jamie x
Hi JamieMy new one is from Tchibo got it for £7.99 in a sale my older one is a breville (don't think they even make thee anymore??Its about 10 years old!) Robert dyas have one in at £14.99 and amazon have them sometimes..Check for vouchers on here first
or cashback!!
Sammy lovely to see you hows Ben?? Are you coping ok with the milk thingy?? After xmas is out of the way have a look around the DFW board there's a wonderful bunch on there who will help with the debtsWhat sort of crafts do you like doing?
Cheerfulness lol it does come out rather huge but its good to stash in the freezer if it gets that far! I never even thought about freezing the doughnuts  I can double up and stick some in there for 'emergencies' thanks for that, brilliant idea :T
Jamie so pleased they liked them I never make 'normal' fairy cakes anymore as the other 2 can't tell the difference between them and his special ones!!You know you've got to try the brownies now...:rotfl: Did you have any luck with the bread? This was our worst challenge as it had to look right, taste right and the texture etc etc etc nightmare  At least when we got all the samples through the dietician it gave us a bit of leeway for 'experiments'...*there's a land fill site somewhere full of some weird shaped things that weigh 3 tons and even the rats won't eat.... *0 -
Phew! Have just read this thread from beginning to end and i have to say - i'm INSPIRED!!! I just wanna go and bake things now lol
What a woman you are D&DD! Thank you for sharing all this and your lovely family with us, your positive approach and energy is infectious!
I am also a hoarder, from times when DD was little and i was on my own with hardly anything in the fridge or cupboards some weeks. Now i like to have a stash on standby - 24 tins of tomatoes, 12 spaghetti, 12 beans, 8 kidney beans, 7 bags of pasta - you get the picture!
So i'm going to shop from home too for a while, put some extra cash in the savings for doing up our new house in Feb
Take care

Sammy - you were right!!!! very yummy! in fact i found that it made a massive amount of dough so i split it in 2 and made a cheese and ham one too, for lunchboxes tomorrow:)
D&DD - hmm the bread, i have bought, but havent yet tried him on, tesco free from bread. as he only eates toast and doesnt like the texture of bread, and only toast with marmite on lol, i was thinking of trying him with it tomorrow....will let you know how it goes....
i def have to try the brownies.... is the recipe on this thread?
will keep my eye out for a donut maker, they dont sound too expensive!
phew, i have had quite a day in the kitchen today,
have made:
swiss chard quiche
jam tarts
apple braid
cheese and ham braid
rainbow cakes
roast chicken dinner
and also, honey glazed carrots and parsnips (to go with roast)
all went down well and all a success.
do you use the dough setting on your panny for the braid? im afraid i only have a little oven so cant make huge massive long things in there!:( my dream is a range cooker!
thanks for all the advice!!

Thanks Sammy,I was thinking last night I should really add some pics so you can all see where all the food from Tescos lives :rotfl:
I'll get on to it today and get some of the garden while I'm at it(after I've weeded  )
Here's one to be getting on with...
Just a note - Mr T has Dove Organic Breadflour on offer at 60p just now; ownbrand is 63p.
The Dove flour has made my best bread yet - I don't use a machine though.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Whoever asked - think it was Jamie - the brownie recipe is on page three - when you see the apple braid picture it is the next post after that i think.
havent tried it yet but am very tempted to buy a doghnut maker myself now!!!
Jamie - does you son ahvea food texture problem too then?? or an allergy of soem sort (sorry went back but couldnt see anything on it - am half asleep at minute though so may have missed it) jsut saw you mention the 'free from' food range - join the club!!! My son is lactose intolerant so im having fun at the minute too!Time to find me again0 -
sammy - yes, i have 3 children on the autistic spectrum and one that isnt, ds3 is severely autistic and is pretty much non verbal, nearly 7 still in nappies etc, the other two aspies ds1 adhd.
all would benefit from gf/cf diet but trying to implement it is another story entirely!
and im shattered today!:D really looking forward to my bed tonight!!November NSD's - 70 -
Thanks lilmisskitkat
I think Tesco's takings must be plummetting at the moment with us all doing this :rotfl:
Ampersand I'm down now to around 32 bags of bread flourI have a secondary flour store upstairs plus more to the side of the that pic :rotfl: Thanks for the heads up on the prices though!
Sammy I think you'd get on ok with the doughnut thing as you persevere with stuff. After you've done a couple of batches its not so fiddly (the worst bit is getting them out without catching your fingers, hot!!
Jamie the tesco's freefrom stuff is quite edible compared to some things we've tried..The chocolate cake bars are great for packed lunches, the baguettes are ok.Not keen on any of the biscuits though..(can you tell I'm the guinea pig..) You have been busy today, are you still rushed off your feet with work too?? Try to dabble a bit at first finding subs gradually for favourite foods took me over a year of experimenting and trials before I could pull the lot! Less stressful for you that way and the kids0 -
D&DD, yes i am feeling it today with work too as its getting busier in the lead up to xmas!! as well roll on january so i can rest!
i thought my dd was looking a bit pasty when she came back from nursery this afternoon, and she nodded straight off on the sofa. i was right as she has just been sick, so no nursery for her tomorrow and more washing for me, i am expecting a bad night with her now:( bless her, i had it when they are ill!!!
i am very gradually trying to swap various bits and bobs over...it takes a long time you are so right!! im so glad the rainbow cakes were a success, now it means i wont have to bake the normal ones again..they are all happy to have pure spread, all fruit and veg is organic, trying to swap the meat over too (very expensive!!)
the milk is a bit of a bind as all my lot are majorly into dairy!!! ds3 will drink soya or rice milk though and they drink water or rocks organic squash.
a very long road isnt it!!!
i sooooo want a donut maker!:DNovember NSD's - 70 -
:T Way to go Jamie you're well on the road already
I use Rocks too and I know what you mean about the meat prices  I just can't stretch to that yet but will do eventually when we finish up the debts!! We exchanged parts of the soy milk for water at first gradually adding less til he got used to it..He loves Darifree but its so expensive I get a tin every other month usually for his 'milkshakes' its got a lovely creamy taste and no after taste either.
Sorry to hear about your poor DD I never sleep when mine are like that either I camp out upstairs with them...usually with the laptop and a flask of coffee for company! Hope she feels better soon :grouphug: and hope you get some rest tonight!!0 -
