Postal Strike Effect

im hearing some real horror stories from delivery offices and mail centres nationwide.
huge backlogs, overtime bans, missort runs not happening(these are done every morning for local 'intra' missorts so they go out same day.
the late starts are causing other issues, for example firms dutiies( van runs usually) go out early to get round the businesses early (and lot pay extra for this service)however with the posties starting later the mail isnt sirted and 'up' in time so they cut and leftover mail is left for the next day!
i raised the firms/mail sorting issue the 1st time later starts were mentioned as i knew this would happen.
@ emmiemac i wouldnt be refunding at this stage as most likely they will have a refund and then get the item0 -
Was chatting to my postie as I have had parcels delivered that were sent this week but not ones posted during the strike.
He said that they had huge backlogs and contrary to what RM officials are saying about it being sorted in date order, what comes in now is going out and the mountains of stuff still sat in the sorting office is being gone through 'as and when' they get time.0 -
I paid for an item on 28th September, and it only arrived today!
Damn that strike.

I emailed my Ebay seller once, just to find out if/when he had posted (6th October, 1st class). It would be a van delivery. In these circumstances, how long would you leave it before regarding it as missing?0

there are no rules for this regarding times, just go with the official RM timings for missing items0 -

To me it depends..If the seller is being evasive or not responding to my gentle requests for info I might put in a chargeback as early as week 2. If the seller is being very co operative, pro actively keeping in touch and handling my concerns I might go a bit longer. I would rarely wait the 3 weeks for my seller to put in a RM claim, that claim is between the seller and the RM and is nothing at all to do with the buyer.
I've got a few bits at the moment I am waiting for. Those sellers that advised me when it was posted I will probably not even worry about contacting for a few extra days, those sellers that never bothered to tell me they had despatched I will probably contact on day 7 to ensure that item is actually on its way.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You are not alone...my items posted on 8th (as per seller) still hasn't arrived.

I am getting really fed up with buyers that are constantly harrassing me about where there items are. Most of my items are sent recorded anyway so of course there is no sign. When I explain about the strike (incase they have had their head in a bucket) it still does no good. Uuurrrggg! Bloody Royal Mail!0

I posted an item I had sold on ebay, on the 10th Oct by first class. I've now had my second email from the buyer complaining that it hasn't yet turned up. In reply to the first one I sent a very nice message explaining about the strikes and asking if she could wait a few more days to see if it arrived.
I really feel annoyed as yes it's a wait of 8 days but since it was posted during the strikes I'm not that surprised it isn't there yet. Should I just refund her (£8) to keep my 100% fb or should I tell her to stop being unreasonable (I think) and keep waiting? Surely it will turn up in time.
Ah - well I think this is about me - considering I was sent a link to it from my seller  . And the flip side to this coin goes as follows........I bought an item and heard nothing from the seller. Granted there was a postal strike, but no communication makes me nervous and 2+ weeks had passed. Anyway, I felt well within my rights to ask the seller when the item was posted and the seller responds with a 'be patient'. This does not of course instil any confidence in me, so I reply asking for more info. Seller now takes umbrage that I am not being patient - and so I esculate it to a paypal dispute, explaining my concerns. I am then told by the seller to 'take my head out of a bucket' and be patient. Now considering I bought and paid so promptly, even if I haven't received the item, a little customer service goes a long way. Well never one to run from a verbal attack I retaliated with a bit of a tongue in cheek email explaining that in future when asked about a missing item, the seller should perhaps provide information like, 1. when the article was posted and after what period of time the seller is prepared to take action. Well....the reply I got was quite shocking. I was given an absolute telling off (and that is putting it politely). I was told in no uncertain terms that I was no barred from bidding on her items in future and that people on this forum had now barred me too (which I feel is a bit harsh). I was also told not to email her anymore. I took this to mean communications had now fallen through and I esculated the dispute to a Paypal Claim. I did receive a snippy email from seller saying she would refund or replace in 10 days, but she reckons I wouldn't be that honest to admit when I received the item. Well call me names, but gosh darn I am no thief. So anyway a few days ago I did receive my item (3 weeks after sale). I duly cancelled my Paypal claim. I then thought I would let the seller know I had received the item and was even wrestling with the idea of leave positive feedback as I did receive the item even if customer service / after sales support was slightly lacking. So I send email saying I had received the item and that just for the record I don't steal and I then wished her well for her future trading. Unfortunately it would appear that she still considers me her mortal enemy and the reply I got was: Did you bother to look at date of postage? I too am an honest seller. 'Hope all this was worth it. You are now blocked from lots of people auctions. Ignorance gets you nowhere!'.
Well shock horror - needless to say I don't feel I can now leave positive feedback. I have made purchases from other sellers since this transaction and have yet to find myself 'blocked' - but just thought I should get my point across too. I am new to this forum and so for all I know there is a message board somewhere that lists all dodgy ebayers???? :A:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
daisyBella don't worry about being blocked by a lot of sellers, it will be a bluff. There are very few name and shame type forums, so I wouldn't worry about that either as your experience shows that without both sides of the story no one should be judged as being a good or a bad seller.
Lastly, do not leave feedback..I know others will not agree with me but due to the nature of the emails I cannot see that you could in all honesty leave a positive and I think if you leave anything else you are likely to just get a neg straight back again. Personalyl I would not risk getting a neg on top of everything else that has gone on.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
