when i was little my mum always made her own yoghurt.and i hated it, unless i had put a huge dollops of her home made black current jam in it. it was the only jam i ate ,and the only way i ate the yoghurt. and all i can rememeber is it was delish. not had it in prob nearly 20 years now tho. my mum not into cooking like she used to, she is a shame as she more broke now than ever since my brothers illness.but she does have less time.

Thanks Morwenna - I hadn't thought of toffee sauce or maple syrup.... mmhh... will add to my shopping list!

jcr16 - I think if you have got used to shop bought yoghurt and therefore the sugar... it can be difficult to swop... I added sugar at first to my homemade yoghurt and then reduced the amount till I got to no sugar added.. and my kids prefer that but dh is so fussy

We have made choc biscuits but not much else... I have no eggs or golden syrup or.....(!) Need a shopping trip and it sounds like a trip to Julian Graves too!

    Hi All!!!

Hoping your are all well today. We have had absolutely no snow here in our part of germany and doesn't look like we will be getting any for a while. If we dont then we will probably get snow in October of this year and it will be a bad winter! Back to subject (slas own wrist lol) - here are another 2 of my almost famous seasonings:

Taco Seasoning - I use this when making chilli or anything remotely mexican - should really rename it mexican seasoning lol. The ingredients for this are paprika, oregano, garlic, cayenne, salt and onion powder - I sometimes only have onion salt in the house and use that. Just juggle the quantities to suit your own taste. I tend to have not a lot of salt but more garlic and onion, and a little of the others, but you may like paprika and cayenne more so may like to add more - it's really up to your individual taste.

Steak seasoning - yummy! Salt, black pepper, onion and garlic. Easy as that! Again, we have a fair garlicky peppery taste but its another of those that you can tweak to your own taste.

Will check my others later and post them for you all.

My cooker is on its last legs..I have a wonderful Belling Farmhouse Rangecooker but sadly its conking on me so I asked for a price to have it refurbed..£365 plus vat  So I've left it alone and its still working..just.

Went to Currys today to get a new microwave as mine is knackered....
    But ended up buying this

    Welllllllllllllllll....in my defence m'lord it was only £449 :j :j and its a Flavel Rangemaster :D
    Plus I got a 5% code off here (- £28.50) + I used Quidco..3.5% cashback :T
So ended up around the £400 mark :D

*Also managed to sneak a shiny new Panny microwave into the basket while OH wasn't looking...well actually he was having a lay down to get over the shock :rotfl: *

But we each got £200 for Xmas from my parents so in effect its not really cost us more than a weeks shopping........It's coming home on the 10th :j

Arent we all busy again now that the festivities are over

I made a point of not buying loads of pre-made cakes this year as they always end up sitting around for ages before being consumed and its such a waste.Only got two boxes of mince pies to deal with and then its back to normal. Not much snow here but what we have had hasnt lasted long.Morwenna we are in Burnley so not too far from you

Made some Chutney yesterday so now have five jars sitting in my pantry maturing and it'll be about 3 months before I can taste it to see whether its nice or not

I've also got some baking to do today but after putting away my shopping its quite hard to get motivated.I bought some Gingerbread men cutters off Ebay the other day so cant wait for them to arrive as the kids love gingerbread men but my cutters always make them headless!

    that cooker is gorgeous.

i've got a nice new world( i think) stainless steel double oven one. but it is just the normal width of a standard cooker.

i always wanted one like u have bought , but couldn't afford it.

just after we had our new kitchen fitted hubby got offered a £1000 double range thingy for £200 as it ran on standard gas and somehe knew moved hosue with it, only to find the property didn't have gas.

i was gutted. but the way i looked at it was if it was meant to of been then it would of.

bet u can't wait till the 10th tho.

    <sob> It's just not fair.

Seriously, really thrilled for u Dee, it's when people (and I know a few) have lovely cookers like that and never use them that I really spit feathers. Know yours will definitely not come into that category.
