I totally agree with you.there are some lovely people on this thread and I love catching up and receiving advice.Talking of which.......................I wanted to make some muffins and doughnuts tonight but bothe my recipes say Plain flour and I only have Self raising :( is there anything I can do? Can I use self raising.Lol you can see how much an amateur baker I am!

I think that will be ok, but just maybe try leaving out any baking powder (isnt SR flour just plain flour but with baking powder in it?!) I might be totally wrong there though, but if it was me, id give it a try anyway! lol

Hmm, not sure on doughnuts, but I would be tempted to go for muffins with SR flour - maybe halving any raising agents also specified, baking powder, bicarb etc

I made muffins yesterday with SR and left out the baking powder - they were fine.. think I would risk the doughnuts too!

yategirl the recipe i use for bakewell is the one from here and i just make small ones int he muffin tin. i think it was rosieben? poss idea to use a muffin tin.

    they come out perfect.

Yes but you know you meant to! :rotfl:

By the way, I did Nigella's Naan bread pizza the other night totally store cupboard and took ten mins tops! Mini naan, garlic & coriander version, couple of spoons tom paste, herbs, one of those mozarella ball things ripped up and tuna. 5 mins in the oven - served it with coleslaw and salad drawer findings  the children loved it! In fact DD2 wants it for her birthday tea on Tuesday. :T
