  • At lunch time today I received a recorded delivery parcel from an auction that I won late on Sunday night, that she posted out yesterday morning. No delay there, but I am still waiting for 2 items I won from the previous Sunday. Work that one out if you can.

I was chatting to the lady at our post office today regarding whether to buy 1st or 2nd class stamps ( nothing to do with Ebay)for letters that need to be delivered in a couple of days.
She said that anything that was posted after the strike was being delivered as normal, it is the items that were posted just before or during the strike that the workers are still playing catch up with, which would explain why letters posted since the strike are arriving and the ones before are delayed.

I needed to send something special today and they are still not guaranteeing next day service with it.

yup,if you think about it it suits RM as it takes pressure off them.
heard from a postie who has asked his manager about some SD items he had(knowing with late starts it would be after 1pm)and the manager said dont worry its not guarenteed anyway!!!
not the attitude you would expect

Liverpool still on strike with no liklihood of return to work.
Wouldn't mind but sent a DS the day before it began. Recorded Delvery so may get there one day.

    Royal Mail Dispute

Further negotiations took place last week between the CWU and Royal Mail’s Chief Executive Adam Crozier. Following those negotiations proposed terms to settle the dispute were presented to the Postal Executive over the last two days.

The TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber has now invited both parties for a further meeting so that the CWU can clarify the remaining outstanding issues. In light of these developments it was also agreed to suspend the current round of industrial action.

This meeting has been scheduled to take place tomorrow (Thursday).

well this is as far as we have got it seems.
incidently there are stil massive backlogs regardless of what the rm site says about dealing with stuff day by day!

well i was in my own office today.
all i can say is the backlog is huge! forget this being cleared anytime soon.
they are cutting every day in the DO ,so they sort so much mail then move on to doing their own walks and taking that out.
also a massive backlog on carded packets coming back to the office for collection.
edinburgh mail centre is buried under the backlog as well.EMC hadles between 1 and 1.5 million items per day so you can imagine what a 4(5 with sunday)backlog is like with more mail coming in every day

oh and i dont rip people off when it comes to postage, 70p first class recorded for a dvd or game and £1.60 for recorded.

I posted an item I had sold on ebay, on the 10th Oct by first class. I've now had my second email from the buyer complaining that it hasn't yet turned up. In reply to the first one I sent a very nice message explaining about the strikes and asking if she could wait a few more days to see if it arrived.

I really feel annoyed as yes it's a wait of 8 days but since it was posted during the strikes I'm not that surprised it isn't there yet. Should I just refund her (£8) to keep my 100% fb or should I tell her to stop being unreasonable (I think) and keep waiting? Surely it will turn up in time.
