Postal Strike Effect

There are a few groups on eBay that share details on name and shame buyers, and they probably have a combined community of around 1000 members. Given the size of the ebay, it's doubtful you would encounter one of these people in the future anyway.
Blocked bidder list is a token gesture from ebay to sellers, but in reality is pretty ineffective. It only blocks on name, not address - so whats to stop you opening another account, or using OH's account?
Besides, if you had a bad experience once, why would anybody want to trade again? If it's purposely to leave malicious feedback, then thats pointless, as the seller can report this as an offence to eBay anyway.
The whole postal strike business has been a nightmare for sellers - I've got a few items still outstanding from posting on 10th & 11th, but i have kept my buyers up to date by emailing them details of the official statement from the Royal Mail website, and various news articles about warehouses dotted around full of parcels.
All have been understanding, and so far I've take no negativity from it, and my DSR's have not been affected. It's not difficult to send a few emails off to buyers to answer their qustions before they even have to ask them. It's the simple things that separate a good seller from an ordinary seller.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
daisybella thanks for posting, it goes to show there's always 2 sides to a story. Based on the comments the seller made to you in his/her emails, they're just full of it, so I wouldn't worry about any banned lists.
I personally would leave negative feedback quoting the 'take your head out of bucket' so what if they neg you back, most ppl know ebay feedback is a pile of crock anyway.0 -
DaisyBella thanks for posting your side of the story. It's shocking that the seller reacted that way to you asking a simple question. I would consider leaving at least a neutral (if not a neg) to warn other buyers that this seller is so aggressive.0

I am still waiting for a package which I paid for on the 5th October. I have sent the seller 4 emails and got not one reply so I have opened a Paypal dispute now0

I don't get why some sellers don't communicate with their buyers. I was considering buying an item at the weekend until I looked through the feedback and there were about 20 cases of items arriving broken and seller not responding to emails.
As a seller the minimum I do is thank them for winning bid, tell them when item is posted, and then follow up in a few days if they haven't already left feedback.0 -
Just for info - something I won was posted on 5th and arrived on...27th!! I'm guessing there is still stuff stuck out there...somewhere! My seller stayed in contact, I thought it was lost, but remained patient and it turned up.2008 wins. DVD player together with Now quiz/Now 2008 DVDs,£25.00 Real People, pair of tickets for London Eye.0

I posted an item on the 15th October, to date it has not arrived with the buyer who is, understandably, fed up.
I logged onto the Royal Mail website to claim for the lost item but was horrified to find that RM only considers an item 'missing' after 15 WORKING DAYS - which means over 3 weeks - just hope she believes me!
Apparently, 15 working days is not a specially extended date due to the strike, it is normal.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
yes it is normal.0

As others are in the same position.
Posted 1st class packet on the 16th, recieved email from buyer saying the item had arrived today (31st).
Also bought an item that was posted on the 12th and recieved it on the 25th.

2 items still missing from being posted around 5th October. The Ebay package the seller (feedback 35) did not respond so I opened a Paypal dispute 10 days ago & got a refund yesterday & now he is a non registered user so I can't even leave feedback.
The second package I have to contact Zignig as it was a normal online shop I bought from.
Are these missing packages every going to get delivered or are they now gone forever?0
