Charity ball sounds fun. We went to one years ago - but I'd have to lose rather a lot of weight to fit in that dress!

  • Back to school today, the wierd one did not appreciate it at all, lots of tears and upset, dreading secondary school in sep! Bribed him by picking up his parcel from the post office which did cheer him up a bit.

Have a full on wok day tomorrow so I can rake Thursday off to go on the smallest school trip with him. A farm, in feb, am going to freeze! 😂

Regular saver matured, got £85 interest which all went into various categories which were low. Car had to go to the dealers as main garage couldn't fix it, they did something that cost £300 so will see if the warning light stays off now. Also did a recall part at the same time. Only plus was the amount of walking I had to do while it was in. So car main looking bare now and need a new tyre at some point.

New regular saver open, less interest this time though as the nw deal has gone.

Oo farm day, can I come??? (definately lots of layers though .........will be chilly  )
Oh foo to the car costs, hope that it's all sorted now though and stays sorted, personally I think it would be much better to go back to horse and cart days but then I am also convinced I should have been born in the 1800's..........

    LOL at 1800s.
Glad your save matured at a time that allowed you to pay towards car troubles. It's good to have savings pots though - it reduces some of the stress.

So it actually snowed on Thursday we're for the farm day. It was actually an iron age village farm thing. Was really good (although ridiculously cold) there is a roman villa they have built too which was use  in the horrible histories movie. The kids did some digging for artifacts, made a wattle fence etc. The smallest enjoyed it. Came back stinking of fires though from the iron age round house.

Debt is creeping downwards, but we have an appointment with a mortgage advisor next weekend to look at the possibility of moving. Depending on what we can borrow and what our house is worth we may move. But would mean probably doubling the mortgage payment. So discussions are onging atm. But the porch roof leaking was kind of the last straw. And the parking around here is bonkers now, I want my own driveway.

Sounds like you had fun at the farm/iron village, hope you had the layers on!
Debt going down is always good, I know how you feel about parking, it can be a bit manic around me although if I actually get my garage cleared out I could park in there (although would also need a new door as it doesnt stay up on it's own.........one to add to the list).

Been so lax at updating here.

Went for a mortgage appointment. Omg at how much we could borrow!!! 😁 Have moved up two brackets on rightmove looking at what is available. Annoyingly found a house I know I would adore, right at the top of the bracket, but although I think it is wonderful I don't think it would suit the whole family. We need to do a bit of work to the house (decluttering, garden maintenance and sort the bloody porch!) and it would be better if I six months of pay slips from the new job (June) and hubby is going for a promotion (10k pay rise) so no point even getting on the market until mid May really. If that house is still available once ours has sold and depending on what we ge  it will be worth a view. We need to clear the debt so going to speak to my dad about the amount he kept back from my grandad to see if he will gift it for that. But still shocked 😲 it will double our mortgage payments so will be some big budget meetings in the future and a 10k pay for hubby would mean no more tax credits and would push him into 50k+ territory so child benefit would also be impacted.

Otherwise we are just plodding along atm. The girl has mocks and is very worried bout any possible school closures/gcse postponements. Our scotland trip is all up in the air, and hubby may be off on a boys weekend to Spain the weekend beforehand. Trying to fit evrything in atm is hard work.

Supposed to be off to alton towers on sat with hubby's work, fingers crossed it still goes ahead.

That's great about the mortgage, could you look at saving up over the next few months the difference between what you pay now vs what you will pay on the new mortgage to give you an idea as to whether or not budget wise it's realistic for you? Good luck on the promotion for hubby let's hope he gets it and you get a few months of the new wages for next effect on benefits before you move. I'm finding it very frustrating at the moment waiting for all the new bills to come through and to find out what pay rise is going to be. All we can do is focus on what you can control.
