  • I posted two items 1st class recorded on Friday and they've both been received today, one was in Scotland the other in England, so really pleased with that.

I have to say I'm delivering alot of 1st class packets now next day or over 2 days. I think its normal service and theyre trying the blend the backlog in.
Unfortunately if youre london, liverpool, glasgow etc its just gonna get stuck there.

well i'm not a happy bunny... i sent two items recorded delivery one on the 5th oct and one on the 12th and none have been delivered yet
  • "Buyers need to understand they have to be a lot more patient at the moment. It could take a few weeks before all the backlogs are cleared."

I agree, but it would help if sellers communicated a bit more especially when we're all aware that there have been problems with the post. I'm waiting for two parcels both not cheap and I haven't heard a thing from the sellers, it would help if a courtesy email was sent just to let the buyer know that it's on its way. When I sell whether it be amazon or ebay I treat the buyer as I would expect to be treated in any transaction. ATEOTD a bit courtesy costs nothing. ;)
  • I sent an item 1st Class Recorded Delivery on 25th September and it only reached it's final destination on 13th October!

I just made sure that whatever I posted during the strikes was sent recorded....unfortunately one was to London!

They were sent on 8th October and are still missing in action. Fingers crossed they'll appear soon!

Good luck to all you ebayers.

TOTALLY agree with you! I keep my buyers informed every step of the way. So many problems I hear about wouldn't arise if buyers and sellers simply communicated more :) Hope your goods turn up tomorrow.

Liverpool are on a wildcat strike.

  • hi,

I have sold on ebay/amazon in the past and an item went missing awhile ago which I sold on Amazon. Literally hours after it should have arrived (according to the ideal RM estimation) I had the buyer sending me emails demanding they're money back. I refused and said they would have to wait for RM to give me the money back as previously I have sold items and then tried to claim only to find out from RM that the person has give the wrong address, so they have refused. I really really cannot afford this but what can I do in the future?

Nothing at all really unless you choose to send everything signed for and even then it seems to be that recorded is slipping with more and more items not being signed for which won't help you. In the case of a wrong address then even recorded won't help as of course it will not be signed for and so will be obvious it is missing.

It is quite rare though that people use the wrong address, I've had it happen a few times but percentage wise it is a tiny anount of my overall sales. I had a US buyer only this month who forgot she had moved , so I had to refund he in full and hope that my RM claim goes through.

Whether you are selling on ebay or Amazon you still can't wait to claim your refund from RM before refunding your buyer because of the time it takes. Asking an ebay buyer to wait will probably push them into a chargeback which gets messy. On Amazon it can be worse because if they start an A-Z claim they will get their money back but more importantly you get a mark on your account and once you start getting too high a percentage of those they close your account.

Custardy..if you are reading this can you offer any thoughts on a suspicion I have? Talking to others it seems to be that standard post is getting through in most areas, mine certainly is virtually up to date now. However, it seems that the items being held back are recorded delivery things where a sig is required. I wonder if due to weight anything that might not get delivered, like recorded which needs a sig, is not going out on the walks on a daily basis? This would account for the amount of recorded delivry items that people ar ereporting have not arrived..either that or they aren't bothering with sigs any more and buyers are generally getting more dishonest and claiming item has not arrived?
