Reporting £1250.48 for month of August please
Number is 1450 -
hi all, no. 15 here reporting (alas) nil for August, due to some fairly hefty if expected expenses - it will probably be better for the last four months of the year, so onward and upward. There's a chance now I won't meet target for this year though, but to be honest I've spent a fair amount on basic maintenance this year that I refused to spend in previous years in order to save as much money as possible. However, these things catch up with you over time, and it's a false economy not to keep things in good nick. So I think it's okay. And despite it I will certainly still try to meet my target.0

Been a very busy month, with the S&S ISA to Cash ISA gone smoothly in June I in full swing of preparing to buy my first property in London. I have been in touch with mortgage advisor at my bank as well as an independent (whole of market) mortgage broker my cousin recommended.
Now in the (what I find quite stressful) period of finding a place to buy! I'm finding it very difficult with house prices as they are and everywhere I look at I'm always thinking "How on earth is this place worth £450k!!"
Any general tips/advice for a first time buyer in London would be much appreciated!
£613.75 saved in August!
Been another busy month, work being manic and a lot of house hunting. Finally found a flat and have an offer accepted, the price is below £450,000 which will allow me to use my Halifax HTB Isa which is good news! Very excited but fingers crossed it all goes through smoothly.
I have a quick question hopefully someone can answer: I have a few regular savers and might well be withdrawing all the cash from them to use as part of my house purchase. Will I still receive interest on these if I withdraw them in full (and close them)? Or should I withdraw all but do NOT close the account? Or should I leave £1 in them to keep them open to still receive the interest?"If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

Most regular savings accounts commit you to saving for a year before you can get the interest. Others will calculate the interest when you close the account.
When you do empty them, it's probably not worth leaving empty accounts dangling, unless they have an unmatchable interest rate - unlikely at the moment, they are all pretty poor!Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

Number 20 checking in for July and August.
£1240 in July and £2770 in August bringing my total for the year to £15400 so far. Nicely on track with just a few long weekends and no big holidays planned.
We have a new flatmate which makes outgoings much lower than they were before and I've also got a carshare going. July was down mainly due to a very last minute cancelled flight by easyjet and a rebook with klm the next day. I have now been refunded the £500 by easyjet (hence the much higher august total).Save 12K in 2018 #20 - £20,890/£18,000 (116%) November £1950
