Today I boiled down the chicken carcasses from the 2 chickens we had for lunch yesterday (the chickens they sell in german shops are tiny compared to a normal one you could buy from Mr T's), strained it, added the little bits of chicken meat that were still on the bones (the good stuff only lol) and then added all of my leftover veggies from the fridge that looked like they were almost at the end of their lives! Hopefully the soup will be rather tasty tomorrow - I still have to blitz it with the hand blender as youngest DD will not eat lumpy soup lol.
And to top that off have written a stack of letters to try and reclaim mis-sold payment protection on loans. Hubby is a soldier so is paid if he is off sick and well I'm not covered cos I stay at home so we dont need the PPI and we can get it for 5 quid a month if we want it and that covers everything including the car payments so keep[ your fingers crossed!
Wil be back a wee bit later as am haveing a bit of a clear out - have managed to get rid of a wardrobe we were given when I was expecting the little one this time 4 years ago. My next door neighbour wanted to buy one for her little boy who is 3 months old and I went round earlier and am giveing it to her - didnt cost me anything so really wouldnt feel right taking money off her - but its giving me some free space in oldest DD's bedroom!
Thanks for the ideas on melons - am going to cube it and bung it in the freezer till I can decide what I want to do with it - after all "waste not want not!"

Well done you! It sounds like you have a good case re PPI! If other peeps in the house prefer "lumpy" soup, only "blitz" enough for DD and a bit more to thicken the lumpy soup. Everyone gets what they want, and a bit less work for you.
Also, Nigella freezes Watermelon in Nigella Bites, okay, she uses it to make Daquiri (sp?) but I assume future alcohol content doesn't negate poisoning??0 -
Bonsibabe thats how I got our PPI back as OH has been covered since he joined the Post Office so you shouldn't have a problem0

i have just been in the kitchen on a measuring quest, and for future reference, 1 babycham glass rim = 1 flask cup, plus a handy handle!0 -
Thanks for the encouragement! It's great to be here, with people who actually understand what I am talking about. DH bless him, usually gives me a blank look when I start talking about moneysaving lol! But he has agreed to let me have my way for 2008 to see how it goes!
I've just blitzed the whole pan of soup cos DD1 and DH both quite like non-lumpy soup, although they will take whatever is put in front of them. DD2 is the one we had at pediatrics last year to see if she had a growth problem. We found out its called "Constitutional Short Stature". Basically she is 3 years old but her body is a year behind. So she is still in some clothes for a 1 or 2 year old, but mentally she is fine thankfully. So at least now we dont have to worry so much about her, just let her go on as she is. (boy was that a weight off my mind in November when they told us the test results!)
And thanks for the PPI encouragement. I wasnt sure if we would have a case and thought I would write for the paperwork anyway, but you guys have given me the encouragement to get the paperwork and try to get part of the money back. Two loans are ongoing (one is a separate PPI so wont be affected if we get the PPI back - the other will drop considerably!) but the other 4 loans were all paid off early. We got partial refunds but will try to get the rest back (with interest of course). It's encourageing to know others have got their money back, and on reading the PPI thread, it seems that my bank is quite good at giving the money back!
Thanks again, its so nice on here (no wonder hubby is always moaning about me being on the computer all the time lol!)

Aiming for a No Spend Christmas 2012!0 -
Good Morning! DH and DS1 went back to work/school today so ds2 and I have the house to ourselves and can get back to our normal routine! It'll be lovely to come and chat again!
No snow here near Bristol and I can't see us getting much.. if any
Haven't done a great deal of baking recently.. we have been given some goodies for christmas so have been eating those and saving my pennies. As soon as I can afford... I am going to buy a electric slicer from lakeland (for bread and those meat joints I buy and rubberise!!) and a second yoghurt tub for my easiyo vacuum flask.... I am struggling to keep up with the demand for yoghurt at the moment!
How do you flavour your yoghurt if you make it yourself? I like stewed/pureed/raw fruit with a blob of yoghurt or sometimes I drain (and whizz if needed) a tin of fruit and mix that in or plain yoghurt. The kids sometimes like a blob of jam stirred in OR I copy lidl - add a little vanilla essence and choc chips!! Dh prefers yoghurt with "flavours" (he is very big on E numbers and all that.. :rotfl: ) so am always looking for ideas!
Where is the best place to get seeds from (poppy seeds, sesame etc) and nuts? Julian Graves?
Today.. I am making more yoghurt(!) and doing some baking... maybe flapjack and a cake of some sort
Hope everyone is well and not too cold0 -

Good morning! I must say I could get used to being off all day...back to work for me on Monday though harumph!
I tend to flavour yoghurt the same ways you do, hadn't thought of vanilla though, good tip! The other thing I do is use toffee sauce or maple syrup, I know, not healthy but DD2 loves toffee yoghurt! For myself, my fave is with tinned fruit cocktail, but the kids won't go for that!
No snow here either, (near Blackpool) but we don't really ever get it, too near the sea.
I would go to Julian Graves too, someone said they have a sale on, so you might get some bargains!0
