Yak @ celery, anything go well with gardners chicken instead, can't cope with celery, not even the smell of it, yak, yak, yak!!!

Oh is there any way to make donuts without a deep fat fryer, I don't have one? I also need to find somewhere to rise bread still, no radiator in the kitchen means the last attempt at letting them rise in there didn't work. Baking is not my strong point but I'm still trying.

Still doing ok here, I've not done any big shopping, some fruit from local shop but that was all, I don't think I will be using them too often, £2.40 for less grapes than I know the market sells for about £1. I really need to try and find cheaper sources of most things that are still good quality like fruit and veg as like others I am noticing huge differences in prices as I'm shopping. Also been mentioned in several articles online & in the papers that the prices are expected to increase hugely.

Lunch was soup and toast today....slight switch round on meal plan mean't meatballs instead today
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

i'm using up whats in cupbaords and freezer. and don't really have much of any use left in. well i do have alot. but nothign goes together. meals have been um well interesting.
What I find helps is finding a recipe which you have the majority of ingredients for and only allowing yourself to buy 1 item at most to finish it off :D or better still find a 'magic' ingredient which will finish off more than one meal

Just done a huge bulk shop on tesco and when i say huge i mena huge. about £300 , alot on bogof's tho. so going to go through it all and see if i need it all.
Now I'm jealous :rotfl: I must resist the pull of Tesco's...

i'm trying to not go shopping much. as where i been living out of cupbaords , i not been to the shops and we have saved so much money. so my thinking is , fill freezer up with what i use loads of , fill cupbaords with rice , pasta , lasange , fur etc etc. so then i only need to go the the local fruit and veg shop and they delvier for 50p and this way it will stop me buyign stuff i don't neeed. as being pregnant , i am buying all sorts of werid and wonderful thing's. is that makes any sence at all.
Yep makes perfect sense and if you buy it when its on BOGOF like you have its moneysaving too :T

Have u been shopping yet ddd or are u still using up what u have ?

Noooo  still just little top ups so far..guess what I've run out of again tho...they're red :D Anyone got a spare polytunnel filled with strawberries???

Hi lil_me :rotfl: I take it celery's a no-no then...I'd suggest a few carrots or maybe some turnips even. Its really anything you like to bulk out the chicken :D Re shopping I saw a board outside a newsagent at scouts saying turkeys will be £100  ..needless to say we'll be having chicken...

Now see.. I have one of those doughnut makers..(well 2 actually just in case one breaks:o ) One makes 6 at a time the other makes 7 they are excellent but a bit of a faff to get the hang of at first.

    Gluten/casein free doughnuts

3 oz gf flour (doves farm)
    2 oz caster sugar
    2 x 5ml spns gf baking powder
    1/4 tspn salt
2 fl oz soya milk/darifree made up
    1 large egg
2 tblspns sunflower oil or melted pure spread

Preheat dmaker for 5 mins, combine dry ingredients, combine wet ingredients, chuck both in together and beat lightly til mixed.Add one dessertspoonful to each hole bake for 2 mins and voila :D

    For normal ones
    3 oz plain flour
    2 oz c sugar
    2 x 5ml spns b powder
    1/4 tspn salt
    3 fl oz milk
    1 large egg
    2 tblspns oil

These cost literally pennies to make and are perfect when you have a crowd of starving kids in!:D

D&DD - wow! This so inspiring, I've read through this thread and now I feel ready for a challenge myself! I am quite 'old style' in the way I cook but you out me to shame...some days I cook like a demon and others I just can't be bothered and end up with something quick. I've also just got back from my holiday but I;m not out of holiday mode yet!

Keep up the good work and be proud of yourself.
I plan on giving your apple braid a try - and I agree, Hugh Fearnly-Doo dar's banana bread is one of our favourites too. :D

Lizzieanne (off to pull out some old recipes and pickle some shallots for Christmas :D)

i have made many banana breads some tasting better than others, does this need to be made in bread maker as i dont have one and could you please give me the recipe when you have a spare minute lol?
