666, and give or take, the life of boilers these days is 10 years.

There would be certain benefits to a new boiler - no doubt it would warm up the house quicker - and there are certainly environmental benefits. But on a pure cost analysis, not really any benefit.

Sartois2020, it's true that Outfox The Market have a poor customer rating of 2.3 out of 5 based on 176 out of date MSE reviews, it's also true that MSE have a poor customer rating of 2.2 out of 5 based on 540 current Trustpilot reviews, but Outfox The Market have an excellent customer rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on 21,192 current Trustpilot reviews!

If only Trustpilot reviews were all reliable and accurate, then it might mean something, but with services like this out there I think it is better to look at the reviews on this forum ...
