Thanks again Rosie
I know who I'm going to ask when I lose a post !!
Yategirl give the herbs a good rinse in clear water, shake off the excess and blot dry with paper towel.
Lay them on the tray in sprigs, try to get one layer with no overlaps sort of wiggle them so theres no bunches.
Herbs dry really quickly on mine...usually 3-4 hrs turn them over after about 2 hours.I usually dry mine til they crumble easily when picked up and rubbed between my fingers.
Leave to completely cool for an hour or so then I usually blitz them in my coffee grinder..you can do flakes or powder
Thanks DeeI know what to do now while I wait to collect ds2 from preschool!!

Hiya, I have the breadmaker on to have a go at this delicious looking bread that I discovered earlier (in Sammy-Kayes thread I think it was) anyway, have just discovered I have no sultanas - do you think I could substitute glace cherries for these? Ooh just realised I have a bag of seedless raisins maybe these could be used instead although tbh think my dd's would prefer it with cherries if you think it would work?
I am completely new to this whole bread-making thing so sorry if I'm sounding a bit stupid!!!0 -
Just realised I should prob put the recipe on so you can see what I'm talking about!
here's the apple braid one
Dough.
1 sachet yeast
15 oz strong bread flour
3/4 tsp salt
4 tbspn sugar (less if wanted)
4 1/2 tbspn butter
2 eggs
6 fl oz milk
I find this comes out a bit on the sticky side sometimes so you may need a bit of extra flour to hand *I make this up in my MR haven't tried it in the Panny yet!*
Set for white bread dough..
Filling.
2 eating apples
1 1/2 tsp plain flour
2 tbspn sugar
3/4 tspn cinammon
3/4 tspn lemon juice
3 tbspns sultanas
Peel, core and chop apples into small pieces toss with the remaining ingredients.
Roll out dough to 1/3 inch thick rectangle shape.Mark lightly from top to bottom into thirds without cutting!! On the outer thirds make diagonal cuts about 1 inch wide.
Place the filling down the centre of the dough then plait the dough over the top.
Cover loosely and rise for 30 mins then bake for approx 30 mins til golden brown.Gas mark 4/180 c/350 f0 -
Hi Joey,
I would imagine either rasins or the cherries will work.
I've added your posts to D&DD's family of five shop from home thread as that's where the recipe was originally posted and where D&DD is most likely to see it.
