Next year the boy would have loved it. The girl has worked so so hard this year and sees it all as futile now. She has just finished her mocks so hoping she can get those results sent to her. And halfway through her photography final piece. She is goigg to email her teacher or advice on that as that is what she wants to do at A level so makes sense to finish it for her portfolio.

Just feel so bad for her, been an awful week for her, happy 16th!

Yeah that has to be hard then, on the plus side it sounds very much that she has worked hard towards all her subjects so if they do base it all on how they have performed throughout the year hopefully she will get all the grades that she needs.

    So update from here.

The girl is still so upset, not helped by being off (bad hay-fever symptoms arrived at just the wrong time) so she also missed the very last day of school. Lots of tears 😭 she sat her business exam in October and passed, her coursework should have gone off last month, so she should get a proper grade for that (she passed the exam already) and it looks like her photography final piece should be sent at the end of April, no reason why it can't be graded really, so she will be finishing that in the coming weeks. The mock results she received have been amazing so really hoping her grades will reflect all the work she has put in. Have cancelled her tutor, but hope to have them back for the boy once everything settles back down.

The small two finished school, no Sat's for the wierd one, no bad thing, but am concerned re his transition to secondary. Being on the sen register he was due a whole load of extra visits and help, it's all in the air now though. The smallest has had high anxiety and this culminated in a huge meltdown on the last day of school. He is much better now he is home.

Am trying to save as much money as possible. Both my jobs are shaky, will see what next week brings. One of my clients is trying to fly home if they go I can definitely go to there's as I do some more housekeeping work while they are out of the country anyway. But expecting a much lower pay over the next couple of months.

Spent money on paint for the bedrooms, craft stuff for the girl (school is still sending work for year 11, but suggesting only focus on topics they are planning to carry on. Only photography for her) nd a couple of board games. Popped to mums to pick up the wallpaper steamer and check dad had enough books 😂📚 I managed to get to the library on Thursday so am well stocked too. Won't see mum and dad now as they are isolating due to age and mum's health.

We are all good so staying in as much as possible, but will drag the boys out for a long walk somewhere tomorrow I think.

  • That’s so hard, missing the last day of school. My DD is in Y11 and was upset to have missed the last day, although her friends did their best to involve her via text.  Good idea  for your DD to carry on building up a portfolio for her photography.

Hi DIA - glad that your daughter has done so well in her mocks - that must be reassuring at least.
My parents are self-isolating too - age and medical conditions. MIL should - and probably will but isn't yet. We largely will be as we have underlying conditions.
I like that you got the kids things to do. At least we have loads of craft stuff we could do to keep us happy / out of boredom.
Stay well. I am wondering about cracking open a laminator we bought and doing a proper 'self-isolating sign'

Honestly she is so upset by it. It's like she is going through a grief process. Sounds dramatic but teen girls tend to take things so hard at the best of times. She has a new Switch and Animal Crossing to play, and most of her friends play together with group chats etc so she is in touch. Still doesn't stop my heart breaking for her though. Of all my kids she is the one who will excel in exams and thrives on beating targets. None ofthe boys would have cared, in fact the year 10 boy is upset it didn't happen to him 😂 and we have pointed out to him that working superhard for mocks is being shown as incredibly important.

Was going to go out today, but think we will hunker down for another day. Need some milk, so will be off for a hunt if our local store doesn't have any, (increased milk delivery from next week) but otherwise that's it.

Hi DIA - good that they have group games to play. DD does too. DS will be home soon - and he can potentially play some games with DD - if she will let him

With the decorating supplies you've picked up you can definitely keep the kids busy......not sure what the results would be if completely left to their own devices

So today I worked from home. But it was really quiet and I don't think there will be much to do tomorrow either. I popped to the DIY store and got paint for the front fence that was put up in October. All painted now. Also got stones so I can put another bin as the lawn is shocking. The back desperately needs cutting, will hopefully do that Wednesday.

I have cancelled nearly all my clients. I will go rto one on Wednesday, but they managed to get home (another country) today, so will go in for a final clean and water plants etc. Just one client to contact, but most are home now and it feels wrong going in if they are there, often difficult to distance. So self employment will be zero after wed. Next couple of months are going to be lean.
