Thats a great recipe, I've done it a couple of times but I must remember to make them smaller, mine have ended up huge each time!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

The braid'll be fine done in the mixer. My mum makes it up in either the breadmaker or her Kenwood chef, whichever is out on the top first gets used and as far as I know she's not had any problems :D

Hello, I've been reading this thread for a little while and been so inspired. Its made me think about how I cook, trying to use everything up and not have so much wastage. Thanks for all the great ideas

finally plucked up courage to post, as I have a question. I was lucky enough to get an absolutely huge joint of beef from mr Ts , reduced from £17 to £5 which looks enough to feed me, DH, DS & DD for a week, so any ideas on how I can use the remainder once I've roasted it?

    thanks

What about a Beef Curry and if you have a SC do a double portion and freeze one half for next week.

Could you cut it up and roast part of it, put the rest in the freezer to roast at another time? You'd probably get 3 joints out of it?

If I have leftover cooked beef, which doesnt happen that often, its usually rissoles or curry or if just a small amount its a sandwich for lunch next day. ;)

Great bargain by the way :T
