yategirl the recipe i use for bakewell is the one from here and i just make small ones int he muffin tin. i think it was rosieben? poss idea to use a muffin tin.
Much as I’d like to take the credit for the recipe and/or the idea of using a muffin tin it was in fact D&DD's recipe in post #482 and Morwenna's idea to use a muffin tray. I still havent tried a bakewell yet, so I've just added it to Saturday baking list, thanks for the reminder!
Sleep well tonight JCR and hope you feel much better in the morning... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Have you tried asking on freecycle for a breadmaker Mooky??
Morwenna good to see you how are things??? That pizza sounds lovely! My picky no3 will actually eat the free from naans from Tesco and you've just reminded me of an experiment I was going to do for a homemade one..another thing on my to do list! I should start writing it on loo roll :rotfl:
aargh and who mentioned samosas??? I'll need another pen too0 -
Hi Dee - everything is fine over here :hello: Still suffering from cooker envy though *mutter*
The naan bread pizza is going on my reular list - I can imagine it will be a good one for when I slide through the door at 6:15 copletely drained and need to feed the baby angels fast! I plan to make a batch of pizza sauce up and batch freeze to have on hand too. (Although the tom paste worked fine.)
I just wish I had thought it up and had it published0 -
Hi folks
sorry been a bit awol recently but I have been very busy. Have to say my storecupboards and freezer are looking fuller not emptier and my grocery challenge was £73 over this month but it was my first month and I bagged a lot of bargins so fingers crossed I will be a bit closer next month.
Have inventoried all my cupboards and freezers so now I know exactly what I have in which is good. Have had a good shop at Lidl today and got loads of fruit and veg at very good prices so have spent this afternoon using up the old ones to make Broccoli and cheese soup (head of brocolli left over from last week ditto the small bit of cheese), carrot and corriander soup (carrots left from two weeks ago and some corriander from my plant thats on its way out), Fish pie for tea (using up the potatoes left over from last week), saute apples (to stock in the freezer from the left over apples from last week and the week before). All in all a very productive day and loads for the freezer:T although it doesnt really need stocking. One thing I have noticed is that whilst my spending hasnt really diminished that much I have to say that my wastage of food has - I now try to use it up rather than sling it as I would have in the 'old days'. Little one loved helping cut all the veg for the soup, making the fish pie, and being the 'official' tester lol.
Challenge for me for the next week is to start using more food from cupboards and freezers. I will try to only buy fresh fruit, milk and veg in Feb!!! Task for the next few days is to menu plan the month roughly so that I can see any shortfalls.0 -
I am doing my best not to let anything go to waste!
I have bought my meat in bulk(ish) from Costco last week, and have been getting DH to pick up milk and bread on the way home as that is all he will pick up ( unlike me - come out having spent £30 each time!)
We had meatballs, pasta and spagetti sauce last night for tea and usually I would just throw the remainder of the sauce away - but not now... I have it in container in fridge. Not sure hopw long it will last so was wondering could I freeze it - it is the jar sauce frim Lidl.
Thanks LadiesNo Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

well i went to morrisons, got what i needed. i was very good.
they did have french sticks reduced , but i figured at 29p they werent a good enough bargin, as i get funny abotu bread in freezer. although when feeling brave i might try it again.
We have just booked a holiday to somerset for oct. got a gorgeous little farm cottage. with log burners etc. it very illdylic(sp?) don't think i am gonna wanna come home. so looking at nice places we can visit while we there. gonna see if i can come out of the tesco xmas club and use my vouchers and exchange for deals. as we want to go to longleat and it will cost £72 for us to visit, but if i can use my vouchers than fantastic.
hope things go well with your oh tonight sammy.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Me too... in that freezer is looking fuller and cupboards too up to a point. I haven't over spent .... yet!
It was my first month and although it was the plan to 'shop from home' as far as possible, I was starting a new thing cooking beans etc from scratch, also needed some other staples. Should put me in a better position to start next month, but moving the goal posts.... it's a shorter month by 2 days, so going to adjust the budget accordingly. It has half term in it as well, so probably won't take the amount down any more, as there will be more catering to do with the children at home.... I could see how much less I can do I suppose.
If I'd been to Costco I think I would have been over by £72 as well!Hi folks

we are "just round the corner" so to speak if you visit Castle Coombe and Laycock! Dyhram Park is a good Nat trust place to visit too. Do you know what sort of places you want to visit JCR?
